    Another difference: my Linea Mini (delivered Dec. 2020) runs the plastic reservoir tube through a different hole in the chassis that is just below the main hot water boiler. The hole you are running both the plastic and braided lines through is actually covered with a bolted on plate that I am removing to more easily run the braided line.

    This was a great instruction video and helped me change the water supply/drain feature back to the non-plumb feature. So thanks! The manual isn't entirely easy to follow, your video made the whole thing way easier, and had more peace of mind that I was doing it right. And yes, putting the back panel back on is a two person job! :)))).

    La Marzocco really should supply a tool to remove the PID wheel. It is by far the biggest pain in the backside of the whole process.

    • @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
      @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters  Před 2 lety

      Oh yes, it’s easy, take the top off, then get a 8 or 10mm ring spanner and you undo the bracket that holds the wheel to the chassis, it’s a key lock style. Very easy once you do it this way. 👍🏻

    Given that many of these will be plumbed, I think they could have made this 100x easier.
    1) whats with that insane water piping for the tank feed... why not just have the plastic tube terminate on top of the pump.
    2) why not orientate the pump head so that the water feed is accessible from the bottom (as rocket do).
    this seems far too involved a process for a simple plumb job.

    • @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
      @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters  Před 4 lety

      As this is la Marzocco first real entry into the domestic market they have looked at it from a commercial perspective giving the quality and reliability required for that environment to the domestic market. Yes it’s a bit of a process, that’s why we felt we needed to do this video. You can’t attached to the tank hose as it would balloon under pressure and burst. Installing an isolation valve for the plumbing kit would be handy for sure.

    • @1061shrink1061
      @1061shrink1061 Před 4 lety +1

      @@ArtistiCoffeeRoasters No I mean why on earth didn't they terminate the tank connection straight to the pump (for non plumbed use). What on earth is all that copper craziness for given there's no pressure coming from tank.
      I'm well aware why you wouldn't use that connection for mains plumb.
      Must say that plumbing my dual boiler machine at home was a hell of a lot easier than this, and it seems that theres a few simple changes LM could make to have that process be much much easier.

    • @ToddJohnson15
      @ToddJohnson15 Před 3 lety

      @@1061shrink1061 I just asked the same question. All that copper craziness is not in videos of older Linea Minis that I've seen. I am plumbing mine in tonight and wasn't sure whether I needed to connect the braided line to the copper craziness, or just remove the craziness. In this video, he removes all of craziness. I agree that this should be easier. I am replacing a La Spaziale Vivaldi V1 that is 15 years old. That machine had to be plumbed in, but the line from the machine to the braided line simply angles (and swivels) out of the bottom of the machine. I will say, though, that the Linea Mini is much cleaner inside than the Vivaldi. The Vivaldi wiring and tubing looks like a Rube Goldberg contraption.

    Inflow pressure question: Can anyone advise on whether I need the pressure limiting valve (recommended here), a 20psi accumulator, or just 20ft of hosing for my Rancilio S27? The machine is currently drawing directly from a 5gal jug. Pump has already been purchased.

    • @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
      @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters  Před 2 lety

      As long as you have a pump providing a pre pressure to the coffee machine and the your not using the coffee machine pump to suck then this is fine. The 350kpa valve give the machine 3 bar, so if you can deduce the pump pressure you have it will help the machine, too much or too little pressure will effect the machines pump over time

    Hey guys - got a weird question...Does the machine still work if you take the reservoir out and sit it next to the machine or will the light on the front just keep flashing?

    • @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
      @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters  Před 4 lety +1

      Great question. The light will keep flashing at you as the water level tank switch is not connected to the switch in the machine that we show you to bypass. If you manually bypass the switch it will work as you desire. How ever you have no way to tell the machine how much water you have and may run it dry. You could use long wires and extend the machine water level sensor switch and connect it to the back of the tank. Good luck

      @@ArtistiCoffeeRoasters awesome response thank you - answered all my questions! I think I may have another solution - I'm completely off-grid and trying to bypass the need for an external pump and Flo-jet set-up, so will try leaving the tank in situ but fill it via a battery operated water transfer pump (with auto-shut off). I think there is just enough clearance above the water tank by feeding the pump hose from underneath into the reservoir, with the drip tray pulled forward slightly. Wish me luck!

    • @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
      @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters  Před 4 lety +1

      Kat Kenyon be careful not to pull the drip tray too far forward as it will make the boiler over pressure leak onto the bench.

    What kind of water filter do you recommend for linea mini?

    • @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
      @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters  Před 4 lety +2

      Great question Milad! Water filters are very important but the type of filter can be very different depending on your water supply. Reverse osmosis systems can be a good option but they typically will take all the mineral out of the water, and this is problematic as the machine requires mineral content for many of the internal sensors. With an RO system you will need to put minerals back into the water after filtration. For most optimal results, the Specialty Coffee Association recommend hardness above 35ppm and below 85ppm. RO systems do come at a cost so I would recommend reaching out to a local water-filtration expert to find the best solution for your budget and specific to the water supply in your area. I would love to shoot a video on this soon so keep an eye out!

      @@ArtistiCoffeeRoasters I am looking forward to your video but I am curious to see which 3M filter you are using? I do not want to spend a crazy amount of money on filtration, to be honest, but one that can provide a 3GPM and has inlet and outlet of 3/8 would be ideal for me.

    If i want to use a Gallon / Bottle water for the machine. Do i need to use flojet pump or can i just connect the hose to the water bottle and let the rotary pump to pull the water from the bottle?

    • @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
      @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi, a flowjet is the best solution as it will cut off your pump if the machine runs the bottle empty. They are a great option used by many people at trade shows. If you have an open bucket if you can have a 12v pump it will give you pressure to the machine the same as a mains water supply will give 3 bar pressure and your pump then ramps it up to 9 bar. If you have just a bucket, a coffee machine pump will suck the water up, it puts more strain on your pump but it will work. If this is the only way you are going to do it put a one way valve on the end of the hose so that the pump stays primed.

    • @gusmank
      @gusmank Před 4 lety +1

      “A flow jet will cut off the pump if the machine runs the bottle empty”
      So mean you need to connect some data / sensor cable from the flow jet to the Linea Mini?
      Would be great if you made some videos about this. As i believe most people will prefer to use this option instead of direct plumb with filter installation for home use / coffee cart needs.

      @@ArtistiCoffeeRoasters Right on thanks! We are using a Linea Mini setup at Ragga Bean Coffee Co. in our cafe bus by the ocean. We are currently filling up our water reservoir a lot more frequently than we'd like so I think a plumbed situation with a filter would be the next step. Do you also have to use a water pump? We are hooked to municipal water.

  • @ToddJohnson15

    I just got a new Linea Mini and when I went to plumb it in tonight I noticed that the reservoir tube was connected to a brass tube with what looks like an overflow tube to the top of the drip tray. It has a black shut off valve that was closed in mine and seems to be closed in yours as well. I see that part in your video, but not in any of the other videos on installing the plumbing kit. On those videos, the waterline from the plastic reservoir attaches to a small brass pipe that goes straight to the same place you attached the braided line. Do you know the purpose of the extra bits with the shut off valve and overflow tube?

  • @ToddJohnson15
    @ToddJohnson15 Před 3 lety

    Yikes. LM made that way too hard, but what's more the disassembly process will make repairs time consuming. I have had a La Spaziale Vivaldi for 15 years (running 24/7 most of that time). It must be plumbed in, but that is easy without disassembly. I've had to make 5 or 6 repairs over the years: replacing the brew boiler heating element twice, some boiler sensors a couple of times, and removing and descaling the boiler once. It can be tight to work in and I had a to buy a few special tools, but at least it is easy to get inside of. I was thinking of buying a LMLM or GS3. Is the GS3 easier to plumb in and work on?

    • @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
      @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters  Před 3 lety

      Yes easy to plumb in, it comes with the kit. They have great access to work on the boilers etc. the MP head is technical head, so it’s a bit to work on for the average person. But the rest is well thought out
