This is not strictly true, at least from my experience (and also from what I’ve just googled: “If you're an adult who needs glasses due to blurred vision, not wearing glasses doesn't make your eyes worse, but it makes your eyes work harder.”). I have -1.75 eyesight but go through most of life without wearing glasses (except when it is of utmost importance that I see details like during lectures, driving etc.) and my degree has never gotten worse in the 20 years since I was first identified as nearsighted. I did wear the glasses consistently for the first 6-7 years, but since then I’ve mostly not worn them.
I hate the fact that I have to always sit at the front in class because of the fact that I'm a blind bitch ! at least one thing in common with my ult 😔 let's hope he'll have his prescriptions soon

this is a bit of a late reply but if he only needs glasses to see things that are far away it means he won't need glasses all of the time so LASIK probably won't be worth the risk, I'm nearsighted like Renjun probably is and I only wear glasses some of time so I asked my optician about LASIK and they said the benefits for someone like me aren't worth the possible risks so it'd be easier to just get glasses and contacts, plus if your vision is still worsening it's recommended not to get, your prescription has to be stable for a few years I believe, Sorry for long reply I just think people should know LASIK isn't for everybody

I can totally relate. When I was little, I was walking on one side of a six lane street when a group of people started waving and calling my name on the other side. My eyes were so bad and they were so far away that they didn’t even look like people, just moving blurs. I waved back at them. Till this day, I still have no idea who they were.
