The Journals of Clovis Bray detail these experiments and how the first generation of exos died to DER without the humanisms that were eventually programmed into them. All the while, Maya Sundaresh remained a persistent mystery and the threat of the Vex began to grow.

You know, I had this thought recently. The Darkness- infused Vex mind fluid is needed to maintain the consciousness of the individual being turned into an Exo, and now that we know Darkness is heavily tied to consciousness, personhood, and sense of self that makes a lot of sense.
But it is interesting how the delusion that the Exo's went through before the memory wipe process was implemented seems to mirror Hive forced evolution rituals and philosophies and Rhulk's own evolution into a Disciple at the hands of the Witness. Very curious, all of it.
I’m just saying. If Exos need to eat could they resort to exo cannibalism, if they got hungry enough?

I imagine this disease is something like a death loop a person would undergo while on a heroic dose of magic mushrooms. Going through that for hours is agonizing, but for a life time? This would be a fate worse than death.

Dont know why but the Clovis Bray logbooks are my go to comfort read. I always find myself coming back and rereading or relistening to it being told, I guess it’s just that good.

Can you do a speculative video about the Exos who seem to break the mold of what we know about Exos? Thinking about Ada-1 & Elsie Bray, who never have been wiped; Banshee-44, who has a failing memory despite technically only getting reset once within the same body; Siddhata Golem & Rasputin, who technically aren’t human brains in Exo bodies, but in the case of Felwinter was still deemed alive enough to be blessed with the Light; and Moss, who is able to share a brain with his Ghost. I feel like the things we “know” about the Exo are incomplete pictures.
ada-1 iirc is a different kind of exo. an one of a kind highly experimental exo frame. one that was infused with radiance and BA tech. it is heavily implied that BA tech and radiance was based in the light in some way. much as braytech's exos (and possibly other braytech technologies) are based in the darkness
ada's frame is basically the BA's attempt at an exo and its a successful one. though what spurred on BA's development of an exo i do not recall
@@SivaExperiment Helga Rasmussen worked on the exo project with clovis for a while before leaving due to ethical objections (what a surprise), so that's at least where the black armory got the tech/experience from. As for why they had a body ready to go when the pyramids showed up, idk. An interesting detail about ada 1 is that Adelaide meyrin, who became ada 1, was a kid when she died during the collapse and was put into the exo body as an emergency. If the exo byf mentioned in this video had a hard time because her walk was different, I can't imagine how weird it would have been for ada 1 to wake up with a child brain in an adult body
@@peteraustin9057 ah ok that makes sense i always wondered how they got the know how. also it was stated or heavily implied that the exo frame was basicaly a mobile forge correct? and the obsidian accelerator was a major component in it. i think the BA had a very strong suspicion that something would happen causing some form of extinction.

I find it interesting how similar the process of becoming an exo is to bring resurrected as a guardian to include the loss of memories
You know, I had that thought too! It seems the Traveler might have taken some inspiration from Rasputin and his Seraphs along with Clovis and the Exo's. Very interesting stuff.

I wonder. Does a ghost cure the brain rejection of an exo guardian? More so, how has Elsie a lightless exo managed to avoid the rejection of the custom exo body.
Idk if there's official lore on it, but I'd imagine there's something with Elsie jumping between timelines that prevents her from needing reboots
I'd imagine that rezing would prevent it. Since you're rezzed with no memories that might clear up a lot of the DER issues. I'm guessing all the exo guardians went through their wipes pre rez.
human guardians don't age so I imagine exo guardians lose at least some of the downsides, though I strongly suspect it would be possible for an exo guardian to go through a reboot that his/her ghost couldn't undo
Yes, because an exo guardian will have no past self to reference to. The body is as natural to them as anything.
Now, for how many times they've been rebooted prior, though I think it gets murky. What I know about rebooting is that it's not a mind wipe like people may think. It's more like identifying what started the onset of DER and locking part of the exomind from interacting with the rest of the body. While I do not know what this would mean for exo guardians with high reboot numbers, I don't think that if someone like Banshee was risen as a guardian would be capable of remembering things well. Not because of the light doing its thing, just because of how the reboot process works and I do not think the light would just undo those processes. But then again, maybe it would. We just don't know.
I find it interesting that Exos are memory-wiped upon transfer, as Guardians are memory-wiped when first resurrected, but it's Exo Guardians that tend to remember small things like their own names. Either way, it seems like the whole "I'm a theoretically immortal being with magic powers" causes "I'm in a robot body" to take a back seat and not induce D.E.R. Ghosts' ability to heal mental and emotional trauma seems very minimal compared to their ability to repair physical damage - the Drifter and his crew that were marooned on that weird Darkness-infused planet slowly went insane the whole time they were there, which was not fixed despite their Ghosts certainly being able to revive them from freezing to death and such.
In a similar vein, the shock of being a time-traveler many times over probably makes being a robot seem unimportant to Elsie. And then she learns powers of Darkness, which has a strong association with memory and surely further helps cement her sense of self and avoid D.E.R.

I've thought this from the jump, what a choice of biology (bipedal) and even facial structure to a species that's essentially supposed to be goo. I mean, there's a lot of design choices that could have been made before a universally expanding organism decides that its favourite form is that of a humans.

Knowing that Ada had a unique prototype exo body that doesn't use Alkahest, but the light based obsidian resonance the black armory discovered, it's quite possible she isn't affected by the same side effects.
She was pretty young when she was made an exo, something between 9/14, i'm pretty sure her age is mentioned at some point in the black armory papers lore, but i can't remember the exact age. That was right before the collapse happened, so she's hundreds of years old by now, maybe pushing the thousands, as we don't know how much time passed since the collapse until nowadays.
I believe exo bodies are built upon quality. AdA-1 seems like one who would not want such a fate and create a body before hand.
