Cheers Pete, I'm trying to attract swifts to a swift box and playing an MP3 of swift calls which is said to interest nest seekers. It's a few minutes long and I had to keep hitting play. Now it's looping nicely on Garageband. Thank you!

I keep coming back to this video as the information is so useful for GarageBand. Thank you Pete Johns. Your videos are worth their weight in gold! I use iRealPro extensively for creating backing tracks for rehearsing many type of music from my iPad. It's also very helpful for starting a recording. There's a feature in iReal that exports the backing track as a file (in a format of your choice) that can be then grabbed in GarageBand. This feature AND the one that Pete highlights in this video have been incredible time savers when I'm recording. The iReal track works as a backing track/metronome all in one for laying down the first pieces. I then layer as many tracks over it as I thing work, acoustic, electric, etc. In the end if the iReal Pro track still adds useful accompaniment I blend the volume and keep it or often I'll just mute the track and replace it with my own rhythm track. Thanks for all your work Pete.

I was able to save my audio in the files app. Imported the audio from the files but still it's showing greyed out and cannot select it.

Was wondering; if I use Garageband to make songs for use for friends to play on their youtube videos/channels , and say, the track is using a virtual drummer or is "heavy " on the apple loops and risers, will the song get flagged or pulled for copyright?
Also:
If I change (in the upper right settings) the "key" my track I'm working on is in,
(For instance, say I change from C major to
A minor) will the apple "loops" and "risers" and VOX inserts, will they then be in the key of A minor?

What are the best downloading apps or sites to download music
I use freesound.org for finding samples and sounds.
For me the song I want is like grayed out when you import it

I’m having the same issue. I converted a CZcams to mp3, saved the file and imported it per the instructions but the song is grayed out as well and I’m unable to drag and drop it into the project.

how do I get a file off my computer onto ipad first? cant import to garageband if its not on the ipad first.
Use iCloud Drive or perhaps some other cloud service perhaps. studiolivetoday.com/garageband
im sure this question was answer somewhere.. if i remove audio files from the garage band transfer folder does this effect the project that it was import from?
Nope! You’ll be golden. A copy is made in the project so it doesn’t rely on the transfer folder. studiolivetoday.com/garageband

ok this is serious issues, well im trying to import my audio to my garageband but it said my file was unsupported format. it happened when im update ios 15.. n it absoulutely annoyed me. well before this it was easy fr me to import it. So do you hve any suggestion to fix it????
Might need to convert to a more standard format. Unfortunately a lot of online conversion tools use non-standard formats… for reasons I haven’t quite figured out.
And how then to record track with imported Files?
Set up a new track, hit record, play or song along. 👍

@@PeteJohnsMusic thanks I had sample track selected and mic was recording when pressed record :D So it's essential to select different track before hitting record. My stupid mistake
When I import songs from AudioStretch, then into GarageBand (exported as WAV), the song only plays for like 3 seconds, but there’s silence. What am I doing wrong?

Does not cover iPhone as shown in the title in detail. You'll need to activate MultiTrack recording in Advanced settings then go to the MultiTrack icon to get to the Loop button, then import audio...

Often this is related to an audio converter that uses a non standard format. You’ll likely need to convert the audio file or use the screen recorder to capture the audio.
