There are so many that are undeserving, but I think I’m most offended by the Black Canary/ Black Widow comparison, bc asside from being “woman who fight good” they have literally nothing in common. The photo they used wasn’t even of black canary in costume, it was just some video game frame out of context to make them look more similar.

@@BeeruzChryslerMHA isn’t really a good comparison. Anime’s pay their animators slave labor costs, but comics from the 40’s - 70’s were limited by both what they could affordable pay an artist to re-draw hundreds of times and what colour inks they could get, so designs had to be really simplified.

Some of these were within months, and I would feel better to say that given times to produce and then publish, a lot of these ideals were being thought up around the same time as each other rather than a blatant copy cat scenario. At least that is the way I see some of these. It is also interesting that in a ton of these cases that Marvel or DC both seem to take the un popular ideas of the other and make then a more popular character in their universe. So honestly whether or not the ideas are being copied or just similar, it is nice to see that all ideas are getting limelight time regardless who it is from. Which in the end means the Artist and Writers win the day overall, and I can get behind that anytime!

Other times he's the gentleman Steven Grant, and sometimes the sadistic cab driver Jack Lockley. Batman is a millionaire playboy who dresses up as a bat every night to beat the crap out of criminals because he saw his parents get killed right in front of him when he was 8.

And they share exactly zero design similarities, their origins are nowhere close to the same, their motives and end goals are nothing alike. You'd be better off pairing Runner with The Flash, and even then their only similarities are that both of their designs kinda make nods to the god Hermes/Mercury (and not even the same nods; Flash has the winged boots/helm, with later versions having the wings eventually reshaped to lightning bolts and a mask instead of a Hermes/like cap, while Runner has a statue-like body and a loincloth).

I started out with DC as a child, before realising that Marvel was just so much more powerful, and Doctor Strange managed to become black priest strange in the last days of magic, literally saving magic, the best thing dr fate could do was rescue spectre. @Blaze order vs chaos as many times have proven they are both limited, dr fate saved spectre in an early comic, and yes that isn’t just any old feat, but saving all of magic, and commanding a race that beat the true darkhold scarlet witch is something far more impressive, especially since Wanda could easily wipe spectre and fate, but when she got ganged up against the black priests she wasn’t able to win. Also u bringing up artefacts that fate used which are nothing compared to things like the infinity gauntlet and the agamotto equipment. The thing is Dr fate hasn’t got as many amazing feats as dr strange, even if his helmet is thousands of years old, when you actually take a look at things like their powers, Dr Fate has mastered the mystic arts (apart from chaos magic but that’s bc he didn’t think it existed), whereas every time Fate tries to do something with his magic, it imbalances the universe with the whole order and chaos thing, which limits him

      1. the writers arent afraid to make their characters do crazy powerful things
      2. the marvel and dc universes alr had crossovers and marvel just showed to be much more powerful
      3. DC comics is just so limited and restrained, even down to the presence himself, being a judo-christian god, which gives him limits, compared to TOAA who is completely fictional

But the video said that there were some writers, and artist that were working with DC were roommates with some Marvel writers and artists and that they would discuss their newest characters with each other and that’s how a lot of characters were so much alike. Well, I mean that explains the ones that were introduced at or around the same time. But the ones that came decades later are just blatant rip-offs! I mean they all are blatantly ripped off from other characters but some are more so than others! You know technically speaking these copycat characters are actually replacement characters or at least some of them some of the writers used to work for the other companies and I have heard that at one point the two companies were one but I'm not sure about that regardless whenever these writers were working with one another creating stories it's very much possible that many of these characters were taken away from the stories that they're originally in a good example might be Catwoman and black cat both are which are very similar and at one point they have been one character but whenever the writers split apart and took their characters with them many of them had to be replaced with copycat characters I'm not saying this is the case for every single copycat cares about I am saying that there are quite a couple copies of characters that are probably like this

Here are just some of the many discrepancies that are within this video. Although (Bane and Crossbones) may have similar looks... That's about the only thing the two have in common. (Bane and the Marvel villain Nuke) would have been a far more accurate comparison. Same with (Ghost Rider and Atomic Skull)! The two may look similar. But their powers and origins are completely different. In fact their fiery skull look is also predated by a Golden Age superhero from Timely Comics (which would later become Marvel), known as ''The Blazing Skull''. (Ghost Rider and DC.s Etrigan The Demon) would have been a much better comparison. (Green Arrow and Hawkeye) were both inspired by a Golden Age hero who first appeared in Funny Pages #21 (1938) named ''The Arrow''. And (Swamp Thing and Man Thing) were both inspired by ''The Heap''.

@@drcokepepperIt's a long and complicated story. But it can all be traced back to the year 1939. To a company called ''Fawcett Publications''. Who started their own comics division. In order to capitalise on the popularity of characters such as ''Superman'' and ''Batman''.
At that time (Marvel comics) was known as (Timely Comics). Fawcett set out to create a ''Superman-esque'' character named “Captain Marvel”. Who first appeared in ''Whiz Comics'' #2 (February 1940). His name was (shortened from ''Captain Marvelous''. After they were unable to secure the rights to the name they originally wanted to use “Captain Thunder”.
The comic turned out to be a huge success, even outselling ''Superman''. Fawcett's (Captain Marvel) actually went on to become the first comic book superhero to be adapted for the silver screen. In the 1941 Republic serial, (The Adventures of Captain Marvel). However, in 1953 the company stopped selling the comics after DC.Comics, sued Fawcett for copyright infringement. Suggesting the character (Captain Marvel) was a blatant rip off of ''Superman''. (Mainly due to his appearance, abilities and alter-ego ''Billy Batson''). Who also worked in journalism. After a lengthy legal process, Fawcett eventually paid DC comics a settlement. And agreed that they would discontinue the stories. Sales had dropped during that time. Making it an easier decision than it might have once been) - and that might have been that, if not for the unexpected resurgence of superhero comics. Which we now know as the (Silver Age of comics) in the mid-1960s. No longer able to publish the character due to the settlement... DC comics decided that they would license (Captain Marvel and his “Marvel family” of sidekicks). Adding them to their own stable of heroes. And eventually acquiring the characters outright. Unbenounced to DC comics at that time, in 1972. Marvel Comics (now existing under its familiar name)... Had also created and copyrighted its own character named ''Captain Marvel''. An alien warrior named ''Mar-Vell'' who made his debut in ''Marvel Super-Heroes'' #12 (December 1967). And fought alongside the heroes of Earth using his (Kree abilities and powerful nega-band technology). DC still kept the character name but retitled the ongoing comic book “Shazam!,”. The magic word said by young Billy Batson to transform into his Superhero alter ego and back again. Basically, while the character was still called ''Captain Marvel'', any comics and merchandise related to him were just branded with the (Shazam!) name and logo. And DC comics had enough leeway to keep using the character.
At one point DC even attempted to subtitle the series as “The original Captain Marvel''. But Marvel comics sent out a cease-and-desist letter which led them to change it to “The World’s Mightiest Mortal”.
