  • Is there any wheel better than the BBS E88 on a Porsche 964? The E88 is a motorsport classic and looks perfect on the 964. In this video I go through the specs of my BBS E88s. These specs are for my wheels - remember to make sure you talk to an expert about the right fitment for your ride.

    Awesome overview. Have these on my 964 but +47 offsets, and really love them. These wheels look so good in person. I did get them ceramic coated to help with the cleaning problem and it’s made it so much easier. I think a lot of things really depend on suspension setup, with adjustable height coilovers it makes figment much easier to dial in.

    Regarding keeping the wheels clean, I recommend you look into ATE ceramic brake pads. Best thing you can do

    • @lastrasp
      @lastrasp  Před 3 lety +1

      Read your comment and went straight to their website, thank you. How are they in terms of performance and squealing?

    • @CELproductions
      @CELproductions Před 3 lety +1

      @@lastrasp I've had them fitted on both my standard golf r brake setup, and now my Porsche BBK set-up in the same car. When they were in stock configuration I had no squealing and excellent performance/pedal feel. Now I've gone to monoblock calipers on all 4 corners and 2 piece floating discs, The car is "over-braked" and rarely on the street do they see any real heat, maybe 1 or 2 times a week I'd have some slight noise the first time I used them when the car was my daily driver, but realistically nothing else noise wise.
      On the track the pads performed perfectly. I had no braking issues or any sort of fade. But I do pressure flush/ replace my brake fluid every year, as well as before and after any track events.
      I've spent the last 6 years fitting them to customer cars with only 2 possible cases of noise/ vibration blamed on the pads, in reality this was most likely caused by user error. I recommend you fit new discs at the same time to minimise any chance of issues/ noise or strange pedal feel.

    Great vid ! On a narrowbody 964 i would have thought 9.5'' width at the rear was the way to go, but evidently i was wrong. Also i am not sure metal polish is very effective on clear coated surfaces like the lips of the wheels, maybe plain sealant or ceramic coating would preserve the shine longer ?

    • @lastrasp
      @lastrasp  Před 3 lety

      Interesting point. I did try a product like what you suggested but had limited success. I wouldn’t characterise the mothers polish as long lasting but it looks beautiful. Really gives the lips a shine.

    Andy, I am finally getting my E88s next month (after 6 month waiting). Cab you give some advice on cleaning them? I read that they are pretty sensitive. Tx

    • @lastrasp
      @lastrasp  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah they are super sensitive. Don't use any of those heavy duty purple sprays. Definitely not good for the polished lips (I learned that the hard way). Otherwise I just use regular detergent and a soft wheel brush. Always have to go over it with a microfibre towel as it's very easy to miss spots. The polished lips usually need some work to really shine. I polish them with Mothers Mag and Aluminium Polish and they come up a treat.
