17 and 18 were real humans turned into androids that’s why they have human traits. Their real names were Lapis(17) and Lazuli(18). 16 is based off Geros son which is dead. 16 loves nature and he’s 100% machine
Also, 17 and 18's real names and the reson for 16's appearance never comes up in DBZ itself

Vegeta's ego is completely out of control during this time I can't blame him though the struggle, trials, tribulations ,determination, that he went through.
Just to obtain Super Saiyan and now that he got it he feels he's on top of the world.
Even though Vegeta gave a heartfelt speech near the end of the Frieza Saga, that still doesn't erase the fact that he still killed a lot of people on Namek and never once admitted to liking Goku or his friends. From what it looks like in the beginning, Vegeta probably didn't even care about Bulma or about starting a family, he probably just used Bulma for his personal pleasure. I'd say Vegeta's character is just being consistent in the Andriod Saga.

You're not exactly far off.
And I hate to sound harsh for all the Vegeta and Bulma fan shippers out there but.... Trunk's "conception" between Bulma and Vegeta was a one-night stand. Then 3 years after that he left Bulma in the dust.
Maybe during the 7 year time skip after this saga he started getting a little bit better. But for the majority of these two's relationship, there was nothing. That's why some people like the Buu saga in Dragon Ball super, because it was that saga when Vegeta finally turned over a new leaf and self-reflected upon himself immensely, and saved the world with his plan that united everyone against the common foe, without a hint of selfishness, and became a family man at the end and in DBsuper and beyond.
Vegeta had genuine attraction towards Bulma that went beyond physical lust. He has a few lines in the Japanese dub that suggest this. E.g. He silently complimented her bravery when she showed up to see Frieza on Earth (he didn't say it directly to her, but was just talking to himself in his mind). No man that's only interested in physical lust, would give a damn about any non-physical qualities, barring not being batshit crazy.
Him leaving Bulma after hooking up with her, is more about not wanting to show vulnerability or being soft (and his obsession with being a Super Saiyan). It's not quite a traditional relationship, but it's not quite a shallow hook-up either.
@@Mbrace818 I get that, but what still rubbed me the wrong way was when Dr. Gero killing potentially killing Bulma & baby Trunks and Vegeta didn’t give damn. Future Trunks even confronts Vegeta about it, but Vegeta still didn’t care. That’s why I didn’t really feel a relationship between Vegeta and Bulma yet.
@@soulbade-x9709 Well you can't look at it too black and white. Vegeta, and people in general, are complex. It may have very well been the case that Vegeta had genuine feelings towards Bulma while also simultaneously be unwilling to save her.
It sounds like a contradiction. But Vegeta at this time, and all times before this, was very _very_ adamant about never becoming soft. He strongly criticized Goku for it when he was being too merciful towards the Ginyu Force. He sees softness, and by extention, intimacy as a weakness. Something that he thinks could get him killed. Him saving Bulma and Trunks would mean giving in to that weakness. He may very well have had feelings for Bulma, but will still act against those feelings for the sake of never being soft or vulnerable.
And everyone would have seen it, and therefore, would have seen beneath his rough hard exterior. Letting anyone see that side of him is simply out of the question for him. He'd rather let what he potentially cares about die, than to let anyone see a potential weakness in him. And he probably couldn't stand seeing it in himself.
Fun fact: its never stated in the anime or manga but 16 is basically dr geros son but made a robot since he died years ago, and 17 and 18 were also humans before they were just turned into androids. 17s name was lapis and 18s was lazuli , Love the reactions guys I love how baris tries so hard not to spoil anything and how engaged Madison is in the story.

Android 16 is James Cameron's T800 and perfect cell is T1000 and Gohan is John Connor and Future Trunks is Kyle Reese.
In Trunks timeline Goku died 3 years before the Androids showed up, so by the time Dr Gero started to build the Androids he already knew Goku died so he programed those android to just destroy and conquer the world, and didn’t had the need to build N16, but in this timeline since Goku was still alive by the time Dr Gero started to build the Androids he programmed them not to destroy and conquer the world but to kill Goku and saw the need to build N16 as well, thats why the Androids in our timeline have different personalities from the ones Trunks knew in his timeline
Edit: **Goku died 6 months before the androids showed up, not 3 years, but thats the only thing I wrote wrong. The rest of the info is correct.

@@chukss_ It's an inconclusive explanation, because 6 months is a bit too close to the date the Androids show up. Dr. Gero in the future may not have known Goku died. It's more likely the differences between 17 and 18 in the two timelines is due to a butterfly effect.
Dr. Gero stopped monitoring Goku before his trip to Namek. He had two separate drones monitoring him. One to collect data, which he personally analyzed. And one to collect everyone's DNA to create Cell, which was handled by his supercomputer.
We know that his first drone stopped monitoring him, because him and the Androids had no data on Trunks. But the one collecting DNA did monitor Trunks, and obtained genetic material from Frieza and King Cold.
Also, it sounds like you're implying that he didn't even start building 17 and 18 (which he didn't "build". Rather, he abducted two human delinquents and modified them) until after Goku can back to Earth. I think it's more likely that he started working on 17 and 18 long before that. I think 17 and 18's history with Gero may go as far back as some time shortly after Goku defeated the Red Ribbon Army. I think they are decade-long projects.
@@Mbrace818 remember Dr Gero, just as Dr Gedo in the new movie, had a bot bug that he used to spy on everyones power level, thats how he got freeza and king cold cells for Cell, of course he knew Goku Died. And yes he started working on the androids long before that, but he could programmed them any time he wanted, so, 6 months before his plan started when he realized Goku Died he could just change their programming to just destroy and conquer the world.
Except none of this information is mentioned in the storyline and most of it came many years after the fact. Also, he programmed 17 and 18 here to obey his orders. Gero did not say he intended them only to destroy Goku. And as for 16, Gero had not completed his programing yet.
The flashback of Dr. Gero being killed by the Androids while Future Trunks was warning Goku about the Androids was a lot scarier than this

You guys need to remember that Vegeta was told what to do most of his life by Frieza , always getting called a weakling by him so he is always eager to show that he is strong and he always cts alone because that is what he was doing yes he did had Nappa but Napps only follow's Vegeta because he was stronger out of fear never as a friend . Might not entirely be a spoiler to explain to Madison that 17 and 18 are human cyborgs. The English dub explains it later, but the Japanese dub would have explained this by now, or at least strongly imply it.
When 17 was noting that 16's behavior was less human-like, he instead says in the Japanese dub that he wonders why Dr. Gero made him full machine while he and 18 are human-based.
Yeah the dub has a lot of inconsistencies that they should be aware of going forward. Especially when it deals with the Red Ribbon Army

I always found it strange that gero didn’t give himself the most powerful body. Even if he had to transplant his brain to a newer one that he invented later on. Like why put yourself in a body that can be destroyed by your other creations? Oh well
Not giving himself the more powerful body, not making a back up controller, made himself weaker to his other creations, left out Namek in their database, tries to boss around his creations that are stronger then him without any leverage, also built a fat robot that looks like the Pillsbury Dough Boy.
Needless to say he is definitely not the brightest villain and his pretty lame in general. The only thing he really his is just a small stepping stone for the next major villain and I cannot wait.

Vegeta on Namek was so much more strategic. He was happy Goku became a super saiyan to beat frieza because winning was his main focus... I don't get why he became so bull headed after Trunks arrived.

I dont think 17 and 18 in this timeline were evil or were badly behaved, Gero did treat them like crap, he kidnapped them, originally called Lapiz and Lazuil when they were children and transformed them into what they are. If I were them, I would have killed Gero too.

I think it might off been a mistake to show Madison the history of trunks movie even though I enjoyed the reactions of you guys to the movie. It's just that it spoils the element of surprise when seeing Vegeta get his beat down by Android 18 plus the history of trunks was released February 23, 1993 in japan which was when the cell games started in japan so it was never meant to be viewed so early on for first time watchers of the show
Well, the moment future trunks meets Goku, he tells him that his father and everybody die in a battle against the androids in his time. So we knew that was coming!
True! But when future trunks tells goku about himself and his timeline. The androids were only shown as huge phantoms in his flashbacks so that it wouldn’t give away there unassuming appearance until they first appear in the show which is why vegeta’s beat down to android 18 is more impactful and by watching the history of trunks you already know how powerful 18 & 17 are so it kinda off spoils that moment but it is only my opinion. Love your channel keep up the good work 😊

This anime have such a weird atmosphere with the US soundtrack. Most scenes feel really empty without the real soundtrack, the japanese one. Thank god I didn't discover DBZ this way as a kid.
