- Ron Popeil, the master showman, sold me on his pasta maker waaay back when I was a kid watching his infomercials. Today I finally get to try one! (I found it on eBay and it has come to me in mint condition in its original QVC box.) Alrighty, let's get mixing! 🍝

You’ve gotta make the chocolate pasta from the infomercial!🤣
Weird!
hahahahaa yes!!!!! I can't believe I'd actually watch infomercials! I couldn't look away! lol
@@adamhenry6793 it's a dessert pasta you'd make dessert with it such as serving it with nutella or such

🤣 YESSS!!!
Oh my goodness, that doesn't sound that great .😂🤣😂😂😂
Emmy, if you put the dye in the freezer for awhile and then hit if firmly on the counter, the pasta should come right out.
I had one back in the day (wedding gift) and I kept a bowl of ice water handy and threw the die in immediately and the bits fall right out.
I just let mine dry out a bit then smack it. Then into the dishwasher!
you're a wizard! thats brilliant
Why is it called dye?
Nari Shemintarc they’re called dies I think, not dyes
This probably qualifies as the first unboxing video of a Ronco Pasta Maker.
I owned one of these back in the day and when it comes to cleaning just wait! Once the unused pasta dries up it just falls right off of everything. Then cleanup is very simple from that point.
I was going to comment the opposite that if you clean right away and not let dry a good flushing with hot soapy water would probably clean the dyes pretty well, but either way I could see it not being too bad.
My favorite Ron Popeil moment was an infomercial in which he had someone spray paint away the bald spot on his head before he began cooking. Gotta integrate all your products!
LMAO.!! I hella remember that and the Dehydration machine. I remember being a kid and thinking "I CAN MAKE ALL THE FRUIT ROLL UP'S I DESIRE.!.!!"
I think of that product when I see cover girl root spray.
i.STiLL.FUNCTiON I thought the same thing! I dehydrated strawberries 🍓 and fruit twice, it was expensive and took days 😂 but it worked great! I did 🍇 into raisins, I was like ohhhh look at me making raisins lol 😂 and fruit roll ups lol
"But wait, there's more!"......!!/:)
@@stephaniepapaleo521 And all the Beef Jerky I want!!! (To bad it would take about 12 hours for each batch) lol
Who else thinks Emmy looks amazing in bright blue!? It compliments her skin and dark hair so nicely! Love from Texas 💕💕
I was just expressing an opinion but k. Be bitter all you want 😘
She really does and she loves that shirt because I've seen her wear it in a few videos! I would actually love to find that shirt for myself.
Lauren Madison I have a low key crush on her
I have one of these at home, his name is husband. I lucked out and married an Italian chef. We make various pasta weekly including, chocolate and squid ink pasta, but my fav is pappardelle
😂
Hilarious! 😄
Weird, the one at our house is the Wife brand. Wonder if they have the same manufacturer? lol
I have an off-brand Albanian that’s still learning to successfully make pasta 😂
Yesss pappardelle is king.
As someone who has suffered from insomnia for years, I am VERY familiar with Ron Popeil. I welcomed his infomercials. They were the most entertaining.
Sweet baby ray! How can these be vintage now?!? I remember this when I was a kid. His daughter and her friend would make chocolate spaghetti 🍝
They made fruit roll ups in the food dehydrator infomercial as well.. I remember thinking his daughter was hot lol..
Anything that is 20 years or older is considered Vintage! Lol
20 years is vintage add five more and it's classic. Nirvana is considered classic rock now for instance. Makes you feel old doesn't it?
I loved Ronco. He was a showman with an infectious enthusiasm. I always wanted his spray on hair!
Eh?
😂I forgot about that one.
@@emmymade Weird!
Ahhh yes! The shiny spray on hair! I always wondered what happened to that hair if he ran out in the rain?! hahahaha
WAS? Has he passed?
Out of all the youtubers out there that I watch. Emmy by far would be the one that I would love to meet. She is so down to earth! And I almost failed to mention that she is so knowledgeable about almost everything that she does. You are an amazing role model and overall just one fantastic woman. Thank you for everything that you do. #Role model of the year!
When I was a teenager, my family used to have one of the Ronco rotisserie chicken thingies too, and I remember the infomercial ("set it and forget it!"). It legit made SUCH good chicken. Was kind of a pain to clean the rack(s)/skewers/tray(s) though :/
Oh man.... I watched this infomercial for hours as a kid.... God I loved that pasta maker infomercial..... I remember being compelled to go make pasta and clam sauce at 4am.... And I did.
Not clam sauce. That ruins good pasta. 🤢🤮
Helix Moore that recipe was actually really good though
does anyone remember that disney channel special on pasta around the world
Yessss
Pass the plate with Brenda Song
Made by hand.....well maybe not MY hand ...
Oh yeah👍🏽
i luh zucchini 😭
Let us not forget the Ronco Pocket Fisherman. How many times I’ve been somewhere and thought “Damn, I wish I had a fishing pole”
I bought one from the commercial on TV back in the 70s...COD (cash only delivery)...my mother wanted to kill me... I was always buying stuff COD, my poor mom..lol
Your kids running off on you when you ask them to do something? Hahaha!!!
It´s always a joy to watch Emmy and her contraptions! She´s worth every subscriber she got for sure! 😊
Emmy I just saw an article about pickle snow cones?? I feel like possibly that's something you might be interested in trying?
@Katia - yasssss! Would love to see Emmy make and try a pickle snow cone! 👍
Funny. Emmy doesn't like pickles.
Emmy! Can you try making Tibetan Butter Tea??
And tsampa too
OH MY GOSH YES.
I wonder if she could find the yak butter and how different it would be from something available in the States
I finally had to throw away my Set it and Forget it the other day. I've had it for 10 years and it was my mother's before that, and who knows how long she had it. That thing got a lot of use, it lasted forever and it worked wonderfully. Not sure there's anything I didn't make in it except for soup. I bought the extra baskets for it so I could "grill" fish. steaks, veges, etc. Was going to buy another one but opted for an Air Fryer Toaster Oven instead. Regretting that decision. Sadly the As Seen on TV stuff today is nowhere near the quality of the Popeil machines.
Ronco products were awesome! I still have my Showtime Rotisserie. When I first got it my roommate and I stood there watching the chicken like people from a National Geographic special! Back when "as seen on TV" products still had quality! So happy to see you have fun with the pasta maker!
Quick tip of the day: Emmy, when pouring oil out of a rectangular tin, orient the spout to the top, you'll get less glug-glug. (Air has a chance to get in above the oil coming out).
There should be K-TEL’s Gold Rock album playing in the background...
/Kneading screw!?! 🤣
I just bought a $7 Sunbeam bread maker in perfect condition from goodwill because of these videos. Your starting an addiction! ;) Mmm pasta maker, looks fun.
Omg I loved those early 90s infomercials when I was a kid! We didn’t have cable tv, just a giant aerial antenna because we lived in a small country town and my sister and I would wake up in the middle of the night and watch the only thing on - Ronco infomercials, until the TV went blank for the end of programming! Haha! I still dream of turkey jerky being made in his dehydrators Hahahaha 🤣🤣🤣
Same here!!!! Good times tho!!!
Someone gave my mom a funky pasta maker back in the late 60s and we spent one summer making a ton of pasta (eventually we had to start drying it for later).I don't remember the brand of the machine, but now I want one so badly!!! Thanks for a fun video!
To clean the dies on your pasta maker: You can soak them in warm soapy water for a while, then clean with an old toothbrush to get in the grooves and spaces.
do a live on the 60s
Damn I’m old if we’re calling this vintage
bw2082 sounds like you are, yeah.
1999 was 20 years ago. Let that sink in. XD
Don't remind me lol
Keely this was way before 1999
Same
I just wanna pipe up... while Ronco is in the throes of Chapter 7 bankcuptcy, Ron Popeil the man is actually still alive and in good health as of the publication of this video.
The Dee except he was smart enough to sell Ronco for 60 million in 2005.
@@deeprose4 It was probably doing well then, and perhaps might still be if Ron were running it.
RIP Ron Poeil :(
He passed away today...July 28, 2021
My grandma and aunt were obsessed with Ron Popeil, They had EVERYTHING. After they passed away, we just put them all in our basement. I'll have to go check them out!
They just announced that Ron Popeil has died!
I grew up watching Ron Popeil infomercials. I watched all the infomercials from the Express Ready Set Go, Magic Bullet, Shark Vaccuum, FlavorWave oven, Miracle Blade, George Foreman Grill, but Ron was my favorite with the Rotisserie.
The only infomercials product my parents ever bought was the George Foreman Grill. We used it like twice and it sat in a cabinet never to be used again.
Could you do the Rotisserie? (Set it and forget it)
🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣 Set it and forget it🤣😂🤣😂😂😂
The most annoying infomercial ever lol 😂
A great product!
I have a friend who still uses hers!
Got one and they are great actually!!! Use it during hurricanes because I can plug it up to the generator ,roast a whole chicken, and steam veggies in the top. Hour later I got a great meal for the fam even when the lights are out!!!! Hopefully I don't need it for Dorian!!!
Love it! Not only did I get to see you work a vintage machine, I got a simple pasta sauce recipe. Thank you, Emmy. You're awesome. 😊👍
You can probably clean the dices by soaking them in hot water, so that the dough loosen and make cleaning easier
An entire Ronco series would be amazing! So many amazing informercials by Ron.
I loved that infomercial as a kid. One of my favorite parts was when he put together the clam sauce. It always looked sooo good to me!
Awe Emmy! My late mom had one of these. We used to love making terrible pasta with it!
Why terrible??
Steve1989MREinfo would have definitely used that 20 year old flour 😂😂😂
"Kneading screw!!!"
I remember watching Ron Popeil's infomercials on Saturdays when nothing else was on.
Yay I’m early! Kneading screw!?! 🤣 love you Emmy! ♥️♥️
This was such an exciting video! I've always wanted one of those pasta makers too!!
Watching and listening to you Emmy is just calming and so relaxing 💕
I loved infomercials when I was growing up, which is probably why I'm obsessed with buying random kitchen appliances now.
Sidenote: Kneading screw!?! 🤣
i remember staying up late at night solely to watch the ronco infomercials. i always wanted the knife sets he sold.
Did it slice, did it dice?
I love Emmy. She makes me believe there are good people in the world! 😊
Emmy, your excitement is heartwarming to watch, it brings the child out of all of us :)
I love that you did this video!! Tfs😍🤗
I have been binge watching kitchen nightmares and most of the restaurants seen to be Italian and it has me feeling to make fresh pasta.
I love when an as seen on TV gadget actually works really well!!!
Yay! Your gadget test videos are my favorite! 😊
Yummm. Looks great. And i loved the old infomercials! Thanks for the great video!
Well, there's always the Ronco Pocket Fisherman! 😁😁😁
I always wanted to make pasta... I remember my mom telling me of my grandma making pasta and drying it out on strings all along the kitchen and house. It looks so fun to do 🙂
Thanks Emmy. I always wanted one. Great fun!
You are amazing. Getting so excited about an antique ronco pasta maker, just adorable.
I remember those tv infomercials, they always hooked me. Lol
I feel like the dies might clean easily by soaking them in hot water for just a little while, spraying them at fairly high pressure with the sprayer on your faucet, then giving them a simple wash with soapy water to get any residual dough off.
I could, of course, be wrong. :D
Ice water does the trick
Hot water will make it more gummy, same with oatmeal.
theoriginaledi dyes.
@@TrekJohnDoe No. Dies. Dyes are to colour your hair and easter eggs.
@@meowrchl97 Huh? No. The dough dissolves into the water, and rinses away. There isn't that much in there.
Ron Popeil was a rock star!! The pasta maker and the food dehydrator were my favorite infomercials when I was a kid.. I had forgotten all about this..
I just love how excited you get. Love watching all your videos.
I am new to the Emmy fan club, but Gurl! You rock so hard! I love your thorough descriptions of both the tools and the menu items you make. You have a fresh and fabulous take on the cooking tip, and I am hooked on your program. THANK YOU!!
Ron was The Godfather of Made For TV products...and it almost all works
Omg! I had one of these. Made pasta successfully one time.
What happened to the others times?
Ashamed to admit this but it was easier to buy the pasta. Cleanup was a pain. For me it was the kitchen equivalent of a treadmill in the family room.
I had a yogurt machine. You had to get the milk warmed up to the right temperature (115° fahrenheit), over night cooking time. If that was not enough, more cooking time. Chilling time. I used it about three times and it was easier just to buy the yogurt. It went to the back of the cabinet and there it stayed. I was moving and I gave it to a friend of mine.
Oh my goodness!🙀 This was such a delight to watch! I will definitely be looking for a vintage pasta maker now 😍
I wish I could give this 100 thumbs up! I remember those infomercials and always WANTING the pasta maker! How fun to watch... I now know how to make fresh pasta on my own and it is so much better than packaged. SOOO silky!
SET IT AND FORGET IT! (I know, this was the rotisserie, but it was a reflex!)
Heather McC the mere mention of Ron Popeil’s name and I automatically want to say “set it and forget it!”
I found a New one on eBay, and ordered it! I see fresh pasta this fall & winter.
That was a lot of fun to watch! Thanks, Emmy!
watching this video made me so happy and excited
After these tests, what do you do with the vintage machines? Do you keep them? Do you have a whole room full of old gadgets?
I usually give them away on my social media. 🎰
Emmy if you decide not to keep the pasta maker, I will by it for you.
Hey Emmy. On your next road trip you definitely need to make a stop at Jungle Jims International food market. everything that you have tasted and i mean everything that you have tasted they have there, including the Japanese candy kits that you have done in the past. would make a great video for you. P.S. always look forward to your videos
Yes! An excellent suggestion. I'm another SW Ohio resident who knows exactly what youre talking abt. An absolutely wonderful international experience.
@@mollyroberts2458 Me too! I'm in Madison, IN.and I go to that J Js in Cincy!
i have wanted one of these since i first watched the infomercial. OMG. i am so happy you found one. i LOVE your tester videos. yay!
I just discovered your channel and I’m hooked. I see you made some Louisiana cooking I’m from Louisiana and if it walks, crawls, swims or flies we eat it down here lol. But we have something down here that I haven’t found anywhere else and that is tomato gravy with biscuits so can you please cook that in one of your videos please.
That sounds good to me, too. I second his emotion!
Note to myself : do not watch Emmy's videos just before going to bed, you'll end up hungry... 😉

Ronco made a lot of great products except the Ronco Record Vault and its key design flaw in it's structural resonance frequency

Your enthusiasm from this fun little machine is absolutely joyful. Thank you for brightening my day!
Wonderful!!! Brought back memories of when I worked in a small pasta shop. The Ronco machine is exactly like the large, industrial machine we used - only in plastic & much smaller. The dies on the industrial machine are made of brass and would heat up as the dough was pushed through them. This would limit the amount of pasta you could make at one go. The clean-up factor is just the same, big or small. Those pesky little holes full of dough!!! We just soaked them in cool water for quite a while and then scrubbed them with a stiff brush. All the dough came out very easily. Most of it sort of dissolved in the cool water. You could also blow through the die once it has soaked long enough. We didn’t do that in the pasta shop, of course! But, at home, you could do that and then wash it well. Loved the video. I have no suggestions for you. Looking forward to your next one. 👵🏻🐾💕🇨🇦
Hey Emmy! I’m from New England! Hello from Boston!!
Hello from Cape Ann!
When it comes to kitchen gadgets, I follow a strict "if cleaning takes longer than using, don't buy it" policy.
Have a look at the other comments above yours though, from people who've already used and cleaned it! To recap: either let the pasta dry in the holes or freeze the dyes before trying to clean them. Either way, the pasta falls right out on it's own!
It’s really easy to clean, I promise. You just have to let it dry up first, it will come off like a breeze, the holes will clean up better if you let it dry a bit also.
Awesome. So deeply satisfying too.
yes queen we love consistent uploads!
I thought there was fruit fly on my screen and then I remembered what you just said. 😂
“Needing Screw” - that was my nickname back in high school.
I loved that infomercial too! My aunt bought one and we had a pasta day where we made a bunch of the pastas he made in the commercial. We even made the chocolate pasta. It was fun and a memory I will never forget!
I love the way Emmy eats any noodles: "Slurp!" She's so adorable! 😊
America's sweetheart hands down ! Thank you for being "you". Who else would give a bio on Ron Popeil?
I always feel like Emmy really wants us to take care.
I love how excited you are!!! Lol
I have had one of these for years!! I love mine and it’s fun for the kids :)
I loved my Ronco Rotisserie cooker. I bought the XL one that cooked a delicious 14lb turkey. Made awesome chickens
I just got a kick out of you saying "a delicious 14 lb. turkey!" I'm not sure if you are quoting the infomercial, but that definitely sounds like Popeilism!
