I have carved many bowls for my family, but this may be the most important video I’ve watched! Many ideas on how to speed up the process. I love it!
Oh such wonderful carving technique and design! I am reminded of the ships on display at the museum in Oslo. Just gorgeous, Thankyou!
Holy smokes, I feel like I’m at my uncle richies. My uncle At 84 still going strong from sawmill to blanket boxes. Love this guy and my family for showing me there talents and tricks

A man with a tuneless whistle is a truly focused man
Starts off thinking pretty basic stuff. Then he leads you into his craft slowly but surely and you make the conclusion this guy is a master carver. He knows the woods limitations and its potential. Thankyou.
If I lived by him, he would never get rid of me
A dying craft, getting the best out of your tools, trusting your tools and knowing how to gain the best from your tools! Not a CNC MACHINE to be seen.
Brilliant video, thanks for sharing your time and knowledge with us.
Take care.
Hello from Utah, i love carving wood bowls spoons etc , thanks .
Great craftsmanship... I really enjoy watching skilled people use hand tools to create such simply beautiful and useful items..... thanks for posting this video.
I would love to have a Bengt Lidström bowl. I carve bowls myself and he is one of my inspirations!
Man I'm suddenly into wood carving and this is one of my new favorite videos
Amazing craftsman.what one hand creates for the next. I cant help but admire not only the creativeness of the carver but also the gorgeous tools he is using. Kudos to the blacksmith that made his craft possible. well done ! thanks for sharing.
Great to see Bengt Lidström in action. I've read alot about and by him. He made so much more then carving bowls but judging on the skill one can think he did nothing else! Västerbotten (a part of Sweden where he worked) have alot to thank him for saving many many old houses and churches. He made amazing open fireplaces also.
Kii
Very nice thank you for taking the time show us your work sir
Your the real deal just got a big lath just this month feeling like a bad ass Well I’ve just been humbled I have a lot to learn thank you sir
Ha ha, no longer pissed off at his wife, boss, or politics, you have found the answer! Whistling along, happy as a clam and beating the crap out of that log. I am a subscriber now, you sold me! Keep whacking. Great exercise, too.I hope you live in Maine, my birth state, looks kind of like it. Ahh Sweden! Well, it is an honor to view a great man. Thanks to the person who made this video.
I hope I am able to move around like that at 82. Wonderful video...
Awesome video! His bowls are incredible and that chair is flawless
I visited my ancestral home of Norway for the first time, 8 years ago and was given some very old carving tools from the 1820’s which should be restored. Some of the wooden planes even have Norse designs cut into them.
Such craftsmanship.
Wow!! Thank you for sharing.. If I lived next to you I'd be your Dennis the Menace. I'd want to hang out in your shop and watch you all the time. You wouldn't be able to get rid of me :)
Wonderful! Thankyou for posting this. Lovley bowls.
Simply amazing I am mesmerized by the skill and patience in your art. Great Job! The Rebel Turner
Man this true master Craftsman is amazing.. would have loved the chance to learned from and worked with him.
We are very fortunate that Country Workshops made this video which gives us the opportunity to learn from him to some degree. I come back time and time again as I carve bowls to pick up tips by watching him.
Hi! Very very thank You Master! Good prezentation! Good luck! I am polish sculptor and bushcrafter.
No doubt, he's a great bowler.
Um dos melhores artesão que já vi... Parabens tiuzão...
This is great thanks for posting this up Drew!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful work.
wonderful work and skilled craftsmanship I honour him ,,
I am also amazed at the manual dexterity of someone his age. I also enjoy hand carving bowls but use more many more electrical enhancements LOL
Beautiful work. FWIW - This isn't a video on tool safety.
bravo
Great video. Thanks! What kind of paint does he use, oil-based? Что за краску он использовал, кто в курсе. Похоже, что масло в основе.
Muy buena talla
А дедуля бодрячком
If it were me, I would fix the rough bowl to the bench take 3 strokes with the adze and then remember where I had balanced my mug of coffee
Who said “sharpen his tools”. After 60 yrs of this he may have learned that this way he has better depth control.

Aint nobelly fat on this guy...adza way to do it now!
do we know what paints he used? lost sound at that part
You have great wood working skills, I saw some lovely pieces of art, although the painted ones looked beautiful I would prefer an unpainted one, perhaps finished with some type of oil, how much would you charge for a piece like the one you just done.
Scott Carse I'm sorry for the confusion but Country Workshops does not sell these bowls, they just produced the film.
That's a shame, carry on the good work anyway.
+Scott Carse This guy, is brilliant. He has made most of what is around him, buildings, bowls and tools to name a few.... he's A STAR
What do you paint on the wood
what is the name of the adze you are using?
Does anyone know what kind of wood he is using? Thanks!
I belive its aspen that has been laying outside for some time. Can be wrong tho.
You saw Mr. Lyndstrom use a chain saw for what he thought was appropriate cuts. But saying that you could carve a bowl like this using only a chainsaw or do it faster is just blind and dumb. Let's see you do it. I challenge you to carve a Swedish Bowl like with all the subtle curves and decoration using a chainsaw. Put you idea where your mouth is and then show us on CZcams.
What kind of wood is it
Can anyone steer me to a good two-handed bowl adze similar to the one he's using?

Like a cereal bowl or a popcorn bowl. You have to be more specific.
все замечательно кроме краски поверх дерева. Это какой-то моветон
Bitte immer Deutschen Untertitel dazu geben.
I'm not talking about all electric tools. Up to date hand tools, just replace some of his tools. I was saying I could of done alot w/ the electric chainsaw he was using, That's all
14:00- "Carved"
Needs to sharpen his tools.
Cutting tools seem to be a bit dull.
I see this man never answers any questions!? , not even complements, is he ok n alive today!?

But since Im a democrate, atheist, a logician, and I voted for Biden, I can rest easy knowing your skills of deduction are amateur at best.
So, it doesn't bother me. Would you be bothered if someone couldn't provide rational claims against you so they just made jokes because their ability to deduce one fact from another is flawed? I wouldn't.
