- Showrunner Sessions is our ongoing event series where we go one-on-one with a showrunner (or showrunning team) to find out, “What exactly does a showrunner do?” Find out what they look for in a writing staff, the lessons they’ve learned on the job, and their approaches to running the room.
For this session, YELLOWJACKETS creators and showrunners Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson and executive producer and co-showrunner Jonathan Lisco chat with fellow writer and showrunner Julie Plec (Legacies, The Originals). They discuss the journey of bringing the drama pilot to Showtime, how they run the room together, and the unique challenges of producing the first season of a new show.

Fantastic interview. Only thing I’d say is about the comment at the end about having to “top the previous season each time.” Not at all!! Just continue the tone, and pay off the stuff you’ve set up.
Really enjoying the series. I was immediately, who's writing this? It seems rare to find something half decent. Its a dream of mine to be a part of a writing team. I have a really cool idea for a story, has to do with newly developed psychedelic mushroom strain that triggers a peaceful world revolution and transition to an anarcho communist world utopia. Basically show the real world how its done.
Awesome listen!
i just hope ben doesn't die, and he's a survivor. Like PLEASE 😩😩😭😭 He's my favorite character
Do you like him better or worse now that it looks like he tried to burn everyone alive lol?
The interviewer could take it easy, just a thought
I really hope that Yellowjackets, which is one of the best shows on television imo, stays FAR away from the exhaustingly implausible and tediously banal narrative style of TVD and Legacies.
They've started much stronger than both those shows so I'm hopeful
Bart’s stuttering is too much for me
why did you feel the need to comment that? Was it worth it just to be unkind? If that is too much for you you will Neve make it as a writer
