Dam that bike is sweet. I remember racing a 76 yz 125 and 77 yz 250 at Saturday saddleback park. Two 45 minute motos during the summer was fun. I'm 61 now and this makes me want a bike again.

125's are so rad. So light, revhappy and just unbeatable on singletrack. I rode a husky wr125 for 2 years and loved the thing to death.

stoked on this. i’m 16 years old, 5’6 lol, and ride a 18 te150 and i’m thinking of moving to the yz125 because of the simplicity of the damn thing. it’s an absolute tank and I prefer how it looks.

For sure with the electron! Very few people can tune jets as good as these run out of the box.
You should do technical tips like k rail jumps, logs, wheelies, and other trick you got up your sleeves!

I race in hard enduro competitions. I ride an exc 300 but practice on a 125, I would like to see how this one does. I have subscribed. Cant wait for the videos.
BeRad, I'm building an 06 YZ125 this winter to go along with my 06 YZ250. From what I understand the major changes to make the engine a125X are the head, spark plug, and ignition timing. Timing might be tough but do you know if the head will swap onto an 06?
What bikes did you learn the trials & enduro skills on? Is a 125 a decent substitute for an actual trials bike for picking up those enduro/trials skills? I'm thinking lighter is better, and an actual trials bike is something like 60 lb lighter.

ORiJiNaL GaMeSTa I’ll start by saying I love the 150’s...but I love this more. It’s more playful, feels lighter and more nimble. And it’s certainly more simple and much less expensive. I have zero complaints so far about it. Once I added the Lectron that is! Lol

Okay question should I buy a yz125x I owned a CR250R and I loved the fun Factor it was so awesome but the suspension was way too hard and I can never dial back the power enough for me to be able to enjoy it fully would the 125 x be a.... more controlable 2 stroke fun trail bike?

Torn between the 125x and 250x I test rode the 250x (no 125x local to test ride yet 😥)and I'm in love with the 250x! but thinking the 125x being lighter and shorter would help me a bit on some of the off camber rocky stuff, but worried it wont have the drive for some of the long loose hillclimbs around me...

Cool vid but why not make some jetting changes before swapping carbs? The lectrons aren't as durable as the OE so why not try to make it work?
Michael S not as durable? Not sure what you mean by that as I’ve never had an issue with the lectron in a combined 300 or so hours using them. Also, the mikuni is straight garbage. Pissed out more fuel than it burned...not even worth trying to re-jet. Not to mention temperature change alone here in Texas will make you have to re tune every damn day lol
@@BeRAD the casting just doesn't seem like the same quality, everytime I take the top off mine im worried about the screws stripping out. As for sensitive jetting on a mikuni I must have a unicorn because I ride at 2200' in 50 degree weather and 6-8k feet in 90 degree weather and only make mild changes. Possibly KTMs are more sensitive?
I just got the 125x and little worried about the maintaince after looking at the manual. Replace ring after 12 hours ? What is your opinion on this schedule I don't race I trail ride. I want to ride more than work on bike lol. What is your experience on this?
moto adventure I have 35 hours on the bike now and plan to go to like 100 before doing anything lol. Don’t worry about it. Mix 40:1, get a lectron from my website so you’re running good and proper fueling, and don’t engine brake! It’ll hold up.

This YZX seems to have pretty good over rev. I can only imagine how light it feels. Have you had a chance to get it on big hills yet? I love how flickable a 125 is, but man, you really have to work at it to get up a snotty hill with rocks. Say something like Hatfield, Rock House. Would like to know your thoughts... By chance does electron make carburetors that will work for older 2 strokes? I have a 91 Honda cr125r that could use a new carburetor but I would like to be sure that it will work for my bike before I purchase one.
Absolutely, a lectron will totally help. Provided the rest of the engine is healthy fresh. Remember more then 30 hours means fresh toned time. Single piston ring pistons never last any longer without risk of major issues.

Nah 200 Kawasaki did it kdx200 6sp 90s 2stroke that can keep up with a new 500 Ktm exc

He's probably better off on something smaller and lighter, especially when it comes to the more technical stuff.

As someone once told me it’s better to ride a slow bike fast rather than a fast bike slow
@@sicklad3277 not really, the tighter it is the more you need to lug it down lower in the revs, thats what 300s do so well, 125s shine when it opens up and you can be on the pipe.

You ever gonna come north to ride? Never see ya at races either where ya at fella. For hard enduro e start is a must when your perched on the side of a cliff with no room or a crazy climb e start is a must. Come on north and ride some hard enduro with us .

deon van zyl i don’t know about perform but yeah I’ll get some race footage eventually. I don’t really do races. Never been super into it. Redbull/kenda Rev limiter extreme enduro was fun. I plan to do it again this year and get video. Hopefully it’s not raining...footage was shit from last year.
