      Yeah I tried taking notes on I-No, then realized she has a higher barrier of entry than most characters, so I can't just scrap together a 15 - 25 minute beginner video very easily. That's why I made a Slayer video instead, since he's much simpler.
      I used to play I-No, ironically, when my hands were faster and I thought fancy combos were everything.
      I've never played Jam. I tend to avoid characters with obnoxious voices. But I plan to make at least one video for every character, so we'll see.

      Here's an example of Faust desyncing the game against Kliff during a tournament. Faust and Zappa both have randomness built into their kit, so, sometimes, when one of those characters is in the game, the two players' machines calculate different results, and they become desynced. It might already be patched out, but I haven't heard anything about it.
      Funnily enough, ALL replays have a chance of desyncing, whether or not one of those characters was played. The replay function is completely broken, so make sure to manually record your matches with OBS or something if you want to learn from watching your own replays. You can also go to online tournaments, where the replays are all saved.

      The game is still very much alive if you just play the game on Network. I never use Ranked mode, though. Be sure to turn off all the extra character types, since they are pretty broken and definitely tournament illegal. I'm pretty strict about the quality of connections I play, and I still never really have trouble finding matches.
      If you want to set something up, you can find the discord form this spreadsheet:

    Instead of links what slayer has the proper term is called Delayed Gatlings.

    • @Moqlnkn
      @Moqlnkn  Před 3 lety +7

      That is correct. Internally, they're programmed the same as most gatlings, except the window to perform the gatling is more precise and well after the attack lands - most characters' gatlings are immediately as the attack lands, during the hitstop, making it easy to get the same timing each time. Slayer doesn't have that.
      The result is them feeling like links, although the frame data won't tell you what links are possible. You kind of just have to memorize the useful ones, or look at his gatling table.
      At the end of the day, what we call them and how they are programmed aren't as important as "what works and what doesn't work" for you as player.

    The super you said doesn't get used I see both EN and tanabata use in combos if opponents have no burst for maximizing damage. Such as this combo: twitter.com/tanabataheidern/status/1324671942549364737

    • @Moqlnkn
      @Moqlnkn  Před 3 lety

      I feel like that combo is... quite unpractical, but, sure - it's not the case that "nobody uses it." I overexaggerated. I suppose certain Japanese players are prone to make the unpractical practical.
      Looking more closely, the name is "tanabata heidern" which, if that's not their real name, might be a KoF reference... which would explain why this person has great execution.

    • @HS_Gomikubi
      @HS_Gomikubi Před 3 lety

      @@Moqlnkn Old comment chain is old, but the combo in this twitter link? Only the starter (counterhit FB pile at precise near corner position) is "impractical" in that it's a stray hit you'd need at least 75% meter at start to follow with Direct Hit Dandy (the name of this swagger move.) But getting said super to do close to it's 260 total base damage (160 from upper hit, 100 from lower) with barely any guard gauge reduction and a full followup combo can be done against any character from any screen position, provided you land a starter that gets them airborne with the meter to spare. His anti-airs all accomplish this for free, the only trouble after that is getting the right vertical position for the hits to both connect in the right order which requires spatial awareness and good timing. This is not something a beginner can quickly grasp, but it is the means by which Slayer can do the most damage for 50% meter aside from landing a counterhit DoT. There are different setups that vary in optimization by matchup, 1 hit of j.S is the easiest one that works against the most characters. That said, even without both hits the one you want has massive untech time (and again, barely reduces guard bar) so it's still solid damage when done early even with a basic route.
      Also, this move is a powerful defensive tool as well. It's a freaking reversal, can be airthrown if baited but the block punish is surprisingly hard if your opponent hasn't specifically labbed it. Basically though, if you have the meter available you can jump at Sol and stuff him with this for trying to VV you in anticipation of j.HS. This leads to a massive counterhit combo that will probably result in stun if the super itself hasn't already or they don't burst. Generally speaking there are many, many anti-airs opponents can go for that will reasonably contest j.HS but get outright stuffed by this move. Also it's pretty fast, which allows it to punish a number of setplay tools an opponent might think they have time to get away with just because you're airborne (Dizzy Fish, Zappa Summon, etc)
      I use this move a lot with my pocket Slayer, it's easily his most underrated tool IMO.
