Sydney stabbings: 6 killed, suspect shot dead by police who say attack not terror-related

- New South Wales police believe a Sydney knife attack is not terror related, Commissioner Karen Webb said in a briefing on Saturday.
Officials suspect a 40-year-old man to be responsible for the incident - which left seven people dead, including the attacker - but they will wait to conduct a full investigation before confirming the suspect's identity, they said.
The attacker fatally knifed six people in a Sydney mall and was shot dead by police in Sydney's beachside suburb of Bondi on Saturday, as hundreds fled the scene, police said.
Australia has some of the world's toughest gun and knife laws, and attacks such as the one on Saturday are rare.

People need to know stabbing in Sydney is quite normal occurrence for some suburb. There are 4 different stabbing incident in Sydney including this one over the last 3 days. Resulting in 8 killed (IIRC)

I often think the same thing about Canada, where I live. We have crazy horrible people too, and in the past decade there was a man who ran down a family on the sidewalk on purpose 😢 and also some stabbings. As bad as that is, it's so much safer than our southern neighbours who have a school full of children slaughtered every month or so because they let everyone have a gun.
