    Good construction superintendents are worth there weight in gold especially if they can move projects forward toward completion

      It is VERY rewarding to see a project from start to finish. I started as a pipelayer doing storm pipe and moved into operating heavy equipment within a year. As I moved out of utilities into heavy dirt work as an operator, I can tell you every project you do is rewarding. Eventually as I became a Superintendent, the stress & responsibilities increase but it is worth every minute of it.

      @@kendallbanks5440 Im 45 and recently became a super for a company in GA. If you can walk and do the other things listed in the video youll be fine.

    I am a commercial construction superintendent in San Diego, CA. I love my job. Started from a labor, carpenter.

      @@fightingirish8584 no, i did bricklaying few years ago but inly for a year. So i learnt the basics and technique. But i am starting an apprenticeship that has to do with roadworks and i think construction sites.

    " Bitter carpenter intentionally leaves out Ironworkers from trades.... "
    To the one called " No Comment " below, the Most Appropriate answer that I can recall is when I heard a Carpenter once say ;
    " I'm Going to Learn you HOW To Become a Carpenter " !

    Is the same as being a general contractor ? I’ve worked with my dad on Residential homes remodeling them & I’m trying to study that in college but I don’t know if I’m about to apply for the right thing or not..

    I want to go into construction management, but could I start off as a construction superintendent then work up to project manager?

      4 years university for Bachelors in Construction Management.

      PM and CS are on the same level, some senior superintendents earn more than project managers.

      You can obtain a CCM cert. with some experience you may be able to supplement that for a degree

      No there is a construction management program both bachelors and masters. Do that you’ll start as assistant site super or project coordinator. Then you’ll have to climb the ranks

      I did it in 4 years i did not know how to di anything and started in dry wall in 4 years i got to a superintendent position for a comercial general construction company
