  • The oil pump o ring failure is a common issue on LS engines with age.
    This includes the Chevy 5.3 and Chevy 6.0 along with Yukon, Escalade, Suburban, Silverado's, Sierras, etc.
    This video is to demonstrate a way to change the o ring without necessitating dropping the oil pan.
    The o ring is available here:

    Yeah, probably more than 3 hours. I dropped the pan on my 4x4 and it took me a full day. Very satisfying when your oil pressure returns. I had mechanics quote me $800 in labor to replace a $3 part. Such a bad design on GM's part.

      I didn't drop the pan on this 4X4. I did it from the front by rotating the bracket that holds the o ring. It was about 3 hours start to finish.

      @@jeremyjones8872 It looks like there is a service port on the side of the block that can be used to prime it.

    So I’m not understanding what you did. You replace the O-ring between the the pump and the pickup tube? Not understanding at all. Trying to find video now on how to replace oil pump on a 4.3L Chevy s10. 2002. Can’t seem to find a decent one.

      Yes the o ring was the culprit. This is a 5.3 V8 so I'm not sure how helpful it will be for you.

    How tough is it to get the harmonic balancer bolt off?

    • @bruceyyyyy
      @bruceyyyyy  Před rokem +1

      Mine came right off with an M18 impact. I then removed the pulley with a puller and reinstalled it by heating the balancer up before sliding it over the crankshaft.

      @@bruceyyyyy I have the M18 impact. I only have about 60% luck getting things off. End up using the breaker bar a lot. Some say it’s the 5.0 battery. I’m not sure.

      It definitely does better with my 9/12AH batteries but it gets heavy with those.
