    That was a great explanation of how it works, as well, my friend! Great tips! Have a Renegade with sloppy steering I need to fix and this helps a lot! Cheers from the middle of nowhere Alaska!

      I got the pitman arm from RMATV, they always seem to have the best prices and the delivery is usually pretty quick. "Ride Hard and Be Safe" MN Bill "thanks for the comment"

    Good video. No where does the service manual state to loosen those 4 bolts to get the pitman arm out.. wasted so much time until I found this video. Good stuff. I didn’t end up pulling the pitman arm I pulled the bushings, greased them real good and out it all back and tightened both upper and lower pinch bolts tight. Seems to have tightened up the steering. Still need to get up to the top bushing to get rid of the squeak

    Awesome video! Was not sure how to get that pitman out, just not enough room to slide it out with that bracket, will have to give it a try tomorrow, how come you cut the gap larger?

      If the original arm stretched enough to completely pinch together, the replacement might too. I just gave it a little more room to tighten. "Ride Hard and Be Safe" MN Bill

    Where was your play evident on the steering columns and down when moving the handle? I have that kind of play but when I look at the side and move my handle the play is above the DPS motor.

      I could move my handle bars about 2 inches right to left before the tires would move. When I lifted Sonny off the ground, it was clear it was the pitman arm on the lower shaft of the power steering unit. If you have a loose shaft above the PSU, that's a whole different story. You can tighten that bolt but if it's still loose, that's the bottom of your steering shaft. Now you've got a lot of disassembling to do. Check again. A loose pitman arm is really common on the Outlander and Renegade. Also check the steering with the PSU powered up. It' might be ok or maybe (hopefully not) you have a problem with your PSU. Good luck and let me know what happens. MN Bill

      @@minnesotaxmr what is improved with the new pitman arm design?

    • @minnesotaxmr
      @minnesotaxmr  Před 2 lety

      @@TheSponge945 The design hasn't change. Replacing the worn out pitman arm will bring back your steering. You won't have to over correct your steering going down the trail. Thanks for the ? "Ride Hard and Be Safe" MN Bill
