Can am Outlander max DPS not working…

  • This 2020 can am outlander max 650 with tracks came into the shop to have the DPS power steering checked out. Let's repair it and then take it for a test ride.

      Yes absolutely! If it wasn’t for the air box being in the way of the steering stem mount, it probably wouldn’t be to bad..

      Trails are closed around me as well. These are my personal trails i was on, which is what i have until around May when the trail system opens up.

      It sure is growing, thanks to all of you that watch the content! I charged 3 hours for this job, it did take me a little longer than that due to some Software issues i was having with my diagnostics system.

    Power steering motor looked a lot easier to change than on the Polaris quads

      It was easier than the Polaris, would be a lot easier if the air box didn’t have to be removed.

      My tracked 05 800 Sportsman with aftermarket EZ Steer failed at splined coupling. Weld broke at steering stem. Lucky I was going slow.

      I haven’t had much experience with the aftermarket setups. Never seen one brake like that though, did you hit something to cause that?

      I know a lot of people have had issues with them… I’ve been happy with mine though, 210,000 miles and climbing.

      @@rockspowersportsthat gives me hope! I like to ask people that have them. I have a 2016 with 100,000miles. I haven’t had any issues either. Cheers.

      I’ve had a few issues over that 200,000 but most of them are recalls now.
      If yours still has its emission system in tact I’d keep an eye on your coolant level. My EGR cooler started leaking around 100,000. I believe it’s a recall now though.

    My power steering stopped working on my 2020 570 dps but I never got an engine light or anything and have no way too check it for a code, any recommendations besides taking it too a dealer?

    hey rock quick question for you if you dont mind.i got a 2006 polaris sportsman 500 efi with engine light on.had flashing battery light at high rpm,replaced stator was bad and now all good,but check engine light still on?this year polaris dont have that turn key back and forth and code appears.the check engine dont flash,just stays on.any help would be so great.thank you

      Unfortunately I’m not sure unless you could get the check engine to flash to see what code it says. Did you check the running voltage at the battery to make sure it’s not spiking?

    hi. would it be a good deal to buy honda rincon 2008 650 it has 6000miles of mileage costs around 4-4.5k

    What does that track module do?

      It recalibrates the speedometer due to the lower gearing. Also changes how much assist the eps gives you.

      How do you access the bolts for the steering stem? The service manual even suggests pulling the front fenders but I got around that.

      ⁠@@rockspowersportsyou do not have remove the steering stem Remove the bolts off of the power steering bracket unit and it will drop low enough to come off
