- Childhood dreams do come true!!! When your back yard is a wreck and you want to do something fun and crazy before you completely redo it....what does one do?.....build a mini golf course of course! 🤩
This is actually only part 1 (first 10 holes) of the course. We are waiting for a tree removal guy to clean up the back yard and then we will complete the last 8 holes. That video will be coming soon, I promise. I hope this video inspires and helps with your own ideas to build something amazing and fun that will create memories that will last a lifetime. Life is just too short to be boring and frugal all the time.
If you have any questions about anything you see in the video, just throw it in the comments. I'm pretty good about responding.
Thanks so much for watching and make sure to subscribe so you don't miss part 2 😉
Be blessed!
We recently moved to a large lot & have an easement that we can't put anything permanent on. I had an idea of using that area for mini-golf, but what I was seeing was permanent in-ground installations. Thanks so much for the video. This helps me visualize how we can make this happen! :)
This is pretty awsome. I love the idea of you allowing your community to come and play for free, pretty cool.
Thats so cool!!!
One thing I would suggest to add is a line in the begging of each section so that everyone know where to place the ball or a dot.
@@wenix4934 on our score cards it says to start behind the hole number on each hole.
Looks great!
Amazing job!
Thank you for the ideas, really good. We are planning a street party and are going to have a hole in every front garden. We will be using some of your thoughts.
Wow, that’s so cool. Thanks! That sounds like a blast for sure.
I have almost 8 of my 9 holes finished thanks to you ! Will hopefully post a link.
That’s awesome! Would love to see it!
I just found this today! Love it! WOW!
Thanks so much!
Love it, been thinking about this for a while now! Motivated to try and make a few holes!
Heck ya! Go for it! 👊🏻💪🏼
Do it. Life is short. Do what you enjoy.
I recently had a dream of this and have been putting ideas in motion lately. I am near you in Hutchinson Ks
Great Imagination!! 👍👍
Thanks! Make sure to watch part 2, it shows the whole course completed. (18 holes)
That's my dream backyard. I love golfing and mini golf.
Bro….I’m not gonna lie, it’s pretty sweet!
I love the intro mini golf and metal core amazing
Thanks so much!🤘🏼
You are amazing Josh! I can't wait to come over and beat you at your own mini golf. ;)
Bring it on.
Awesome great job
🤘🏼
Thank everyone for sharing such a great time!
You guys did a fantastic job. I’m thinking of doing something very similar.
Go for it and make some unforgettable memories with your family and friends!
Yeah nice job.
👊🏻💪🏼
That is so cool
Thanks! Make sure to watch part 2 and you can see the whole course.
Nice Id love to do that in the future and a disc golf course if big enough
You did such a good job, you inspired me to build one myself. I'm out in N. Carolina near the Coast Guard base. Pretty cool to be able to walk out your back door, play mini golf, and/or fish at the same time.
Awesome! It’s a blast. Make sure to check out the part 2 video. It shows the course completed.
plz do lots of these vids I love them:)
This is really awesome
Thanks! Make sure to check out part 2 and part 3 will be out tomorrow!!!
Awesome Video! We are planning mini golf for our VRBO/Airbnb here in Ridgefield WA. We were wondering how you secured the hole and what you made the Plinko's? Also, how many sheets of OSB for the 10 holes? Thank you for making this video!
You can see more of the build and completed course on part 2 which is now posted on my channel. We used a couple scrap 2x4s to frame in the hole and then screw to it. Just drill small pilot holes and you will be good to go. We actually used the hole saw that we cut out holes with and cut a bunch of circles and stacked them up. We just screwed them to the board. I think we used about 11-13 sheets for the first 10 holes. In total it took about 28 or so to finish 18. We got bigger and better towards the end. Check out part 2.
Whoa! I am from Dodge City! I am trying to build something myself and its cool to see something like this in Dodge
🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼 heck ya! So much fun!
Nice work! You've inspired me to try a similar project. Are the walls/rails 1x2s?
Awesome! Check out part 2, I show that part in detail. czcams.com/video/bV-3jLFbKEQ/video.html
I keep asking questions bc this is an awesome vid and August of 2023 I plan on making 6 obstacles to take to my family reunion. I have the designs, dimensions etc all laid out minus one. Anyhow I'm going to add handles to mine so myself or whoever can pick it up and move it easier.
That will be awesome!
Might have to take this idea somehow and make a mini golf course that I can turn into a small business
I have loved mini-golf ever since a child and having my own course in the backyard would be a dream come true. I would make it a permanent part of the landscaping. I would also add a train I could ride around the perimeter or even through it. Oh to have unlimited space and money.
That sounds awesome!
you inspired me to make my own mini golf course
Go for it! It’s a lot of fun.
WHAT AN AWESOME IDEA ! LOVE IT. HAVE FUN YOU GUYS SURE DESERVE IT. SORRY FOR UPPWERCASE KEYBOARD JUNK!!! PS: YOU DID A BETTER
JOB AND THE LITTLE EXTRAS LOOKS GREAT!!! I SEEN REAL MINI PUTTS THAT DONT LOOK AS COULD AS THIS...HAVE FUN, GODBLESS 👍👍👍
Thanks so much! Make sure to check out part 2….it has the whole course!
very cool man.
Thanks man!
@@nocoastangling I agree, very cool.
Thanks for the video! Awesome mini golf course idea and your outlook was a also great part of the video as well.
Thanks 👊🏻💪🏼! Make sure to check out part 2….it’s got the whole course!
Hi Josh! I LOVE that course! Its well taught out! Looking to build my own and will steal some ideas from you :) How wide are the playing surfaces? 2 feet?
Awesome! Yes, they are approximately 2 feet wide. Make sure to watch part two and part three on my channel and each video will show you in depth a little bit more of what we did when building it out.
@@nocoastangling oh i've watched them all ;)
awesome video and info, how wide did you make them?
Most are around 40 inches wide. Thanks for watching! Make sure to check out part 2. It shows all the additional holes and more building tips. 👍🏻
What thickness is your wood? Did you use 15mm or 18mm? Thanks! Great video
Thanks! The plywood sheets were 19/32 in. They stock it regularly at Home Depot.
Hi great video and design build, Myself and a few volunteers are looking into building a mini golf course so visitors to our local fringe Festival can enjoy themselves. Do you have any plans, size, dimensions, Video is great but thought I will ask. Cheers Greg Bunbury Western Australia
Thanks so much for watching! I do not have any plans. We just made it up as we went. Make sure to watch part 2 though….it may answer more of your questions.
How much do you think it'd be to make if the lumber costs were regular and how long did it take?
Hard to say it’s different everywhere. 2 years ago I could have build it for less than $1500 probably. Probably 5 days to build with helpers.
Awesome!! How much area did you use thinking of doing a 9 hole course
I’m exactly sure, our back yard isn’t really that big. The cool part about it is you can just build it to fit whatever space you have.
SO cool! I want to do this in my big yard for my grandkids. Can you come over and help me? 😊
I know it’s two years later, but I just made a fully wooden golf club and I hope to do something cool like this
one thing im wondering, after having that for a while, do you recommend making some of the holes 4ft wide or keeping them 2-3ft wide? asking because i am undecided as to whether to make it wide enough so that people can stand on it, or if they should putt standing on the ground. your thoughts?
Great question! If financing wasn’t an issue and the space you have available to build it was big enough, I would make it bigger for sure. Although, most people still stand on the edge of the playing surface and we really haven’t had any complaints from anyone. The whole thing in its entirety pretty much blows people minds and so that makes up for the smaller scale. We went to Branson a few weeks ago and played like 10 rounds of mini golf at 6 different places and my youngest said we should have build out holes as big as some of those. It would have cost us $80k to build holes like that. 🤷🏻♂️ But if I could I would make them larger. Check out part 2 on my channel. It will show it completed.
@@nocoastangling just got 2 holes done thanks to ur input, i.imgur.com/o0qRsOd.jpg
how does it fair in rain? isn't it going to rot? Also what is holding it into place? is it just the weight?
Just the weight holds them in place. We are headed in to our 4th summer. Gonna have to replace plywood on 2 holes this year. We really thought it was only gonna last 1 summer so I’d say it’s held up pretty awesomely. Make sure to check out the part 2 video. It will show more.
What did you use for the green?
It’s just green outdoor carpet.
Awesome work! QQ what about the rain? Is that wood rain resistant?
Not really. We drilled a bunch of holes so water would not just stand on top of them and the glue that we used for the carpet kinda acts like a sealer as well. It is 3 years old at this point and we have only had to reinforce a couple spots that started to get soft.
@@nocoastanglingAbout how many holes did you drill in each sheet? I'm building my first hole now and trying to figure out how to space out the drainage holes before I put the green on top of the plywood.
@@letitgrow1846 🤷🏻♂️ every 20 inches or so I guess. We didn’t really pay that much attention. You probably couldn’t have too many I guess.
Can you share measurements and any other details you may have missed I. The video? I’m getting ready to build one
There are all kinds of nuggets in the comments but make sure to watch part 2 and part 3 that just came out on my channel last week. Lots of details there.
Is it waterproof? How osb react on weather conditions, snowing, rain etc?
We are coming out of our 3rd winter and we will need to replace the plywood on 2 holes. I'm really surprised that it took the long. We were really only building it for 1 summer but it has really held up well. I think the carpet glue and drilling drain holes really helped to prolong its life. make sure you check out the party 2 video.
What did you use for the 'Rough' ?
Long grass green carpet.
Where did you buy your carpet and how much did it cost ? I want to build 9 holes with my students, cheaper as possible. Thank you !
Home Depot. Just shop around and get the best price. Any home improvement store will carry it. Building materials were at an all time high when we built this so the prices should be a lot different now.
Are these for sale?? Before you put in your yard next year?
I’m not sure what we will do with them. 🤷🏻♂️
did you use cheap plywood or more expensive kind sir?
We just used the cheaper stuff.
how many sqft of carpet did you buy to complete that?
Somewhere around 1000 I believe
Please share parts lists, for each hole
Ya I wouldn’t be able to do that. Every whole is custom built and we did it on the fly. No plans or anything like that.
What carpet did you use?
Artificial grass carpet from Home Depot
How is the wood holding up?
Great! Virtually no break down whatsoever.
I can't believe more people haven't liked this video. HEY!!!! SMASH that like button!
Is it lightweight enough to be portable?
No way.
What did you use for the Plinko Knobs?
We cut circles out of plywood and doubled them up and then screwed them down to the plywood floor.
@@nocoastangling Thanks a million. Awesome designs btw
@@jax9769 right on! Make sure you watch part 2.
How long is the typical hole?
8-12 feet
Any chance you live near South Carolina and willing to make a few for a wedding October 2023 😅
No ma’am. From dodge city Ks but y’all can do it. It’s easier than you think!
@@nocoastangling aw dang.. wanting to surprise my fiancé, I don’t think I’ll be able to do it myself or be able to hide the project from him haha
What’s the first song name?
I thought you were famous when I clicked on the vid, you need to be famous
Hahah thanks bro! 👊🏻💪🏼
How wide are your courses?
Most of them are between 32-48 inches wide.
Have you took it up yet ? Would like to know if I could buy that course from you ?
We have not removed it? Everything is always for sale. Where are you from?
@@nocoastangling Pulaski tn. When your ready let me know the price and location I’ll come pick it up 🔥🔥
@@anjelicamiles7682 I’ve got $8k in it. Make an offer.
Have you ever made a loop d loop for miniputt course? Can you direct me to proper instructions?
Yes we have a loop d loop on our course. We used metal flashing that you can buy in a roll to form the loop and then thick hose on the edges to contain the ball as it goes around. We used 1x2’s to build a frame to hold it upright from the top. It was kinda cumbersome for sure. It was probably the signal item that took the most time and engineering to get it right but trial and error goes along way.
I’m pretty sure we show it in the part 2 video.
probably should have sealed and painted that plywood
Build to get through 1 summer….still going strong 3 years later. 🤷🏻♂️
I am working to update our mini golf at a camp in Wisconsin. Are you looking to donate your mini golf stuff?
Not at this time, our course is still going strong!
What size are you platforms
They vary from hole to hole but we tried to maximize each sheet of plywood so there was no waste. Most of them are 2 foot wide I guess.
what was the total cost
We built it when lumber was basically at its highest point this year so it cost somewhere around $7k
bro that is fukcing sweet, gonna do this in mine
👊🏻💪🏼
Can I swing by and play a round?
COST???
I think I talk about that more in part 2 but it was somewhere around $7k due to these crazy lumber costs.
After a year can you do a follow up video as to how it turned out. Anything you might do different. Thanks
It’s actually held up very well. We’ve been thru 2 summers now and all we’ve had to do is tighten a few screws.
Planning to do an update video though later in the spring. Thanks for watching. Make sure you watch part 2, it shows the whole course.
