How to attach a hozelock pipe to the reel stand

This isn't correct. When attaching the hose to the reel it only needs to go through one of the retainers, not both. By doing both you are bending it back on itself and it won't have full flow. The picture on the center of the real explains that.
There are 2 retainers so you can pick which side the handle is on / direction hose spools out from.
