So before wrap intake temps were 133-135. After wrap temps at 105-106?
It's little things like this that keeps me watching. Thanks for the info!
Well thanks for the support. 👌🏻💪🏻
Best video on CZcams for showing gold heat tape benefits! Subbed
That is a clean engine bay- Looks really good!
awesome video! I was avoiding looking into this too much because I was worried it wouldnt actually help my high intake temps, but I'm really excited to install it on my intercooler piping and make my car happier!
High quality content, thanks for experiment
That is a significant difference wow. Thankyou for making this.
No no, thankyou
@@forgottenknowledge8917no actually, thank you.
Great test, thanks!
This is gonna go on my intercooler piping now.
Highly recommend it!
Just fyi. Dont use this on the cold side intercooler piping. If anything use it on the hot side. The outlet temps of the intercooler piping on the cold side need to have the length of pipe to cool off from intercooler exit to throttle body inlet. If you put this over your cold side it will keep the heat in. Reguardless of its reflective properties it will increase your inlet temps if you wrap the cold side.
Let that side "breathe" so to speak.
Wrapping the hot side will be beneficial because its closer to heat from the manifold and turbo.
I’d definitely be interested in seeing that other motor and super charger in a small truck I think that would be awesome ! Also glad to hear you were able to find a rebuild kit for that as well. Keep up the great videos man 👍 I’m always looking forward to them !
Nice video bro! I’m wrapping the intake on my big turbo ST tomorrow, excited to see the results.
Good job James ❤️
Thanks man appreciate you
Honestly i did this just for esthetics. Looks really good when done properly.

Thank you for this test. I am thinking of using this on the Rotofab on my Camaro SS 1LE.
Excellent! I have a similar CAI on my Accord. It's noticeably weaker in this Texas heat. It was great to see it dropped the intake temp by about 30 degrees. I'm going to do something similar to mine because of this. Thanks!
Yea for sure and it gets hott here in texas for sure so it is nice to see them temps going down indeed!
That's awesome brother!
Thanks and I loved doing this video because it shows that it actually works!!
Getting mine this week
Just ordered my wrap for my K&N Typhoon. Good looking out bro
Awesomeness 👏🏻💪🏻
Awesome data collected from a reflective tape wrap! This vid should help my Rx8 reduce temps. Excited to see your Ranger/KA/Mazda build. I had no idea that you can mate a KA with an Rx8 trans? Hopefully in the near future I would like to transform my Rx8 to an RXK !
K20 Honda Engine Not the KA from Nissan But yea good stuff for sure and they make entire kits for the RX8 so even better! lol.
Love the content bro. Keep doing your thing. Also can you put a link in your description for the eaton rebuild kit if possible!!. Thanks in advance
Thanks 🙏🏻 and I’ll try to get around to dropping that link when I’m by my computer again. Harder to do it on the phone lol
awesome. that's a pretty significant temp difference
Indeed!! The tests were done 30 mins apart so the temp outside was still in the same range. The conditions were the same. I Couldn’t ask for more!
Good to know. Just put a turbo on my 2007 Honda Civic and the IAT get hot with spools.
Yea heat is killer and can ruin a engine if not taken care of so all mods pertaining to heat reduction are VERY IMPORTANT
The polished intake pipe already reflexes some heat. You'll see a big benefit from the oem intake if you wrap it with the gold tape. Still cool looking, though
This thing sounds so good N/A
Check my page listen to mine after jpipes and custom exhaust
Thanks for video! Thats crazy! How much hp u think you gain? Rule of thumb -10 temp means about 1.2% increase as i remember :p so about 3.6% looks rly great if this mathematicalnis correct ;)
I could see this being used mostly for the no hood kinda guys with a black intake pipe in direct sunlight making a difference tho. Never tried just a guess
you should compare this to a fully polished intake it should be better
Keep those vids coming ma brother. good information. i like how you break things down. I got a few questions maybe you can help/ 1) what will happen if a person pushes exhaust gas straight into an intercooler then into the intake without using a turbo. 2) why can't the hondata program work for the 2002 honda accord?
That wouldn’t work since the exhaust gases aren’t carrying in oxygen molecules and the air to air wouldn’t cool exhaust gases down enough even if it did have enough oxygen or I burnt fuel to recirculate. Never heard that one before. Hondata can work if you ecu swap and rewire it too. I didn’t design Hondata though so I’m not really sure beyond that.
Now Ima need this in silver/chrome lol that gold aint sitting right with me
very nice
I have 3.7 SH-awd intake manifold and throttle body with 4" intake on my 3.2 base. I wrapped both the manifold and intake in the gold and of course the IAT is relocated to the intake. IAT Temps Stay close to outside Temps, especially in fall a winter
Yea that will do it for sure. The intake sensor i prefer on the intake manifold that’s why I drilled and tapped mine to be on the manifold. It gives me more of a look at what’s going on inside the manifold temps vs air coming into the throttle temp.
@@TexasHondaChannel the old manifold Def got hot especially without the p2r gasket
Whose going to tape their stock plastic intake hose and filter box and do before and after tests? 😂
The real heroes
I’m looking to do this exact thing on my turbo Audi. Will test Texas summer temps.
@@Mattryanfishertexas heat would be a great test. Please let us know the results.
Are you running spacers or thermal gasket on manifold or throttle body ? Great information ty.
for sure a throttle body spacer but you need a gasket on the throttle body so both?
I don’t run coolant lines to my throttle body so i don’t have a intake throttle spacer. I do have thermal gaskets on the lower intake spacer though
Supercharged j32 danger ranger! Hell yeah!!!!
I have goals man!
@@TexasHondaChannel man if I hadn't scrapped my ranger id have donated it. But after vandals busted out every window , it wasn't worth the cost to replace them.
@@TexasHondaChannel man if you could find one in the junkyard for cheap, a j32 swapped fox body mustang would really piss people.off😆😅🤣😈
@@sinformant haha 😂 man if you see any cheap rangers with title let me know!!
@@TexasHondaChannel will do! My ranger would have been a perfect candidate too! It was as base model as they come, literally rubber floor mats, manual transmission, no power steering, no power anything, no ac. Even had a filler plate where a stereo would go when I got it and no wiring for speakers or speakers in the doors. It was super light, just a steering wheel, shifter, gauges, heater and a vinyl bench seat. People never understood why the thing would scream with just a small 4cyl, but it was as light as a stripped down honda civic lol
I did the same on my intake for my CL i wonder if the thermal gaskets for the manifold and TB do anything
If you have coolant hoses hooked to your throttle body then yes. I don’t run my coolant hoses on there
Ive noticed this tape on my recent brought h22 motor i thought it was to make tha motor look fancy nancy ,but to know its actually a functional piece of tape 🤔 hope its another clue to a built motor besides noticing skunk2 cam gears..Proud 3rd gen Prelude owner 😎..
Nice!! Yea if it’s gold or silver it has a function most likely!
Mishimoto coolant reservoir was a nice mod on my 05 6MT TL you should look it bro 👌 helps reduce temp in a coated bottle and looks better relocating away from front exhaust cat 👍
Yea I’m sure that would help. My temps are great right now. Coolant temp is around 185 some times lower it’s a great range for a J series but either way it wouldn’t hurt to reduce heat even more.
I want to check it out, do you have a link to it?
@@STAZDA my bad for the lag
www.mishimoto.com/aluminum-coolant-reservoir-tank.html
Is that. J32 manifold ?
Purple Power rocks!
Indeed
I think a j-series in an S10 or ranger would be pretty cool. If you are really looking to save weight though look for a Mazda B-series pickup. They are pretty much a ranger that weighs less. Mazda lightened them quite a bit. You can see with both trucks on a lift Mazda didn't brace up the body or bed anywhere near as much as Ford. With a truck though all the strength is in the frame so it just ends up lighter.
I would take either at this point I’m not too picky but I prefer the Mazda. I will be using it as a work truck until the J swap stuff is figured out. Haha
Do you have a link or a part number for that intake? I have an 80mm and and adaptor waiting to go on I just want an intake thats able to feed it
I do not... You should look up a cold air intake for a Acura TL type S that’s what this intake pipe is for.
What’s your workout routine
I workout when I get free time and lift heavy and eat calories. Protein shakes when I wake up and after workout. I’ll go over it some time for sure
Is that hondata flash pro a standalone ecu or a piggyback ecu type?
I’ve got a integra type r stock ecu planning to get one just like yours and was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions?
go with a hondata p600 or s300 depending on what you're planning. if you're planning to boost it i'd just save up for a fueltech. i love hondata but when i boosted my gsr swapped had hondata for 2 weeks and switched to fueltech. now i use fueltech for everything. if i could fueltech my lawn mower i probably would.
i have a whole roll leftover of the fiber heatwrap, should work same?
No this material is reflective, it keeps the heat away from the tape. Fiberglass tape insulates doing the opposite
watched someone tested that on hellcat it worked too
We could theorize from this that reflective tape keeps heat from the cool air in the piping while insulating wrap insulates the cooler air inside the pipe, keeping it cool. Sounds like both inhibit temperature transfer, a case of six in one hand, a half-dozen in the other.
S\O bulldog shi 5 auto
Would you or have you put this on coolant hoses?
😂
Those bearings on the supercharger should have a slight play....totally normal but any leaks definitely needs attention😏hey u can try a heat shield under the throttle body too works wonders with keeping the temps down from the tranny etc.🥶
That’s a good idea too. I got the temps to the lowest I ever seen yet at 97 degrees last night that’s crazy to me because it was 80 something out. Either way i will get the supercharger sorted out for sure.
@@TexasHondaChannel 97*🥶not bad at all👌

@@PhillyDee215 I’m working on a homemade 4” Icebox!
Could you spray paint (black) the tape after installed?
You can but the main thing that deflects the heat is the color. It don’t absorb infrared like other colors do. Silver and gold are the best at deflecting heat. Engineering Explained does a great segment on this on how the science works.
@@TexasHondaChannel do you know which color is better between gold and silver
Dude you're getting swole. Keep it up
Thanks man! A lot of heavy lifting and eating some calories helps! I don’t fuck with steroids like some jackasses assumed already. I took that as a compliment though because that means I’m getting bigger haha lol 😂
what about the silver wrap dose it reflect better or worst or same
should be about the same, the best you can do though is polish your aluminum intake
DEI confirms their gold tape reflects about 70% better than silver
Too bad I don't have a full cia system or id use that stuff.
I wish they had other colors besides gold to go with the color theme I'm going with.
Bc its the most reflective and affective
@@suhhdudee5153 Yeah I understand the science behind it. Doesn't change that I wish that there was a way to have different color options. 🤷♂
@@CPurdiePlays i do agree about that
Before and after numbers?
I can’t go to the Dyno after every single mod but I have a lot of other videos showing numbers of other items before and after. I did put the info i had in the video.
Before wrap @ 5:51 was 133 degF, after wrap @ 6:58 was 104 degF . Quite significant
What’s the highest temp this tape can hold?? Can you wrap down pipes or cats????
No this is strictly a reflective tape it will do nothing to put onto exhaust parts. That’s what heat wrap is for.
Use the 2009 Ford Escape as the Guinea pig for the Supercharger. The Duratech engines can handle.
I don’t have a Ford Escape and don’t have plans to ever own one. I was thinking a small truck because I need a work truck. It don’t even have to be a Ford and the engine from my TL with the supercharger installed will be swapped in some day. That’s my goal at least.
lets start a gofund me page to get a ford escape. i always wanted to do that mod but have no idea where to start.lol

Haha I do a lot of things for free I shouldn’t lol 😂
Hey how long did this stuff last?? Seeing a lot of reviews claiming it wears off after a week or so. Thanks for the content keep it up
it will fall off eventually but it helps if you us spray-on adhesive as well
It doesnt fall if you clean all the surfaces with alcohol or cetone. 1 year with all the intake covered with heattape in my nissan bluebird turbo and 0 problems. You can feel the car responsive at all range of temperatures and driving conditions, where the car was slower in summer time now works perfect. But it has to be accompained with a K&N filter to make the air pass quicker than the stock filter to prevent the air get hot.
How about inside of intake
the purpose of this "gold" foil is to reflect up to 80-85% of the radiated heat inside the bonnet, so, it is not adequate to internal but external, if you see real racing applications, they put it on all those parts were is necessary to keep it cooler, like the intake manifolds/airbox, the parts near exhaust headers subject to problems if too much heat (coils, wirings, liquids etc).
Consider this is against "radiated" heat, but components will continue to heat if in contact with hot components, for example, the intake manifold, usually it is in contact with the engine head, so receives heat by "conduction" you can reduce a little this conducted heat putting a gasket/spacer between Head and intake manifold with better isolation as how is used in racing applications, and maybe, wrap the manifold with this gold foil in all those areas where hot radiations hits the manifold.
Interesting, does it come in silver...?
It does. But dont waste your time. It doesn't work.
@@Hello_its_me_mario so only the gold works?
If you run header wrap be mindful of the material the headers are made from if they are just cheap mild steel headers header wrap can melt the steel. Keeps the engine bay temperature way down but holds all the heat into the material.
Yes good point I failed to mention. Cast Iron definitely holds heat really bad I remember my turbo manifolds that were cast. On stock it’s not always the best idea but I have done it with decent results. Then again I didn’t have the stock manifolds on very long so no idea on long term usage.
@@TexasHondaChannel wrapping your manifolds or headers is power to be gained in 2 ways too. It promotes exhaust evacuation from the engine and keeps the under hood temps down. I never understood why Honda chose to put the exhaust manifold up next to the radiator on the older 4 cylinders. I always thought that is a horrible spot to put all the heat. Airflow at the firewall isn't great either so it makes it much harder to keep the intake manifold as cool as possible. They did reverse flow on the cylinder head though in the K-series engines which helped quite a bit for N/A builds.
They sell this at autozone right?
They do, but not the gold color. It may vary depending on store but Amazon sells it aswell
did i miss the befor temp
Check at 5:44
Will aluminum tape also work?
I am wondering exactly the same!
I’m sure it would reflect but not as good
I would like to know to?
Gold reflects ir radiation better, aluminum is not so good, you can try Google, material that reflects IR radiation.
aluminum tape? I used Aluminum diamond plate and the air filter was still 135degrees. Its not completely sealed, but still.
Would header wrap work?
header wrap keeps heat in. this reflects it
@@OhioBahn440 yeah but why would heat be in the intake wouldn’t it be cold and how would escape from the intake anyways
@@diana2863 its in the engine bay. the engine radiates heat. the gold reflects the radiant heat. keeps the air cooler.
just get heat wrap for the intake, header wrap for the headers. don’t make it more difficult for yourself.
@@diana2863 the tape reflects heat from inside the engie bay
Where is the car battery?
most likely in the trunk
Will silver tape work?
Gold tape works better at reflecting heat than silver tape or sheets.
@@eagleeyez1280facts
figures that a guy that rhino coated his whole car did not realize that if anything your paint is keeping your engine bay hotter than a toaster. apparently you don't understand why rhino coating is great to keep moisture out. you just increased the amount of heat that your hood is going to absorb cuz of that rhino lining.
