Presented in a found footage style, David Dastmalchian stars as Jack Delroy, the host of a fictional 1970s variety and late-night talk show titled Night Owls with Jack Delroy. The film purports to be derived from a rediscovered master tape of an episode from the show's sixth season, broadcast on Halloween 1977. During this live television broadcast, havoc unfolds when Delroy interviews a parapsychologist (Laura Gordon) and the subject of her recent book, a young teenager (Ingrid Torelli) who was the sole survivor.

Hollywood's always had a love/hate thing with the Horror genre. It loves how profitable horror is, but it hates the genre for what it perceives is it's entertainment for the lower class plebs. Just look at films like Arachnophobia or Silence of the Lambs. Both got heavy coverage as horror films before release, but ended up getting marketed as a thrill-omedy or thriller upon release.
Yeah thats true, it has been the back bone for sure when it comes to the money
Hollywood almost exclusively makes "entertainment for lower class plebs". It is its bread and butter. If anything, the occasional horror film like "Hereditary" or "The Witch" are the rare exception to the constant stream of superhero trash and endless remakes.

This film seems like something Alfred Hitchcock would make if he were still alive today.
It does have those vibes for sure
I've been a fan of David Dastmalchian since i saw an interview he did years ago on 'Fatman on Batman.' like you said it's been so great seeing him go from these little roles like in Ant-Man to now being in the main role. i am genuinely so excited for him.
I agree I love seeing David get these leading roles and hope more come
The Exorcist (1973) was nominated for ten Academy Awards (including Best Picture) and won two.
Yeah it has been a bit though
No horror film will make an impact as the exorcist did
im so glad Australian horror is getting more traction. Being an Australian i naturally grew up with so many classics, Dark Age, Razorback, wolf creek, rogue, The snowtown murders, The tunnel, boar, charlies farm, the loved ones. So many and you havnt heard of any of these. Go look em up
você já assistiu "A Noite dos Gatos " com Anelize e Sergio Luiz?
Aussie horror has some wonderful variety. Everything from grim serious to goopy bizzare, it's there.
@@MSinistrari with the rise of screen australia there is only more to come
Talk to Me was FANTASTIC. I loved that film. Had no clue it was Australian until I was in the theater and they started talking.
@@pavmx703 i live where they shot it so my first viewing of talk to me was a game of "i know what spot" xD
This movie also recently popped up on my radar and I can't wait to watch it. Hopefully it comes out in theaters in my country.
Yeah I hope it gets a wide enough release
David is so cool in this clips he's got to perfection
I agree love seeing David
Been waiting for your video on this
thank you!
Sounds like this is the contender for a double-feature with the "Inside No. 9" 1970s themed episode "The Devil of Christmas".
I've been trying to think of the name of that show forever, thank you!
Check out Dastmalchian in The Belko Experiment. Kinda brief but the guy can straight up act
Oh definitely will!
This movie is on a very limited release. I’m in Los Angeles and I’m going to go see it 10 miles. I’m really hyped for this. Haven’t felt like this for a film in a long time!!
Yeah i've been seeing its very limited but worth checking out
Had to travel to watch our local theatre couldn’t get it
Got to see it in the UK today! 🎉
Hope you enjoyed!
shout out to my favorite of davids roles, the creepy morgue guy in the league.
he's just had some great roles lately too
We weren't big fans of the ending but the movie was still very enjoyable & worth a watch.
I'm really looking forward to seeing this film.
truly a great horror
so who was the Skelton dude in the audience?
"He's here".
heard a theory where they say his the devil himself viewing the show as they show him quite alot, he sits next to a guy in a devil costume and has no real reactions simply observing Jack and the show his about to put on
@lindsay-oneillcampher3498 it's actually Abraxas.
Every thing about this film is best iv seen for very long time it's on another level Australian have good edge to films but this very American mix with Australian superb
its truly next level for me
I haven't been this excited about a movie in a long time.
It exceeded my expectations
David hads such a great face. Distinctive
They are very recognizable
Where are you people watching this stuff. It's nowhere to be found, yet somehow you've all seen it.
People that do horror reviews sometimes get screeners sent to them early so they can review the film.
Early screenings at film festivals.
I saw it some days ago at the IFC center in NYC. Good movie, not scary but entertaining
Good review. I'm glad I didn't read it before watching the movie just because I went to see it thinking it was a documentary. Might sound stupid but since it cites real events and real people and the footage is so convincing. It was showing at 10:45 so basically we were seeing it at midnight on a rainy night. Of course by the time it got too weird I knew it couldn't be The feeling of seeing it as if it was a documentary makes it even better and the fact that it is so well made to the feel of the times made so believable. Of course by the time it is too weird you think it is made up but still works as a great story especially if you think he hallucinated the ending events and in his delusion committed the murders.
This movie was fuckin sick, just what the horror genre needed.
SXSW being sponsored by military institutions. 😮😮😮😮
So is everything
Guess modern-day Americans aren't familiar with President Eisenhower's farewell address. 3 words, children...
MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX.
You resemble David Dastmalchian
Twin peaks
it has those vibes for sure
I’m convinced that during the trance scene where reality is blurred and certain members of the studio audience saw one thing while others saw another, I must have seen a different film than everyone else…
I gave this movie a 6/10 and thought it was above average but all these reviews calling it masterful, I just don’t get.
The exposition at the start of the film should have been tighter, the “behind the scenes” black and white footage that was too clean to be 70s camera work and repeatedly took me out of the immersion of live broadcast sequences that felt more authentic of the time.
Personally, I felt the film did not instill any fear, lacked any dark humor that made me laugh, didn’t fill me with any real dread or edge of your seat anxiety nor did it make me reflect or think deeply about any important social issues.
It held my attention for it’s runtime , I thought the actors did a fine job, especially, David Dastmalchian, I liked the aesthetic of the movie, the set design and costumes were on point but it failed to leave any lasting impression on me.
I definitely agree with the behind the scenes look. It appeared way too clean to be the 70s and kind of confused me
Bravo, David Dastmalchian. I remember him from some Wendy's commercials.
I didnt know that will be going on a deep dive for those haha
Strap yourself in and get ready for a thrill ride ,movie of the year so far 👍
Neat how did you see it already?
I'd say maybe at sxsw
release date?
It should be releasing March 22nd and streaming later on
Am I wrong for saying that the girl was super hot...when possessed.
9:15 Did you just call it LAST Night With The Devil??
Could "Lilly" really be Goddess Lilith????
Nice catch
