    Great Job showing how it wrks to us! Could you please tell me how does saving to hard drive works? is there a 'export to' option in the software? Or is it a workaround? Sorry am thinking of getting and havent figured the whole process of saving to hard drives. Could you please throw some light on this? Thanks and cheers!

    • @VirgilBunao
      @VirgilBunao  Před 6 lety +1

      Thank you for watching. There’s no export feature. The software saves the scanned images as jpg files on the external hard drive. Each roll creates a folder once you mash sort order. Hope that helps. I will be making another video on how I post process my film images so stay tuned.

      No tiffs? :( This scanner is a bit of mystique. It will really help the whole world if you could take us through the basics and faq's when you have the time. Stuff like- how to make it work as a stand alone unit, steps to get the best out of it and most importantly what about this scanner makes you go through all the trouble :) Thanks for your effort! subscribed!

      @bebox7 Před 6 lety +4

      The SP3000 definitely does TIF export and there's no need to have the external drive ejecting at the end either...you can easily setup a shared network folder that a mac or PC can read from to avoid that. There's a few odd things in this video that I wouldn't recommend doing but good to see something online about the SP3000.

      @@bebox7 Could you explain what you wouldn't recommend? I am curious, since I am thinking about buying this.

    • @bebox7
      @bebox7 Před 5 lety +2

      @@JacobChristiansen1 None of them are a huge deal just that there is so much more to the scanner than what is explained here. There's a whole admin section where you set up your Hypertone settings and all the adjustment settings, which can vastly change the quality of your scans. Plus as I mentioned before there's no need for that external drive being unplugged - you can very easily network the computer or run a VM on a mac and have the saved images go directly to Lightroom or whatever you use for PP. The CMY settings need a whole lot more explaining too for beginners. The image settings are not Pink or Turquoise - the colour settings are Cyan/Red, Magenta/Green and Yellow/Blue as in CMYK - the standard for printing. It's very important to know their relationship so you get the best colour of your scans before going to PP eg what changes you need to pull out a certain colour cast. Also all of those settings can be tweaked in the admin section as to how much each setting changes when you click the buttons.

    It's Cyan not Turquoise :D Also going to take a guess that it's not your camera but your negatives are not oriented correctly in your carrier that's why it's upside down. Are you putting it in emulsion side down?

      Thank you. Cyan. Right. . It is upside down because of the way i hold my camera. Thank you for taking the time to comment.

    • @Caracalaba
      @Caracalaba Před 4 lety +3

      I have the same problem. the lab has one of these fujifilm scanners (not sure which model) and they come noticeable cropped. They told me that's how the scan is. I can't understand why such professional machine can't scan the full negative or at least give you the option of scanning it larger and then crop the borders in the computer. any solutions?

    • @MarcS4R
      @MarcS4R Před 3 lety

      @@Caracalaba Yes you can scan full coverage, even with the borders, but you need a full frame mask for this, not every lab has that, and it is a bit more work as well.

      @@jameslane3846 I have NLP and I send my negatives to be scanned on Frontier. I call this BS. I have done tests with a rolls scanned form Frontier and then trying to replicate it with NLP. If I have Frontier scans as reference, I can get very close(with a lot of slider changes), but If I try to do it without looking at Frontier scans, it's miles away. Not to mention that it varies for every shot.
      It's impossible to get the consistent look from Frontier with NLP. Not to mention that most of the NLP shots have that digital 'colors' that I hate(the whole reason of shooting film).
      Just open Carmencita photo lab Instagram images, then compare it to the NLP images in the Negative Lab Pro Facebook group.

      Yo! totally agree, I also did a test to compare real Frontier scans with NLP and it’s close but no cigar :) if you don’t have the original Frontier scan, there’s no way to envision those peachy color renditions from your own brain (with help from NLP). That being said, I do love NLP, it’s a great app.
