ABOUT ME: Hallo, Servus, and welcome to my channel! My name is Felicia (Feli), I'm 26, and I'm a German living in the USA! I was born and raised in Munich, Germany but have been living in Cincinnati, Ohio off and on since 2016. I first came here for an exchange semester during my undergrad at LMU Munich, then I returned for an internship, and then I got my master's degree in Cincinnati. I was lucky enough to win the Green Card lottery and have been a permanent resident since 2019! In my videos, I talk about cultural differences between America and Germany, things I like and dislike about living here, and other experiences that I have made during my time in the States. Let me know what YOU would like to hear about in the comments below. DANKE :)

My brain the night before the test: *studying*
My brain during the test: “Hallo, Servus, and welcome back to my CZcams channel. My name is Felicia. I’m originally from Munich, German but have been living in Cincinnati, Ohio off and on since 2016.”
Sry but i am laughing so hard at this moment :D
Haha well I hope it was at least a German test
German Girl in America I wish. Unfortunately high school only teaches Spanish and French, but I’m learning Dutch and some German outside.
German = Germany but 10/10 for the rest! :-)
@@brodypenn Veel succes met het leren van Nederlands! Het is geen gemakkelijke taal. Zeker niet qua uitspraak voor Engelstaligen.
“You don’t have to like this video”? Girl, if I could give you give you three likes for this video, I would. Get better soon. Love from India 🌸
Get well soon! Broken wrist is super annoying especially on your dominant side, but you seem to manage really well! Looking forward to hearing about more of your hidden talents 🤣
I think you're right: adversity does make you appreciate the little blessings in life which we take for granted. It opens our hearts to consider others' hardships that are so easily dismissed
That is so true.
You only miss something when you don't have it anymore
I was in a wheelchair for a few months after a motorcycle accident... Very humbling. I still think of it often, how amazing it is just to be able to get into buildings, walk the dog, etc., etc.,...
@@jpoeng this is so true and it is the best quality of human to be aware of each other's suffering and pain
@@letterbox203 Unfortunately the growth of wisdom and painful experiences often go hand in hand, as long as we do the work/learn the lessons.
Good Luck with everything. Take care.
Feli: Sorry about your wrist! Hope all goes well with the surgery. I’ll give you the advice my daughter who’s an Orthopedic Physician Assistant would give: religiously follow your rehabilitation and/or physical therapy regiment after the surgery. You’ll be happy you did in the long run. And I’m very optimistic you’ll be making videos again sooner than you initially thought! Take care!!
*regimen
Sorry, my inner editor is sometimes too hard to shut up. ;-)
O " no, Fedi, please get better. Like they say you never know. When we get hurt it's when we appreciate our both arms, and being in one peace. Please take care of yourself..! As long as you have good doctors, yes, and good insurance. The U.S. hospital system Is crazy high.
Ow, dang it! I wish you a complete, speedy recovery.
I hope u feel better, and I hope ur staying safe (even more safe now)
Oh noo gute Besserung felicia. Schaue deine videos mega gerne, da ich auch vor habe in die usa zu ziehen. Ich hoffe es geht dir bald besser🙈😊🥰
Bless your heart! Sending prayers for a complete recovery.
Sending more well wishes and hoping for your speedy recovery!
I hope you recover. And shay safe.
This is such a heartfelt message from you Your injury reminds me of my torn Achilles tendon injury when I was a graduate student back in the day. After my surgery, it took me a year to fully recover. I suspected that it was on roller blades or skates that caused your injury. Fortunately, you're going to start your OT quickly after your. Just remember that each day brings you closer to full recovery. Get your rest and be patient with yourself. Be safe, stay safe!
Hope surgery went well and admire your positive “vibes” on this episode in your life. I greatly enjoy your videos! Take Care and have a rapid recovery. Gemutlichkeit !
I’m happy you’re alright. Take the time to get better. We all love you and your content!
Ive never been this early lol but also get well soon and take care of yourself!!
Haha me too🙈
Hope you get better!
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
So sorry to hear about the broken wrist but you are handling it well. Stay positive, and I'm sending you lots of healing vibes and wishes for a speedy recovery!
YOU LOOK GREAT…!!!
Just a word of advice from an old man who played American football, wrestling, martial arts, and crashed my motorcycle and had my share of fighting as a young New Yorker… my advice is always work on strength and motion for that wrist… ( to mitigate arthritis later in life)… also don’t be afraid of skating again or any other fun activity….
I became “religious” later on in life… I survived 5 heart attacks and an emergency triple bypass…. (I never smoked cigarettes) I see life so differently now…. YOU’ll be fine….I see you are grateful for the little things…they are called “blessings”
YOU GOT THIS
You’re a trooper, Felicia! Keep us updated on your recovery
Amen to that my Friend
Glad to see you are making the best of this! Get well real soon! I will be thinking about you and praying for your speedy recovery!
I hope you have a quick recovery!
GET WELL SOON!
oh no, same happened to me 2 years ago with my right wrist and I am right-handed too. I wasn't able to do much for 6 weeks and when I did do something, it took me forever. Even buying groceries was a real challenge. :-D Get well soon! Jenny P.S. If you ever want to cooperate with us, let me know, we'd be thrilled. :-)
Yes, everything takes me forever! Lets be in touch :)
a tip : watch movies at Flixzone. Been using them for watching all kinds of movies these days.
@Kaiser Castiel yea, I've been watching on flixzone for months myself =)
Is it back to normal or do you still experience pain?
@@allbeen I also ask same question friend
Sorry to hear about your injury, I hope you heal up good, I will keep you in prayers!
Wish you a speedy recovery!
Two suggestions. Use this time to learn how to use a mouse left handed, then when you get well switch off right to left handed throughout the day so your hand/wrist doesn’t get tired. I do CAD work and this is very helpful. Also get two different sized “mice”. Maybe, using a small travel size mouse will be helpful in you learning to use your left hand. Remap the buttons left to right so you are using your left index finger.
Second use your computer’s speech to text functions. The Mac does this well.
Thanks for the tips!
Using the house left handed is fairly easy for me. I've done it when I've had repetitive stress injury problems. Never tried writing left handed, that seems much more difficult. But I hardly ever have to write these days, so no biggie. It's other things that would be nearly impossible to do left handed, like bathroom habits. I won't get into those, but even shaving seems like it would be rather difficult left handed.
@@jimmym3352 good for you, I am left handed and using the mouse with the right hand and it is very difficult for me to use the mouse with the left hand, even if I do everything else with my left hand.
@@FelifromGermany Broken wrists are the most common injury when skating because when you fall backwards, your natural inclination is to try and catch yourself with your hands. You can change the settings in your computer to make your mouse left handed (reverses the buttons so you can use the same fingers on your left hand for click and alt click.)
GGiA: Every cloud has a silver lining. This is a wonderful opportunity to improve your ability to do fine work with your left hand. I had a hand injury last year, and started to use the mouse with my left hand. It’s very hard at first, and you will feel like a 3 year old, but keep at it. After a few weeks you will be as good with your left hand as you used to be with your right. And that will help a lot in the future for some things like playing a musical instrument etc. It’s great opportunity to become at least partly ambidextrous!
What a trooper! You have such a great positive outlook. I love it. You will heal quickly and be right back in the groove. I like your German ingenuity in coming up with clever ways to do things with one hand. Perhaps you can use the time to brainstorm about future topics and ideas for your channel and record it instead of writing a list. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Sorry to hear about your wrist. Hope you heal completely and successfully. Great to hear that you are so positive about your experience. Love your videos and see you again soon.🙂
I broke my wrist when I was 15 and had to wear a cast for 3 weeks.I learned to use my left hand almost as well as my right.
I broke my radius and ulna on my dominant hand about 16 months ago. I was doing things again but with tolerable pain around 16 weeks after i broke it. It still aches sometimes. It takes a long time to fully recover. I asked my surgeon on a scale of 1 to 10 how bad and he said it was a 9 because my radius was in like 4 pieces. Had a few short arm casts and k wires through my skin as part of the experience. Hang in there girlie.
Hope you heal fast and rehab even faster. We'll all be waiting right here for your 100% return.
Best wishes, and hope all goes well for you. Have a speedy recovery.
I figured you had a few too many drinks and fell off that 'Queen City" sign down there in Cincinnati.
😂😂😂
Gute Besserung..wenn die Schrauben in Deinen Gelenk sitzen, kannst Du mit gutem Gewissen sagen i'm screwed😂
Ich freu mich auf dein nächstes Video!
Get well soon Feli! I’m glad you’re doing better, best of luck with your surgery !
Gute Besserung und alles Gute!
I broke my right wrist in the same fashion about 9 years ago. I tripped over something in my shed while stepping backwards and put my hand out to catch myself and SNAP, there it went.
I broke my left wrist back in 2004, and I'm left-handed. Showering was the biggest pain, though, as you can't get the cast wet. I had to wrap/duct tape it in a plastic bag every single time... one-handed.
Ugh.
---
How'd I break it?
Slipping on a patch of ice while walking up a hill to go to work at Osan Air Base, South Korea. In the middle of a combat exercise and wearing full MOPP gear, flak vest, and helmet. Needless to say, throwing your hands out to break the fall with an additional 30-odd pounds of weight equals broken wrist.
Hi Felicia Thank you for the update. Good luck with the surgery and physical therapy. Take care of yourself and get well soon
Hope you have a speedy and pain free recovery.
You tube is secondary. your health is primary. Heal and heal well.
hint: There are motorized can openers that are easy to operate.
Exactly. I got one for like $8 at CVS that works nicely!!
I'm glad you seem to be rebounding so well. Stay healthy!
Dear Feli, Glad to know you are ok! Hope the surgery went well last week! Wishing you all good things and all the best. Take all the time you need to get better that is the most important thing! We can wait!
Buy a mini mouse either USB or bluetooth. You'll be able to use it with just your fingers.
You could also try a trackball. They're not very common, but your wrist and arm hardly needs to move at all. You could also try to find a stylus that works with your touchpad. Amazon has some good ones that use a metal fabric, not the rubber tip common with ones you find in stores. Much smoother glide on a touchpad.
@@michaelholub5027 Wow, they sell accessories now to make using a touchpad less intolerable? smh - I know, why I love my ThinkPads and their TrackPoint :-)
@@Seegalgalguntijak I wish my HP Spectre had trackpoint! I can get by with the touchpad, but there's a reason I keep a bluetooth mouse and spare batteries in my laptop bag...
@@michaelholub5027 Absolutely. With a laptop that has no trackpoint, I always need an external mouse in order to be able to use it properly. With a ThinkPad (or at least another laptop that has a trackpoint, although these usually lack the third button for the scrolling function), I don't need an external mouse.
Michael Holub I always use a trackball mouse because I like to use my laptop in bed and the trackpad has burned/irritated my finger tips. The trackball is great because you don’t need a mousepad or any surface to put it on because you don’t move your arm at all (just your thumb to move the ball). So I just have my hand with the mouse on my chest and it works great.
"The Insurance is gonna pay for everything" ... wait what? ... "It's a german insurance". Oh OK. :D
1SantinO2 😂😂😂😂😂😂😉
It happens. I have US insurance that will pay 100% for surgery. Forigners dont seem to understand that there is thousands of different insurance companies. If you get insurance you choose on how much you want you want to pay monthly. The less it you pay monthly the more your deductible is and vice versa. If you get insurance through your employer you could have no deductible or a small deductible.
@@jessicaely2521 We have hundereds of insurances in Germany and they ALL will pay everything if the surgery is deemed necessary to gain full mobility of her wrist. The amount you pay depends on what you earn as it is a fixed percentage of you income (There is an upper limit though.) but you will get the same treatment no matter how much the absolut amount is you pay.
@@raempftl i know. I lived in Grrmany for 10 years. A lot of Germans/Europeans act like there is.only 1 insurance in the US. You all seem to not realize some insurance have a high deductible and some dont.
We have a few houndred different health insurance companies, but all (almost) cost and pay the same. You'll always pay 15-16% of your income for. So does your employer.
Wishing you quick healing!
Good luck with the surgery and take it easy
Having insurance makes the situation so much better. Get an electric can opener and get your housemates to help you!
Feli, try using a trackball. I've found trackballs much easier to use with the off hand than a mouse.
Glad you're doing fine! Happy thoughts, Feli!
Sorry to hear about your injury. I wish you a speedy recovery! And an electric can opener!
*Fun fact:* The word you were searching for is _dexterous,_ derived from the Latin word for right [handedness]. On the other hand _(grin!),_ the word _sinister_ is derived from the Latin word for left [handedness]. Bias?
*P.S.* There are motorized, counter-mounted can openers....
*P.P.S.* Interview your health care professional! Film your surgery?
Don't know about about the bias, but the Romans used "dexter" for "right handed", and "sinister" for "left handed" They used it as neutral words, because their aim was that every soldier had to use his sword as best as he could
When everyone told you to 'break a leg' , they didn't mean that literally. Though I'm only going out on a limb here. Tschüss!
P.S. Please, PLEASE!, tell me you have health insurance in the US.
Yes, I have insurance!
@@FelifromGermany didn't you say that in the video? 🤔
There are lots of horror stories of people *with* (good!) health insurance in the US…
And Feli didn't break a leg. ;-)
wish you fast recovery
Gute Besserung Feli! 🙏🏽
Your insurance sounds wonderful . Any chance you'd like to put me on it as a dependent ?
0:06 Gute Besserung. Liebe Grüße aus der Hauptstadt des europäischen Fußballs.
Du meinst Nyon in der Schweiz? (Da sitzt doch die UEFA, oder?) ;-)
Wien? ;-)))))
I'm glad you're ok! I hope your wrist heals soon!
Looking forward to you coming back healthy. Good luck
I once broke BOTH of my wrists at the same time. It presented a lot of challenges.
Wow I can imagine...
That reminds me of the Full House episode were Jessie breaks both arms riding his motorcycle and needed help with everything.
@@ericvacca551 I have a high tolerance of pain. I actually drove myself to the ER when I broke both wrists.
@@scottlinting6308 that's good to hear it wasn't excruciating. I was just talking about the issues with dexterity and mobility that get affected.
@@ericvacca551 My Doctor said I should have been in tremendous pain. When I went to the ER he thought my wrists were just sprained, because I was moving my wrists and fingers. I said I heard SNAPS on impact with the ground and asked him to X-Ray.
He was dumbfounded.
Ouch! Involuntary ambidexterity is no fun.
Sorry to hear about your physical constraints, the accident and everything. I learned about it on Instagram. I am happy to learn that you have good insurance and you feel confident for your surgery and recovery. You are someone I enjoyed watching on CZcams, and someone who I feel that if I knew in person, I would enjoy knowing and would encourage you through this 'rough patch'. Gute Besserung Felicia und ich hoffe du bekommst viel Ruhe.
I’m giving a thumbs up, because you are being so positive about it all. I’ve broken both of my wrists-at separate times-one time I was skating. One thing to remember is to be sure to ask others for help if you need it.
What a fantastic attitude! You will come out of this just fine. I broke the same wrist (also right handed) many years ago, also skating. Learned to use the left hand pretty quickly. Hoping for a quick and full recovery!!
