    that soundtrack for the first 3 mins or so, very wow...

    It started like a classic Popeye animated cartoon. Then we see an hand drawn animation taken from an animated cartoon.
    But the game graphics and sounds almost look like an old Atari game, much less detailed than the Arcade version.

    • @ackman3981
      @ackman3981 Před 3 lety +1

      Of course it will less detailed. Arcade machines have hardware that computers like the Amiga have to emulate. Also depends on the company that produces the games. Do they want to spend the effort on gameplay? Or spend it on graphics and have bad gameplay?
      For a public domain game, it not that bad looking.

    The extra level included and the cartoon intro is fantastic. I like how its a polished and improved deluxe version of the C64. Better color palette and new better look. It's my favorite port of the classic arcade game.

    I didn't realize the big bully's name was Brutus. Hm. So I guess the dude who stabbed Julius Caesar was named Bluto? "Et tu, Bluto? Well blow me down!"

    • @ChristopherSobieniak
      @ChristopherSobieniak Před 9 lety +1

      Brutus was what King Features used for a while when they thought they didn't have the right to use Bluto (that was another matter altogether).

      After the theatrical Popeye cartoon series ceased production in 1957, Bluto's name was changed to Brutus because it was incorrectly believed that Paramount Pictures, distributors of the Fleischer Studios (later Famous Studios) cartoons, owned the rights to the name "Bluto". King Features actually owned the name, as Bluto had been originally created for the comic strip. Due to a lack of thorough research, they failed to realize this and reinvented him as Brutus to avoid supposed copyright problem.

    Interesting how Bignonia themed this Popeye port off the cartoon "Popeye the Sailor Meets Sindbad the Sailor" as opposed to the 1960's cartoon which Nintendo's version was based on.

      ***** The team who brought this game to the Amiga specializes in C64 to Amiga ports. So, this game is nothing put a special c64 port. The Amiga is capable of much better sound and graphics. Of course.
