To those of you who read the description: You are an excellent subscriber! :)
New York 1918 was originally planned as an 8-player double round robin tournament. Norman Tweed Whitaker began a game a day before Round 1, became ill and withdrew from the event, leaving it as a 7-player field.
ROUND 1 saw the most famous game of the tournament. Marshall sprung his prepared variation of what has come to be known as the Marshall Gambit, but Capablanca wove his way through the complications at the board to win the game. Kostic drew with Chajes. In ROUND 2, Marshall lost to Chajes, and Marshall was never able to overcome the bad 0-2 start and catch Capablanca and Kostic. Janowski lost to the eventual tail-ender, Morrison, and this was the beginning of a lackluster result for him. In ROUND 4, Marshall beat Janowski, but this was a bit too late to reverse his fortunes. Kostic beat Morrison, but drew five of his first six games. Despite going undefeated in the tournament, this would not be a sufficiently fast pace to catch Capablanca, who would score a blistering 10.5/12.

You could've explained why at 8:40 you cannot capture the pawn.
The point is that if you do play 1.Nxd4 then 1...Re1 gives white a lot of activity and also regains the pawn with this line:
    1
    ...Nxd4 2. Re8+ Ka7 3. Re7 Ka6 4. Rbxb7 Rd8
With correct play this should probably end in a draw but it's perhaps easier to play with white because of the active rooks, and having a bishop vs knight is also favorable in a game played on both sides of the board.

Random fact: Recently on antiques roadshow, a person had a chess board from this era but it had been damaged in hurricane katrina. On the board is a golden plack with names of chess masters who played on it. Capablanca is one, Lasker is another and many more. Thought you'd people might be interested in that stuff.

You know what made Bobby Fischer's saga so much more engaging? It was the actual story behind the matches. I mean, the matches are all amazing. But knowing enigmatic Fischer was at every turn of every match, the things he would say, and ESPECIALLY during the world championship match, the various problems he created... All of it just added up to a much more engaging saga. That being said, I like the capablanca saga, but it could never top Fischer. Fischer told kids they couldn't eat candy while he played chess!!!

13:45 Comment incorrect. Capa can capture the rook with Nb4, white can't get a Queen with f7. Because black will catch the pawn with Rc8. The reason white plays f6 is that any move white makes will lose for him. And the reason Capa doesn't capture the rook is that he is torturing his opponent since he doesn't resign. He is impling that his position is so much superior as he doesn't even need the opponent's rook. He already delivers checkmate in 10 moves. Unbelievable game power.
