    Great timing on this video for me! I started out playing Supp just to help my friends fill but really enjoyed the roll. I decided it would be best to pick a main early on to learn the game, but ended up going with thresh all the way to mastery 7 over the past month or so. I've definitely been meaning to switch up who I play since I can tell I often don't have the proper knowledge to fully unlock Thresh's potential, and am definitely lacking in some more basic knowledge, so this video will be a big help in picking my 1/2 new mains, especially since I hit level 30 a week ago. Thanks for the amazing videos as always!

    I started playing LoL about 10 years ago and I've mained / one-tricked a couple champions (Sona, Janna, Bard,...) at this point. I've also played most supports enough to understand what they do. Because of how much I've played over the years my Champion pool has grown to about 15 support Champions. Despite that I'm still "only" Plat (I could probably get to low Dia if I tried). It may be worth noting that I played enchanter only for the first three years, so I think it makes sense to stick to one class at the start.
    I would argue that if u have played the game for a long time its a good idea to slowly grow ur Champ pool regardless of ur Elo. That of course is assuming u like playing different Champions.
    If u want to pick up a new Champion and u dont know which one. I suggest trying Champions that are currently strong, because that is going to make it easier for u early on when learning the Champ.

    Masterclass as always, that's my coach! At the beginning of the season I made a champ pool of rell, sona, and renata trying to be very general. As you can guess since im low plat this did cause problems, but I was able to notice a lot about my play. I rarely played renata due to her clunkiness and was unwilling atm to put in the work to smooth her out, and I got bored of playing sona and eventually basically just became a rell one trick lol. I've peaked so far in about 50ish lp in p2 but am currently low p3, so I'll consider myself low elo. I have been wanting to change my pool out for weeks and I guess this is the sign to do it! I will play two champions from the same class being engager since it seems thats what I like the most, so rell and leona/rakan/naut (I know you advised against rakan but he is my most played champ of all time) so thanks for the vid and hopefully you'll be hearing about my successes in the discord soon!

      @elTT91 Před 11 měsíci

      @@CoachCupcake Thank you very much for taking the time to answer this old comment !
      I really need to watch some High level Tahm Kench games to see how they play. From the runes and build you gave me, I would assume a more passive playstyle of always sticking with your carry with your R ready.
      I've spent a lot of time experimenting with the champ, and the last dark tech I found is the following :
      HoB/taste od blood/zombie ward/ingenious hunter with Green tree in secondary.
      HoB lets you quickly stack your passive to devour an enemy or as a follow up of your W engage. Ingenious hunter is to reduce the sweeper cd so that you have more chances to benefit from zombie ward. It also helps with the build :
      Okay so as I said in my previous comment, Iceborn feels good on Tahm (extra cc when you stack your passive).
      But the item is expensive. And I want to rush on item before which is... tear !
      All right so after tear, I build redemption (increase all your heal/shield strengths, can heal your ally after R, gives you heal to cast one more E when you are low...).
      Then, I finish the Fimbulwinter (even if tear stacking can be tedious, the item is cheap, gives a ton of HP and feels amazing on Tahm).
      Lastly, I can build Iceborn if the game duration allows me !
      So yeah, Ingenious hunter reduces the cd of redemption and allow Fimbulwinter cd to be 5 sec instead of 8. So, you get a shield every 2 Qs that last for 3 sec and then you have your E that last for 2.5 sec, and so on.
      The broken part to me is when you can accumulate grey health and not take damages thanks to the item shield so that you can let your E passive heal you.
      So I think you've guessed that this build is more based on engage even tho redemption and HoB are good peeling tools !
      Sorry for the wall of text.
      Anyway, have a great day Coach ; )

      That’s a decision only you can make. If you love those champions, you are signing a contract agreeing to having a rockier climb/rate of improvement. It also depends how low elo you are, if you’re high gold/low plat it might not be too bad. There’s no advice to be given for low elo on playmakers, you need to learn the game and that will prove more difficult on your champs.

    Hi Coach Cupcake! I've just (re)discovered you through the Broken By Concept podcast and have been watching your videos avidly! I had a question in regards to my champ pool, Senna more specifically and off-meta champions. Due to IRL stuff I have only been able to play at the start of this season, reaching p4 in 100 games with a 60% wr. 10 of those games were on adc (I thought of role switching but didn't stick to it. I have played Senna for about 54 games with a 65% win rate and renata glasc 16 games and a 75% wr. As I said 10 games on adc and the remaining games are on a bunch of different champions. Il
    1. What do you qualify Senna as, since she is so unique, in terms of learning capacity (aka, does she fall into the playmaking category, which in turn should reduce my champ pool size by 1 or not?)
    2. I would like to add an off meta pick into the mix. I have been loving orianna with shurelyas and Lissandra with glacial and mandate + evenshroud. Would you condone or encourage this?
    Thank you for your time if you do respond to this.
    Thanks for the amazing content!

    • @CoachCupcake
      @CoachCupcake  Před 10 měsíci +1

      You can treat Senna as an enchanter. Her playstyle isn't unique it's more her build and kiting in the mid-late game that can be very different from normal. I wouldn't classify her as -1 to your champ pool.
      Eventually off-meta picks will probably come back to bite you and feel frustrating, unless you REALLY love a specific champ. As long as you're not using weird picks to have fun because you don't find the game or climbing fun in and of itself. This would need a longer discussion with more context tbh but TLDR is to be careful with the motivation behind wanting off-meta.

    • @mireauappel4678
      @mireauappel4678 Před 10 měsíci

      @@CoachCupcake Thank you for the answer! The reason for the off meta stuff isn't so much that I do it because it's off meta but more because I love orianna (I have played all roles A LOT in normal games with friends) and have found great success playing her as an enchanter to perma speed up the team and have a nice engage ult while also providing adc with 30 mr and armor.

    Hey, im a silver player i mained jg and switched to supp so i love roaming supp, like Thresh, Pyke, Janna, Alistar and Bard. I tried almost every supp in the game and i still can't bring myself to enjoy other more laning focused supp. Do you think i need to change my pool necessarily or do you think its ok to focus more on fun.

    • @CoachCupcake
      @CoachCupcake  Před rokem +1

      It depends what your goals are. If you want to improve and climb you will need to change your champ pool. You can play 1/2 engagers and roam too, while having more ease of execution and clarity of identity :)

      @@CoachCupcake Tnx for advice, ima try climbing with this pool for while and if i get stuck or bored with a champ im gonna follow your advice

      @@CoachCupcake Update, I am going to focus on Thresh and Bard, on Pyke i just get unconsistent results and Alistar an low elo at least for me doesnt feel good bc if team doesnt follow no matter how much i tank it doesnt matter. As for Janna im already good at her but if my team sucks i cant do anything so i only use her if im not solo Qing. Tnx for tips btw, but i just dont find engagers fun i like playmaking champs bc it feels so good when you know we won the game bc of your playmaking in team fight.

    Cupcake: Play the champs you enjoy most and have most mastery over
    Me: great, ill play rell, rakan and renata.
    Cupcake: Oh btw you should avoid rakan and renata
    Me: * confusion *

      Enjoyment and mastery take precedence :) it would be better if they were simpler champs for low elo, but go for it

      If you want to improve or climb, that is one of the worst decisions you could make. If you just want to have fun, go for it!

      I missed this comment sorry. It depends on the factors mentioned in the video. Your elo, your enjoyment, mastery etc. if you're high elo and you enjoy them that sounds pretty reasonable, although they do all have vastly different identities so you'd wanna reflect on if that's an issue for you.

      I can't talk about every champ, but I wouldn't recommend her as much as the enchanters listed in low elo.

      @Coach Cupcake no problem! Just figured she might be mentioned In at least one side of the video. I also didn't know what you would class her as. 👍

    How can i go higher if i enjoy my champion so much, yet i get teammates less intelligent than a rock? Gold ELO garbage can.
