    Brian - the expo on this radio is the opposite of Spektrum. Negative is more expo and positive is less! So you actually made it more twitchy by going to 10 from negative 20. The radio has a manual that explains this, but you have to read it a few times.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  Před 5 lety

      Oh, I see. sorry about my confusion...
      The carbon cub s+ is very cool, but it's a HUGE pain to get flying. The GPS system is complicated to setup, and it's soooooooo scary to be flying along, and hit the GEO-fence, and have the plane fly away, out of your control...luckily, the system seems to work, so hopefully the plane will be flying BACK to you, and not away from you..
      ...all that being said, she's a beauty, and flies WONDERFULLY!!!

    • @rosslee9055
      @rosslee9055 Před 5 lety +1

      That’s what I have heard about the gps system that’s why I was wondering if you had had any experience flying it to see how you handled the gps and set up and if you had any of the same problems as others or if they just read the manual

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  Před 5 lety

      I can tell you that I DIDN'T read the manual, but that would have made it significantly easier....but not less frustrating, based on my past experience with Horizon Hobby manuals :) (They are some of the best in the industry, but still some of this stuff is pretty confusing)

I look forward to playing with the Transmitter settings you suggest. By the way, get one of the XK 100 quads to bind to your transmitter. It is a lot of fun and only 25 bucks. More fun to BNF than to fly with its RTF transmitter. Great vids.

  • @keithwhisman
    @keithwhisman Před 5 lety +1

    You’re going to need spare rotors, feathering shafts, tail booms, canopies and main gear and main shaft to keep on hand to get you back in the air. You’ll be surprised how quickly you can destroy a tail boom with these tiny things and all you can really do is replace them with a new one.
    Fly it around in easy mode or safe mode until it’s second nature and then change your throttle and pitch curves to match those in 3D mode and then go back to flying it until it’s second nature and then switch to 3D mode.. I remember having to do a flip to prove to myself I was in 3D mode because I was so used to the middle stick zero. Use the Safe modes as a training tool to learn how to become super smooth with less and less expo and higher rates.
    I like this one a lot, it’s got a lot on the Nano especially since this is Brushless.

    Never ever use TRIM on a Flybarless System. The FBL System is doing it for you, so if you are setting Trim on your Transmitter, you are acting against the FBL System. If you have problems with drifting, (a little drift is okay, it's a Helicopter not a Drone with GPS), do a Trim Flight as descript in the manual.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  Před 5 lety

      I've been able to trim the heli just fine, but I agree large trim adjustments would be an issue with the 3X/6G system

  • @TheCameraGuy0
    @TheCameraGuy0 Před 3 lety +2

    I got a RTF version, if you want to fly upside down with the stock TX, you have lower the gyro to 41% or lower, any higher, I couldn't flip the heli.
    You can turn off the gyro but then it will be much hard to fly.
    Even at 41% gyro, I thought it was harder to fly than my 500 to 700 size helis.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  Před 4 lety +1

      No, it will not be compatible with a DX6e transmitter. The DX6e transmitter uses DSM2 and DSMX, a type of transmission protocol.
      There is an "Anylink" that can be purchased and installed to work with some competitive protocols, but I'm not an expert on it, but I believe it's supposed to support SLT (Tactics protocol) and some others...

    Hey Brian, Martyn here again, another great video ✅👍🏻 Going back to our conversation about the K124...Coincidentally the expo settings are 1, 2 and 4 😆 I’m still struggling to work out what they correspond to. I was expecting to see 1, 2, 3 and 4 (Throttle, Yaw, Pitch & Roll) . So can you tell me what 1, 2 & 4 correspond to? Also, in this video you mentioned gyro twice but didn’t get round to it. I’m no expert so I need extra stability, should I dial the gyro up or down in value?? Thanks buddy! 🚁

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  Před 3 lety +1

      Good questions, but sometimes when dealing with RTF aircraft, you have to guess and check. For example, the channel Numbers may be in some standard Futaba order, but I don't know it either, so I have to make a change, then check to see if it changes what I thought it changed.
      As for the Gyro, typically the larger value means MORE stabilization, but some RTF's differ, so it's a lot like the channel numbering, you have to guess and check.
      Sorry I don't recall these settings, and it's sometimes hard to follow along with more complex setup. I would highly encourage you to play with the settings, and see what you like. It's not a pass or fail sort of thing, it's a "Feel" kinda thing, so you'll have to kinda dial it in the way you like it. This is a bit of a pain, but you'll get used to it if you work with this aircraft a lot.

    That’s a Losi connector on those batteries.

    What is the difference between a brushless motor and a non-brushless motor ?

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  Před 4 lety +1

      Brushless motors have several coils that don't touch the stater with f (the middle piece that spins) and there's an ESC (electronic speed control) that runs the motor based on a signal from your transmitter/receiver.
      Brushed motors have brushes that reach from the case of the motor into the stater, making physical contact, which energizes coils, thus creating a magnetic field, and spinning. There's friction and wear between these touching pieces which causes less efficiency.

    Is this good for a beginner Heli Piolt Brain?

    • @keithwhisman
      @keithwhisman Před 5 lety +1

      Yes it’s small so it can handle many crashes. An easier to find at least state side would be a Horizon Hobby Blade Nano CPS Heli and well worth the money.

      I think it's maybe a bit capable for a first heli, but they sure are strong!!! The 3D6G gyro system works really good, but you still have to kinda have a feel for aircraft controls. I think a better first Heli would be a cheap quad...since they're typically a bit easier to fly, but if you're ready for the plunge - it's a GREAT value!!!

      @@keithwhisman thanks for the reply Sir....I fly planes and have tried Helis with no success.

      Miller I know it can be a hard thing to do but with flying helis buying a good simulator is very important it’ll save you a lot of repairs as you progress in learning to fly helis. I recommend purchasing Horizon Hobby Real Flight 8 Horizon Hobby edition that comes with a good transmitter for the sim only and a very large fleet of realistic and accurate flying airplanes, drones and helicopters and gliders. Most importantly about This version of RF Sim is that it contains most of Horizon Hobby aircraft including their fleet of helis meaning you can learn to fly say a Blade 360 CFX on the sim and then when you’re ready buy a Blade 360 CFX and go out flying though I would still suggest you start out with a Blade Nano CPS as it’s nearly indestructible and flies as tame as a fixed pitch in safe mode and when you’re ready you can master 3D in 3D mode with the flip of a switch. I only recommend Blade and Horizon Hobby because you can visit most US hobby shops and choose from a selection and have the benefit of the simulator with an accurate digital version available and you have a ready supply of repair parts to get back in the air from the many crashes you’re going to experience. Parts for the Blade helis are inexpensive unlike helis you buy online from importer websites, you’ll have to wait weeks to get your bird back in the air. No matter though, everyone crashes in RC Heli flying and that’s part of learning. Even the experts crash like crazy haha. It’s all about having fun and accomplishing something so few can master. No matter how hard it is to fly just remember that you will learn how to do it and it will soon become so easy it’ll become muscle memory.

      I'm very tempted, since they always ROCK, but buying three of the same plane...at some point I might need to get some help or something....LOL
