  • This is a demo of my latest amp built. It's a Weber 5F1 kit, which is a replica of 1950s Fender Champ amp. This demo mostly shows of the clean sound you can get from this amp.
    The amp actually sounds cleaner than the video shows. It's the mic on the phone that is not best for this.

    I have built two Weber 5F1 amps. Love their speakers (the best IMO) and the power transformers are good with almost 50% more current than another popular kit maker.. Also, the copper caps rectifiers are state of the art modern/vintage tech. I put the 8" Blue Pup in my 5F1 for a bit more brightness if I want it. The BPup also has a boosted 7.oz alnico magnet.
    Enjoyed your playing.

    Great demo! Autumn in you know where! But apparently you didn’t get the YT memo about “No short pants for guitar demonstrations…. Too bad.

    I have the exact same guitar Jim Hall Sadowsky! It surprisingly sounds very clear for such low watt low fi amp with a tiny speaker. What volume your at? Do you think it would work for a solo guitar gig in a small restaurant with the Sadowsky?

    • @RichieBielak
      @RichieBielak  Před 2 lety

      It maybe too low volume for a restaurant gig. You have to play low to get the nice tone. Once you turn it up it starts to distort. The 5E3 Deluxe amp, would probably be better. See: czcams.com/video/Dd5U59bRqyc/video.html

    What did you think of the kit and the final product? I’m thinking of investing in it. Was it difficult to build?

    • @RichieBielak
      @RichieBielak  Před 3 lety

      I like the Weber kits, although they come without instructions and you have to figure things out on your own. The amp is pretty easy to build. I had couple of cold solder points in the input part of the amp, so it didn't work at first. But then I re-did them and got the amp to work. Here are pictures I took of the build: photos.app.goo.gl/kDxe1nKYR7nqaiyYA
      I think this is a good starter amp. Tubedepot.com has a similar kit and their instructions are very good, but the price is higher :)

    How do you know which direction to put the yellow capacitors?

    • @RichieBielak
      @RichieBielak  Před měsícem

      The yellow capacitors do not have polarity (no + or - end), so you can put them either way.

      It's an 8in 4ohm speaker that came with the kit. :)
