I can confirm that a 1000GB nvme works in the 2242 WWAN slot of Dell Latitude 5490. I bought a Netac N930ES (NT01N930ES-001T-E2X) and using it with a 256GB 2248 mSATA in the primary slot. 👌
Finally! Someone who tried it out and pointed out the rubbish written in Dell's manual :-)
Is the 2242 slot PCIe/NVMe only? Or does it accept M.2 SATA disks as well? I ask because SATA are about 30% cheaper than their NVMe counterparts. So for someone who doesn't care about blazing fast speed, and is just looking for more memory at a reasonable price point, SATA is a better buy.
I can confirm that a 512GB nvme works in the 2242 slot. I bought a Lexar NM520 and am using it with a 256GB 2248 mSATA in the primary slot.
@@RohitdeSa hello, excuse me it's true that you can use a ssd and hdd at the same time?
@@arturop-4514 I assume by 'HDD' you mean '2.5" SATA drive'? Yes, this laptop does support a 2.5" SATA drive, however you will need to buy the requisite mounting kit and adapter cable. This is available from various sellers online.
The E5490 supports M2 + 2.5" SATA, as well as M2 + M2 drives, as long as you have the right accessory hardware to mount and connect them. Do note that a 2248 M2 drive shares the same physical space that a 2.5" SATA drive (either SSD or mechanical) would occupy. This means that you can only install either one of these at a time.
In my specific case, my laptop shipped with an M2 SATA 2248 drive. I wanted some more storage, so I bought a Lexar 2242 M2 nvme SSD and installed it in the WWAN slot.
@@RohitdeSa Thank you for answering me. could answer me another question, a person sells me this model 5490 but with solid state disk, (Hard Drive M.2 256GB SATA Class 20 Solid State Drive 256SSD [400-AOTF] [575-BBKU] 8), but I do not know what size it is, if as the first one showing the video or as the second one that shows 512 Gb?
@@arturop-4514The 256GB SATA disk is of the M2 form factor. It will likely be a 2248, meaning is is 22mm wide and 48mm long, designed to fit in the same physical area as a 2.5" harddisk.
Hello! Thank you for the demo. Have you tried using both M.2 PCIe SSDs at the same time? Would it be possible?
Same question is it possible to install both M.2 same time?
You guys yes can use both. However only one nvme at a time:

So the WWAN slot can be used as caching ssd?

Where's the trackpoint?
Well I try it do it the same on Wwan on 5495 but it's don't work Idk what's wrong?
Whole night I try it find it solution. Bios on dell lattitude 5495 it's nightmare. Any suggestion?
URTechDotCa ThanksMuch!===
hi, there is something I dont get, and that is, why you didnt get any read and write speed over a 1Gb/S with neither pcie nvme ssd? I get that that the m2 socket where you put the wd black ssd is on the sata bus what why the toshiba ssd which is also pcie nvme didn´t pass the 1gb/s on read and write secuence? its driving me nuts to not get it
Will this 5490 charge from USB-C?
Yes
Only using a USB-PD charger and cable.
How did you screw down the longer SSD? My 5490 has a cylindrical well made of orange plastic that has no groove to anchor down a screw.
There is a caddy that has to be ordered
Please sir I’m using dell latitude 5490
Can I place m.2 ssd drive as an external drive! in (wwan place?)
Can i use a SSD and another SSD in the WWAN port?
yes, bios don't see that disc but in windows is OK

can i have 256 + 512 gb ssd? in dell 5490
I can confirm the wwan slot in a 5400 does not work with ssd. I tried a 2230 w/adapter and 2242. WTF Dell. Btw I never saw anyone work on their PC with it powered on lol
Is CPU upgradable? And what's about display? Good enough for photo-video editing (like a non-pro). And viewing angles?
Summary: this one dell or HP elitebook 840 g5?
