The more I watch dating videos, the more thankful I am that I had the parents I had growing up. Even as a kid, I never gave these shows a second of authentic attention, or imagined that that's how dating was supposed to operate in the real world. My partner feels the same way - Even when we've briefly watched those types of shows it's always been with a sense of "This is delusional" lol.

My friend works in the psych ward at a major nyc hospital. Majority of patients are trans that wish they never did the surgery. But no one talks about that.

I am in my last year of nursing school and have started and almost finished my rotations (going to a bunch of different departments for nursing, ER, Nursing homes, Labor and delivery, etc). I also notice this as well! It got me thinking how crazy it is that this is not talked about. I have nursing friends, one a cousin who’s been a nurse for 6 years now and a friend who is also in nursing school, both In Vegas where I used to live. I asked them if they had noticed this In their rotations and to see if it’s nationwide as I work on the East coast. Cousin didn’t notice this, but she did her rotations about 7-8 years ago. But my friend who is also currently doing rotations noticed the same thing. It is crazy to see how no one is talking about this, no news coverage other than a select few in the trans community attempting to warn others of the intensely high levels of depression over surgery and the woke community.

MAJORITY of people in her hospital are trans/ ex trans????
      Really?
Most psych hospitals are full with people who have psychosis and severe personality disorders.
She must work in a special trans hospital then cos that doesn't make mathematical sense to have such a small demographic of people being prioritised over people would usually take up most spaces in a psych hospital.
And yes of course a trans person can also have the disorders I mentioned.

@@kahyui2486 Yeah so I talked to my best friend today and its not technically majority that she saw, and same with me. It was probably about 20-30% of people were trans or identifying as a different gender. We kinda categorized not by specifically "trans" but really anyone who identifies as something other than male and female. But at the psych hospital she visited it was not just 20-30%, she said it was almost half of the people admitted. Again though, it wasn't technically "trans", we just grouped the self identifiers together.

Jordan Peterson is trying to draw attention to that side of the trans journey, its strange, society currently supports people who want to make that change but never advices them to really ask themselves if this is what they really really want to make that change and then to realise you made a terrible mistake has got to be horrific I mean I am sympathetic to someone born in the wrong body but to put yourself in the wrong body has got to be soul destroying.

Regarding the trans section, I ended up making a video on this as I was curious how they engage people on dating apps. What it showed was that some trans women will purposely use predominantly straight apps in order to see if they can garner the interest of hetero men. As one account showed, the person spoke with a potential partner for months prior to informing them that they were trans in the hopes that with time, they would be able to look past this. So, essentially there is a validation aspect to this and they inevitably have to compete with women for partners.

The story of the boy with the burnt penis is not a valid argument against trans. The boy was not trans nor did he identify as trans. If anything this should only prove that you can’t just raise a kid whatever gender and they will identify that way. It’s much deeper than that and many trans people know at an early age. I was six when I understood I did not associate with my assigned gender. I talked about it even younger but I don’t remember that far back. I’m also intersex, like many of my trans brothers and sisters. Oh and I’m not autistic, though that is interesting statistics.

  • @Jen.K
    @Jen.K Před 7 měsíci +2

You can't get rid of autism, it's not curable, it's who people are. The fact that a significant number of autistic people also struggle with gender identity, does not mean that autism is something to be got rid of. What people need is help with understanding who and what they are, and how to live and function within a society and culture which seems alien to them.

    • @MB-yl9hm

Autism, unlike gender, is a spectrum, and it's a neurodevelopmental disorder that can have virtually no impact on someone's day to day activities to having them be entirely reliant on caregivers for the rest of their life. You could argue that for many people on that spectrum they are mentally disturbed as a result of their disorder. Having trouble communicating with others and picking up on social cues from an early age (i.e., alexithymia, dysprosody, nonverbal communication, pathological demand avoidance, etc.) is a pretty good way for many kids (and consequentially adults) to feel disconnected and agitated, and these are some of the most common symptoms of people diagnosed with ASD.

This honestly sums up some of my biggest pet peeves with niche expert podcasts. I'm sure Nadia is a cracking relationship psychologist so her initial insights are useful. It's dangerous to then pair that with her trans takes because she clearly knows fuck all about psychiatry and neurology.

How is anything she said regarding that topic wrong? I think she managed to be very inoffensive if not passive in what she said. There are many psychologists and psychiatrists who would agree with her assessment that "being trans" is heavily correlated with personality and anxiety disorders, similar with how eating disorders express themselves. Affirmation models of care help no one except the doctor's pockets. People who identify as trans deserve proper medical care, which means thorough psych evaluations to determine where their mind-body disconnect stems from and addressing that, not just telling them that whatever is in their head is the truth and the outside world is a lie and then prescribing HRT.

      1. Her point about differing traumas making trans women not women is silly. If a biological woman has suffered a severe SA and therefore has a different experience from the majority of women that have not experienced this is she no longer a woman?
      2. While it is well documented that there are a lot of psychiatric co-morbidities that does not make these links causal. I could make the same argument that actually untreated gender dysphoria could be causing these co-morbidities and this is in fact the stance that the majority of the medical community takes.
      3. Her story about the boy being a raised a girl and then committing suicide later can clearly be argued as a case for early transition, not against. If the boy has been allowed to live the way he identified from the beginning (as a boy) he would not have experienced the trauma she describes from him living as a girl.
That's all I can bothered with just now but there's plenty more gaps and flaws.

@@ciarangallaghercg I'd say that the point about "differing traumas" boils down to the fact that "trans women" can only ever be men.
A woman cannot be a "trans woman" in the same way a "trans woman" can never be a woman in any meaningful sense....

@@nickbarber2080 if this is an argument that you think not living as a female for your formative years means you can't be female then the solution to that would surely be earlier transition for children to prevent this happening? I assume that's not what you're wanting.
I therefore feel I have to assume you mean that genetics equal gender. This is clearly not the case as is heavily shown in the Thai population and Güevedoce among others.

How many people born as women have gone on to become "trans women"?
      Not so many.
In fact it's sort-of axiomatic...hence the need for the qualifier "trans"
Being female is inextricably linked to being a woman...ie being born as a woman.
You cannot "live as female" without actually being a woman.
There are intriguing reasons why some men think that they may be women, which are touched upon in the video.
But exploration of the causal links is made impossible by those who just chant mantras and stifle debate of this life-or-death topic.
