      That is interesting wonder if it's because it's has zoom

      @@blakeolson2036 That's not a zoom on this flashlight, it's just a variable focus. And because the overall build-quality of the optical path in such consumer devices is only mediocre, one has to deal with projected artifacts (spill). It can be minimized up to avoided by firstly focusing the beam into a pinhole which diameter is fit to the focus spot. That's how it's done with real lasers. The garbage light (the spill one doesn't want to have) is projected into a bigger diameter than the pinhole is, thus getting hold back on the incoming side of the pinholeaperture and only the useful beam going through the pinhole. After the pinhole then comes the actual output/beamforming optic. You can achieve even better signal to noise ratios by using anti-reflective coatings on all of the elements of the optical path, also on the pinhole itself but as you can imagine, that all makes up for a much bigger device (longer optical path because of more elements used in it) and certainly for a much more expensive one > so no one buys it just for having some fun with a laserlike light ...
