Why Radu Drăgusin Fixes One Of Tottenham's Biggest Problems

- With Eric Dier departing for Bayern Munich, Spurs' back line looks threadbare. As a result, Postecoglu has turned his attention to the highly-rated Romanian centre half; Radu Dragusin. Will he not only improve Spurs, but bring greater defensive flexibility for Postecoglu too?

As a Spurs fan, I’m excited to see him play, but I’m more relieved that we have added some desperately needed talented CB depth to be able to rotate the squad and hopefully keep players healthy
And the CB depth simultaneously bolsters RB depth since now Emerson and Porro won’t be playing in the same matches.
imagine dragusin also pulls his hammy
He helps even better cause he can play anywhere in the backline
Quite incredible how Spurs have transformed one of the most stale, boring and old sides in the league to one of the most exciting sides in Europe. Udogie, Van De Ven, Dragusin, Sarr, Kulusevski and Johnson make a strong young core while Maddison, Romero, Vicario, Bissouma, Porro and Bentancur are a group of very good playing close to their peaks. Son is the icing on the cake, a world class player and true leader. I thought Jose and Conte set them back years but reality is they will be serious challengers for some time.
Porro is only 24, still a ways from his peak you would think. Would also argue that 25 for a CB in Romero is on the younger side given they peak a little later than most positions. Not to mention Vicario at 27 for a GK is on the younger side.
Regardless, your point stands that it’s a side with exciting young players still developing as well as players really settling into their prime
As a Liverpool fan, I'm worried at how smart and tactical these transfers are that Ange is making, Spurs aren't far from the top spot and the team will be more lethal now
He's the best manager in the world. You should be worried. When this team gets to where it's going they will destroy every team in the world.
Steady on. Ange is obviously a good manager with great potential but Klopp has proven himself one of the best managers in the world, if not the best. I’m Spurs all the way but you can’t deny Liverpool their success, especially with more financial limitations than Man City
@@tomthebomb2715 😂 love the positivity 😂 👊
@@tomthebomb2715best manager?
God...angeball got fanboys.......😂😂😂
@@myownlilbubble No, it's fine. As a Spurs fan, I'm hoping that followers and representatives of other clubs think that Ange is bang-average and not worth paying attention to.
As an romanian Radu is the future of romanian football
can i ask what his name means in romanian?
He’s the future of Romanian football & Tottenham Ball now, very much looking forward to see how well he settles his quality is clear
It s his name, What could it mean? @@jesi6486
@@jesi6486nothing
@jesi6486 Dragoș the first was a Moldovian(Romanian) leader in the XIV th century,so.. from Dragoş to Drăguşin I'm guessing :))
Very solid assessment. Spurs desperately needed a center back, but it also seems like we have signed the correct player for that spot. I hope he's already stretching his hamstrings.
No winger beats Udogie. Check the reels
NOBODY gets the better of UDOGIE give me a break. Guy is a BEAST.
A times, he could be out of position because of their playing style. For eg, At Brighton
Good video but with all due respect, you've got it very wrong about the full-backs. Porro and Udogie are actually very good defensively and Ange likes them to play out wide as well as inside. Radu will be used as a CB but he can cover or come over to RB position when Porro is too far ahead. Ange wont want to play any full-backs with the aim of sitting back, they will be forward or coming inside when possible.
It’s a genius transfer when you slot him into the team - Porro is fantastic overall but REALLY struggles in the air so gets hit with overhead long balls all the time - Dragusin can perfectly compensate for that weakness, especially when Porro goes forward, as he is the exact opposite in the air.
@@emanresUcireneG Agree, Porro is world class and we've missed the aerial defensive and attacking aspect with Romero & MVDV out injuried. Radu signing is perfect timing
Disrespect to Udogie, he’s incredible 1v1 defensively, just gets caught out because of the system. Porto isn’t too bad this season either(last season he as bad as Trent 1v1)
Udogie has great physicality and fast, he's great at duels, but he made some blunders. (like against Arsenal and West Ham, but there were more). He's only 21 though, so he'll improve a lot still and he's very mature considering his age overall. What he should improve at imo is his passing. Our left side is much more static because he never even attempts to put some crosses or through balls in like Porro does.
@@darthrevan6861 completely agree, he’s got a ton of work to do in the final third especially, his final ball and passing can be erratic. His ceiling is insane though
Not to mention in the past 2 seasons Dragusin has played 62 matches and received only 4 yellow cards, no reds. Yet Romero in that time played only 45 matches, received 17 yellows, 3 straight reds, and served multiple bans as such (not to mention injuries). Micky and Dragu are our defensive future!
he's a bull in a china shop lol
romero is vice-captain for the club & his leadership has been instrumental in great seasons from destiny & porro. no club in the world moves on from a player of his quality because of red & yellow cards
@@azmilog There's also the constant penalties Romero gives away by committing rash and needless fouls in the box which has cost us at least a few matches lost. He's a hot head with no discipline. Regardless of the vice captain role, having well-disciplined defenders is far better than hot headed defenders
@@VincentOfTheTrades it's really not that black and white. his quality and calmness on the ball is a factor. he is always looking to progress the ball. & he was at his best with the full-strength backline to ease off some of the tension. he is simply too good for the cards to be important. plenty of great sides run the risk of a red because of the quality of players exactly like cuti romero
@@VincentOfTheTrades i honestly just disagree entirely with your description of him. i don't think he is the hot headed one-note player you describe.
Underestimating Porro and Udogie’s current defensive abilities I see. Not sure this was a very good analysis tbh😵💫🤔
It's Drahgoo-sheen. Spelled Dragusin. The Dr is Dr, the a is pronounced ah, g is g, u is oo, s is sh and in een...it's hard to explain the Romanian names...
As a Tottenham fan, I am delighted to have him playing for us. A late Bayern Munich offer was almost double the wages Tottenham have offered. But he chose Tottenham because he could compete to play in first team game.
It's fake news Bayern would not pay way more for Dragu he would have been a depth signing not a starter. I am not sure bayern would have offered double for him. Bayern has a tier wage system.
@@Samelamers I thought he was gonna start in a back 3 with them
I’m sorry but no one is picking Tottenham over Bayern unless they’re insane
@@anthony6800 and then only to end up like calvin phillips?
@@anthony6800Playing in Prem is way better than playing in Bayernliga
Udogie arguably the best & consistent one v one def in the league this year whilst Porro is vastly improved as well & probs only second to Trent narrowly this season, strange comment, Radu 100% will be deployed as a CB the rotation between VDV,Cuti & Dragusin will hopefully keep them fatigue injury free, obviously impact injuries are diff, forgot to say he’s 6,3” very powerful in the air and very quick, just not as rapid as Micky VDV, very much looking forward to see him fit into Ange system
love udogie but he is not nearly as consistent as porro. take the chelsea game for example, udogie was shocking
also the udogie disrespect is crazy he pocketed salah
Not: what are Bayern cooking! It should be: what are Bayern smoking?
The Rad Dragon looks like a guy that John Wick needs to get through in order to get to the boss character and his one main fighting ability is a headbutt that can break concrete.
Radu will be a CB. Ange plays Perro and Distiny in the middle when there attacking. Radu has the speed to cover in behind. Ange wont play him over Perro. Romero is the player that is now under threat. 22 yellow card 2 red card. Often picks up an injury. Radu has only gotten 4 yellow card in his career no red. Red some where he hardly gets injured. If he gets a run of Games he takes Romero place.
Maybe why Romero I read was keen to come
Back for the Man U game 🤔🤔🤔
Agreed. He is clearly not being bought as a RB. Porro is currently the best in the league. U need 3 top level CB minimum and U play the best 2 on form, injuries and suspensions.
Yeah he should be. Radu is beast. Reading reports its said that he is a modern day defender. Stays on his feet. Uses his body well. He in a way is like VDV just not as fast. The same way of playing, @@peejayq
I dont think we will ever see Dragusin play right back.
5:14 literally the main reason i liked this video and Subscribed to the channel🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Amazing how Tottenham managed to rebuild their defense in a year with exciting young players, Porro, Udogio, Van de Ven and Dragusin. Lets see if they keep investing in the Summer but at least now Romero is in good company.
Postecoglou only signed on 1st July - its only been half a year yet
@@userinfo3119 i said Tottenham, not Postecoglou.
draco is gonna be soooo perfect for udogie since he likes going deep into and play as an invert. him and vdv's recovery pace is gonna be insane icl. looking forward to seeing how it all unfolds.
Pronounced as; Drago Sheen
Really good signing for Spurs, moving out Dier also helps
we were undefeated at home in the last season at the lane with one of the best backlines in the history of the club. toby alderweireld, jan vertonghen, danny rose, kyle walker, kieran trippier, and ben davies. this new defence of christian romero, micky van de ven, destiny udogie, pedro porro, radu dragusin, and ben davies has the potential to surpass it. they need time and they have all of my support:) coys and shout out to ben davies
it's DRAGO SHEEN like in Charlie Sheen
I don't know what's more surprising. Dragon picking spurs instead of Munich OR dier going to Munich
dragusin choosing spurs over bayern isnt actually that confusing if you think about it for more than 3 seconds, idk why tuchel wants dier as a backup though
Great video breakdown
He's got a foot like a traction engine!!
😂😂😂😂
Goooaaal!!!!! And another!!!!!
I'm a yank and a Spurs fan, don't know all the much about football tbh but your video breakdown was really easy for me to follow, just wanted to say thanks and I really like how you put this together, definitely a like and a sub.
When will the video "How Eric Dier fixes one of Bayerns biggest problems" come out?
This video killed me 😂 great analysis and banter
Exactly the same was said about Davinson, hope he is better.
As a Romanian you pronounced his family name badly, but as an English speaker, you did great, don't worry
Udogie is the one of the best 1v1 defenders in the league. And is already top 2 left backs in the league
I think what Dragusin helps with is providing width when the fullbacks tuck in.
Super video loved the subuteo
Good video, but you can probably forget about that right back part. Especially the right back always inverts into midfield and is very important for build up and also Chance creation. Dragusin probably can play a fullback role like Ake or Ben White do, but not the way Spurs fullbacks play. He’s a natural CB
It’s Drăgușin !
Ș =SH
ă = ămazing, ă bottle, ă little …
Thank you ! 🙏🇷🇴
Sheen with ee short
A great video this
Dragusin will not be playing right back. Spurs have Porro and Emerson and would almost certainly then prefer someone like skipp, sarr, bissouma, etc to fill in if they have an injury crisis. Someone that actually has 360 degree vision and is good under pressure in tight spaces like he demands of his fullbacks. When there was such an injury crisis at Celtic it was Hatate a center mid, not a center back that filled in in that position. A center back like Dragusin does not have close to the profile required.
No chance Postecoglou would put dragusin at right back. He prefers to lose 4-3 than draw 0-0
This season, maybe. Cups comps next year, wouldn't be surprised to see him become more pragmatic, just to mix up strategiea to keep opponents guessing. Access to elite talent could change this for ange
As long as he's an upgrade on Dier and Royal I'm happy
Omg imagine forwards seeing Dragusin and Romero in front of them......switch the ball to the other side...for their team mates to face....Van de Wen and Udogie.. :-)
Lol 🤡
I bet he will play on the left side and fill in as 6 allowing players like Bentancur and Bissouma to cover the wing and one to move up to find open spaces. One of the games Ange was concerned about getting exposed on the wing that Bissouma started to drop back when Porro moved into the central area of the middle third. With Dragusin they can move him as 6 and when the ball is lost in the middle third he can drop back as a CB and Micky can cover the wing since he has a superior speed to close down. I felt like Micky was the only speedy cover guy and all that running eventually caught up to him. Now he can potentially take more risk if he has Romero and Dragusin. In the last game against MU they basically played 3 backs and I think he can easily play how Stones played last season.
I remember videos like this for Man United for when Amrabat turned up
Dragusin = Dragu(sh)in ... The actual spelling of his name has a little comma under the "s". In the Romanian alphabet, this is an "s" pronounced as "sh"
Love this channel and the different in-depth perspectives you guys analyze the game from 👍
not at all how angeball works. Our fullbacks come inside and we play very narrow to press and flood the attacking channels, we would never see one just sitting back covering a space. Ange would rather win by outscoring than worry about rock solid defence
Not sure about him playing full back, I think if that was the plan we would have already seen it with VDV, who has played LB in his career.
Udogie is a great 1 to 1 defender.
I knew he was flexible across the entire back four, what I am very interested to find out though is he could operate as a six. Given we don't really have anyone of the same quality as Bissouma as our backup in that area, this is some quality news. Bentancur could probably play there but I think that's a bit of a waste of his talents.
Knee-jerk reaction is you're delusional if you think Ange is going to play Dragu as a wing back, but I'm not an expert with a big table of miniatures, so I'll just prepare to be surprised.
Whats that jumper ?
Udogie put Salah in a spliff for 90 minutes, what is he on about

That’s a good pronunciation. Not perfect, but acceptable :)))

I’m a United fan and that comment still had me belly laughing
Some Alderweireld type passes in those clips
It's Radu Dragu-sheen🤓☝️

and very few wingers will get the better of Udogie... do your research
Ra Ra Dragusin Tottenham's great ball machine
The United roast😂😂
I've been told its Druh--go-shin
DRAGUSIN name, you can pronounce correctly, if you put together the words DRAGU and SHEEN (Charlie Sheen).
We know that a Romanian name, is hard to be pronounced correctly ! 😁
We wish him good luck, and we hope that he will play against Manchester this Sunday !!!
Udogie and Porro are two of the best fullbacks in the league so i don't think you know what you're talking about!
Ange wanted Dragosin (pronounced Drago Sheen by the way) to be another centre back option. No more no less. You should watch more games Tottenham play would be my advice because this analysis sucks!
The problem Spurs have solved is...buying a player for a spot we need desperately to fill.
We normally buy a left back when we need a striker.
Problem solved. If only we did it when we had Bale.
GBH, you are not wrong LOL coysssss
it pronounces Druh-goo-shin, with the accent on "i"
Porro isn't coming out of that team unless he's injured or suspended
'Drug-ooo-shin'
Drago-Sheen
Dragusheen!
5:14 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
now i can understand why tottenham were also looking to buy ben godfrey
beter for the UK people to say "Dragushin"
Poor analysis towards the end. dragusin won’t play RB unless in some catastrophic emergency. Pedro porro inverts from the RB inward towards midfield, and dragusin will shift over to cover the half CB half RCB space but we won’t ever be a pure out and out RB
Pronunciation: Druh-goo-shin
Pronounced Dragosheen
COYS!
prononciation wasn't too bad. More exactly it would sound like an englishman would read "Druhgoosheen"
Apparently it's pronounced Drag oo sheen. Who knew ...

This is some amount of nonsense. He’s never played full back. He’s played in a back 3.
Dragu-shin!

Dragusin won't ever play RB , he isn't made for creating more than usual , or going higer , like ange likes to use his RB'S
Dragusin is a cb , no negociations
I've been told by a romanian matey boy its pronounced Radu Drah-Goo-Shin
Druh-goo-shin
