On the day of Chung Yeung Festival, KMB operates special routes to cater different cemeteries. I decided to go and record 279S as they were using a lot of Euro 3 buses. When I arrived at Cheung Ching Estate Bus Terminus in Tsing Yi, I immediately saw an ATE and decided to ride and record. There wasn't much time before the departure time to take enough photos so most of them were taken in Wo Hop Shek terminus.
The bus was a Transbus Enviro 500 with a Voith gearbox. Unlike the slighter newer ATEs, this bus (LF6071) has higher rpm. At some locations, the driver would use the semi-manual selector on hilly sections which made the ride more enjoyable.
KMB 279S is a special cemetery route connecting Wo Hop Shek in Fanling with Tsuen Wan and Tsing Yi. The fare is quite steep at $21 compared to 279X being $15.8. 279S heads directly to Wo Hop Shek from the highway. The passenger volume of this route wasn't very high but for other routes at Wo Hop Shek, they have more demand.
I decided to film downstairs again. I have already filmed other ATEs upstairs but I wanted to show the viewers a different view and also get more engine sound. The A/C however was a bit loud but at least I am able to get a good recording.
