I actually kinda love old nostalgia+horror but its rarely done right- like "omg lets make everyone edgy edge lords" is so icky to me. I just want the same characters, same personalities, same characteristics but with A TOUCH of horror added to it-
So this is like my dream come true in terms of media, consider me a media gremlin because i will be munching on all of them episodes

I hope to god Orange Blossom and Strawberry Shortcake's reunion is a really heartfelt one because those two were always my favorite... And now that I think about it, I turned into Strawberry and my bestie gives OB vibes, and OB was always my favorite character, so like, why did my life have foreshadowing?

@@Acorn905 Yeah, she’s definitely be a frienemy/antagonist character in the AU
In the original show, I got the vibes that she kept trying to "one up" her neighbors by cheating and stuff because she thought life operated with a sort of hierarchy that she had to try to be at the top of. Over the course of the series, she slowly realized the others just wanted to be friendly, and that she can just be friends with them, no competition needed. (Hence why she's a well-meaning disaster child doing her best in the later seasons.)
All this to say that, in a pseudo-zombie-apocalypse like this, I can imagine Peppermint acting as you described, and specifically doing so because she believed everybody else would be doing the same and that she'd need to get ahead in order to stay safe. I think that as it became more obvious that things didn't work like that, she'd chill out, just like she did in the original series.

An idea i have is that maybe the more fruit oriented ppl (ex: Strawberry Shortcake) can be slightly allergic to the plant infection, while dessert oriented characters (ex: Angel Cake) can be unbothered (or even stronger) by it.

OK, I know basically nothing about 'Strawberry Shortcake', so I'm not going to suggest any specific character stuff or anything like that, but - I do have some thoughts.
It seems to me that if these are BERRIES we're talking about, here, then there's an overlooked possibility with the hit-them-they-turn-back-into-normal-berries business. If I understand it right, you have the evil spell just sort of splatter off them in the form of some sort of gunk - well, what if that gunk were JAM - zomberry jam? And what if, while the zomberries themselves cannot hurt people, their jammy leftovers can - if you eat them? Because what else would you do with jam, right? Especially since it turns out zomberry jam is super-delicious.
Mind you, I'm not saying the jam kills them or turns them into zombies or anything dark like that - I get it; we're preserving a light tone for contrast, here. No, I'm thinking more like a sort of Jekyll-and-Hyde potion; like it makes you go all nyahahaha and, in fact, start acting like the Pieman. Which makes sense, because he cast the spell, right? Maybe a bit of his greed for berries leaked into the spell, and if you consume enough of it, YOU become a greedy bastard, just like him.
And that brings up another thought: are all these berries converging on the Pieman's perilous pad? Because he cast the spell to make them come to him, right - presumably, they WOULD be coming to him, even if they're evil shambling zomberries now. And if they are - oooh, MORE possibilities. Presumably the Pieman and Sour Grapes are terrified out of their minds at first, until they yell at the zomberries to go away or something - and they do! Because the Pieman cast the spell, he can control the zomberries, just like he wanted - except he doesn't, because he wanted REAL berries, not freaky zombie ones. You can't make zomberry pies! They'd taste AWFUL! He's got his pride! So he sends them off to do random evil things until he can figure out what the hell he's going to do now.
But there's another twist! It turns out that if you become a greedy pseudo-Pieman through eating the zomberry jam, then YOU can control the zomberries! So if, say, two of the good guys ate the jam, then suddenly there's three different factions of zomberries all charging back and forth and causing chaos, while the Pieman is going crazy trying to figure out what to do - he just wants to make pies, dammit! Is that so much to ask? - and meanwhile, poor Strawberry Shortcake and the rest of her pals are just wondering why Orange and Huckleberry are acting so strange all of a sudden. I mean, yeah, they've grown apart since they were kids, but still, all this fruit-stealing and invisible-mustache-twirling is a LITTLE much...
Sorry; maybe more specific than you wanted. Your story, of course; please feel free to ignore all of the above nonsense if you don't like it. Just spitballing, is all.

Honestly i really like this idea too and would love to see how this all comes together, im someone who likes mlp but often enjoys grimdarks (aka mlp creepypastas) so a horror story that is also kid friendly would be very interesting to see for me and also maybe good for my brain cause i could use more fun and whimsy my horror

The algorithm and all it's weirdness broughtme here, and I wasn't disappointed. Love the driection and tone your taking this AU, the only thing I have ever scene of Strawberry Shortcake is maybe be an episode or special about the embodyment of Spring wanting to play in the snow for longer and Strawberry and the gang have to find her to get the season of spring roĺling again. So if I'd want to suggest a character from this series to draw it would e the Sprit of Spring as I thought she looked cute and I like the idea of concepts and aspects of reality being their own person as it tickles my fantasy brain. So if this is treating like a season when winter comes around Spring can just not bring spring back before the zomberries are all sorted with. I think Spring could still be this young character whos really into this new adventure as this zomberry thing has never happened before, she'd want to discect the zomberries to see how they tick, she be the one to get the ball rolling to find a way to solve the dilemma.
