  • In June 1965 the modern world is emerging before our very eyes. It is an exciting time as we witness the first American to walk in space while the fashion scene is drawing inspiration from the space race. Music is a mix of both wholesome pop, R&B and blues rock with the emergence of new sub-genres. Concepts and potent images are being introduced into lyrics that paint pictures of surrealism, impressionism as well as straight to the point sexual frustration. But there is also a social criticism taking root of contemporary society which some consider to be superficial. All that combined with a new jingly jangly sound that rattles onto the radio waves. From Swinging London to the hills of Laurel Canyon, June 1965 is an iconic time in music and the changes in society are starting to become apparent.

I Can't Get No Satisfaction is one of the best songs ever. What an iconic open & great drums & vocal. Shines in Apocalypse Now & love the Devo cover.

Yes it is! Love that song. And Thank you for the kind words! It’s a really fun part of the process, coming up with the concept that ties the research together with some creativity!

I really enjoy your videos! I was 3 yrs old in '65. I loved all these songs growing up. Listening to your channel gives me more context about what was going on at the time.

Back in the days when the groups would actually play instruments and write songs with decent melodies; not just make a loud tuneless noise over which they say nothing with any real loving meaning or relevance. I use the word 'say' because they usually can't sing, properly anyway.

I was 8 in 1965...had my own transistor radio...always listened to WLS out of Chicago...and KSTT a local radio station in the Quad Cities (Moline IL /Davenport Iowa area) ...Good times...a great time to be a kid.

@@marthamack1544 All the best to you as well. Larry Lujack was one of my favorite WLS disc jockeys...I miss the more music and less propaganda format. I remember later in the 70s..being able to get KAAY out of Little Rock Arkansas on Saturday nights....a whole different genre of music . Have an awesome day.

MBEs could be awarded for people who provided economic benefits to the UK, one going in 1956 to Jaguar founder William Lyons. As with the Beatles, he was a major exporter.

It depends when you grew up if its the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s, or this decade
I do prefer the sixties. Nothing like Lennon and McCartney or the stones
    Cheers have a great day

Simple fun time. It's weird we're conditioned to expect fakery in music and at "live" concerts now. I vote no at all costs. Imperfect human creativity at all times, please.
