    Great video of mirror sailing in bleak conditions, I like the cup of tea in the galley very cool.

    Thanks for posting these videos. I wish we had more old mirrors around here.

    Another good video, it looked like you had some serious waves for a dinghy to cope with.

    This is weird because a massive construction vessel called Curlew owned by Shell came to Scotland in the Port Of Dundee (GBDUN) To be scrapped. She should be there for around 3 months before heading to Turkey to be taken apart and salvaged.

    I would love to see a guided tour of your Mirror including mods and extra gear.

      Have a look at my video "Mirror Mods", which gives quite a few details.

    Very nice. A lovely part of the world. It was a paddle from Oban to the head of Loch Etive and back that encouraged me to get back into dinghy sailing.
    Will we be seeing more videos from this area soon.
    Best wishes,
    Al

      There is some video showing the interior in my video about Poole-Bursledon at about 13 mins in. But you are right, I need to make a proper video.

    Super film thankyou. Looks mildly terrifying though in such a small boat. Can i ask what you would do in the event of a capsize ? Is it a lifeboat job ?

    • @msf60khz

      Thank you James. The boat has a mast head auto inflating float to prevent inversion and has righting lines. All the equipment is tied in. I always reduce sail according to conditions and I hold the mainsheet lightly in my hand so a gust will snatch it from me. I have not capsized yet after 25 years of sailing. David

    David did you trail your boat up for this one

    • @msf60khz
      @msf60khz  Před 5 lety

      Yes, a long way and especially tedious as you get near Croabh due to the indirect roads. But very beautiful.

    How modified is that boat, cos ive watched a number of your videos, and i doubt any other Mirror or any other small dinghy could sail in the conditions you take curlew out in.

    • @msf60khz
      @msf60khz  Před 2 lety

      Thank you Sumo. The boat has a slab reefing system, bilge pumps, pivoting centre board, nav lights, lockers, tent, special rudder, tiller tamer, compass.

      Hi David. I am still doing Mirror cruising and hope to make more video when I have something new to show people. I had a slight setback when my camera went to the bottom of the sea!

      @@msf60khz Thanks for your kind reply. You are a skilled sailor and a good story teller. Any video on your planing besides navigation, your equipment or good practices mixed with pictures or scenes from present or older videos would be interesting. It is this inspiration that drove me to see your videos. Videos of water and boat are nice, but so is all the other stuff related to sailing. Anyhow, I will patiently wait for your next contribution :-)
