  • I took the rods out on a sunny spring day to try and catch a few fish and mix up the techniques a bit to keep it interesting.
Managed to get some nymphing and some swinging streamers with the single spey rod too.
Such a cool way to fish.

I just got back from fishing one of our local rivers. I did pretty well on size 26 green bicolor RS2's. The fish rejected the big stuff ( size 22's ).

The worst habit I had to break with fly fishing was raising the rod. Never do it.
Strip set the hook and keep stripping the line until you’re positive of a good hookup. Then and only then raise the rod to fight the fish using side pressure to quickly land the fish.
Once I stopped with the trout set and always used the strip set, the hookup rate went way up for me.
    Best wishes!

Great skill. Nice to see the river looking so good. I have fished this water and you have to be good with you casting as there are many obstacles to grab your gear. Those fish are really in good condition. I have never taken two rods with me, good tip as it gives many more options for fishing. I love fishing up stream with nymphs. I would have eaten the last fish, just too many years ago since my last good feed. That for the up load. Loved it.

If adding the extra shot to get fly a bit lower in that faster water is not the answer. The one thing I am very aware of, is that fish take on a change when they leave home to go on holiday, and there mouths become softer for a short while. Something to do with water change. We have this over here with Salmon, Sea trout and stock fish. Great video again Alex. Shaun UK.
