Welcome to Osaka, Japan! It's our first time ever to Japan and we can't wait to explore Osaka. In this video we make our way around this huge city, we have a hard time using public transit in Japan for the first time but we still manage to visit some key locations around the city. We start off at the beautiful Nakanoshima Park where the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. We then head to Osaka Castle and late take public transit to Dotonbori. Here we walk around and stop for dumplings (gyoza) and highball at Gyozaoh! Dotonbori (goo.gl/maps/BD3X5c8txMWHPjF46).
We later head back to our hotel where we give you tour of our very small room. Book our hotel (Royal Park Canvas Osaka Kitahama) here: www.booking.com/hotel/jp/za-r...

Jon is positively breathtaking, it’s one of the most amazing countries around. One place I really would love to be right now is Japan, it’s so clean and the food is just amazing 😍
So true! Have you ever been Angie? - Anna
@@DelightfulTravellers No I haven't Anna but a friend pf mine is in Osaka now and he said its just fabulous.
“The moral of the story is this: don’t let all that get you down.” Indeed, this can be applied to complex public transit systems…to travel…or to life, really. Because, from what I’ve seen of Japan so far, it’s definitely gonna be worth it 🇯🇵 🤩.
Yes Coleen! So true. We hope you can visit this place some day - Anna
Yay!! So excited for you guys, Japan is high on our list too. Can’t wait to see everything y’all get up too! 🫶🏼
Hey guys! You would both luv this place that's for sure. Your Mexico videos are making us so hungry! We should try to cross paths travelling 😀- Trevor
@@DelightfulTravellers yes, we would love that!
You made it! I remember a few years ago asking if you would ever go to Japan. You said it was high on the bucket list and one day it will happen. And here you are! I was there in 2003 and 2010. Excited for this series! 😊🇯🇵🍣
Here we are! There should be a few more videos on the way 🤗 - Anna
Arigato gozaimasu (aka formal thank you ) + lots of bowing will go a long way 😊😊😊. My current favourite country!!! Enjoy!!! Love your content and always support my fellow Canadian 🍁🍁🍁
Awe thank you... this country is quickly becoming one of our favs too - Anna
Another great video! I appreciate your honesty. As a soon-to-be full time traveler I like getting both sides of the story. Japan looks so incredible and I’m looking forward very much to all your videos there!
You’ll have to visit this place Lorrie! It’s great 👍 - Trevor
@@DelightfulTravellers I’m certainly going to! You have enticed me to put it on our list. 😉
Lots of great info Trevor and Anna, thanks!
🤗
Congratulations on country #50!!🎉
Yes,we planned most of our Europe trip based on your videos (thank you!❤)
Your honesty is much appreciated, I’ve never heard from other CZcamsrs their experience at airport, metro etc. Excellent sharing, I’ve only been in Tokyo airport for a transfer.
Looking forward to the next videos!! ~Cara 😊
Awe thanks guys! Glad you find these videos so helpful 🥰 Country #50 still seems wild to us - Anna
Brilliant video! Looking forward to the foodie one 🥰
Can’t wait to share that next! 😃 - Trevor
Enjoyable video! You guys rock!

Thanks for your honesty…. Fascinating video
😊🤗
I`ve met you in Akasaka mitsuke, Tokyo, at Itamae Sushi, I`m Juan, the Mexican worker that greet you at the end of your dinner with us, your videos are very cool, I have subscribed and some of the Itamae sushi staff did too, so you have new followers from your recent visit to tokyo!! good luck 👍
Oh wow... Juan... it was so nice to meet you! 😀You made us feel right at home that day and most of all... miss Mexico - Trevor
@@DelightfulTravellers well amigo, keep making this very nice videos and soon you will plan a trip through all America next time, of course, starting in Mexico, I have like all videos I have seen, you guys are great
We are hoping to hit up osaka in the fall! Looking forward to the videos.
You guys will luv it! It’s such a fun city 👍 - Trevor
The charm of Japan is the night walk. It is not safe in the West, but in Japan it is safe for a woman to walk alone at night with her. If you take a walk at night, you will be able to enjoy the charm of Japan.✨
Congratulations on number 50! It looks so pretty being there in spring with all the cherry blossoms out. When we went to Japan it was just before cherry blossom season and we kept just missing the blossoms as we moved north through the country. We got a bit lost with the train line in Osaka as well. The rest of the country is less confusing.
So good to know you guys got a bit lost as well. Especially knowing you're seasoned travellers. We're really digging this place either way 😀 - Trevor
@@DelightfulTravellers we thought it was just us having a bad sense of direction until we saw your video 😅
@@BucketListTravellers haha.. nope we were lost
Thanks for the ending commentary. Very helpful.
So glad you found it helpful - Trevor
Maybe your first-time experience in an airport might have been easier if you went to Tokyo airport! Most foreign travelers go to Tokyo which is way more efficient than Osaka. If you want hot drinks on the vending machine, there are red colors under the drinks, blue for cold.
The train system in Japan is excellent….you just need to do some research to figure it out! Love 🇯🇵
We got it all sorted now... but it was quite the whirlwind to figure out - Anna
@@inaustralia7 it’s June and you’re going in December.. We had a few weeks to prepare (while travelling, working, filming videos on other locations and countries, editing said videos, etc).
Sounds like our lives and travel lifestyles aren’t really comparable. Non-the-less hopefully you’ll enjoy Japan as much as we did - Anna
Been living in Japan for 15years, it took some time for me to get used to living here. Indeed, the trains were confusing at first, but now no problems at all. Yep, that card helps heaps. I don't like highball, but love lemon sour which is a sake with carbonated water and lemon juice.
That little card solved all of our problems. Now we need to try that sour drink 😅 - Trevor
Great honest vlog.😀
🤗
日本に来て下さって有難う御座います😊
I’ve definitely heard that Japan is one of the more difficult places to navigate for foreigners. I’m excited to see what comes next, especially the food. Hope you guys enjoyed your time there!😊
It's so tricky to navigate Matty but it's so worth it! Lots more on the way from Japan soon 🤙 - Trevor
Oh u r in osaka

14:29 to be fair, nobody "buys tickets" anymore. What they don't tell you: when you arrive you can get a free card for Osaka (different one for Tokyo) that is like a pre-paid debit card (these cards are given out at the train station terminals at the same location you buy the ticket from). Most rides are going to be between $2 and $6 USD. Once you have the card and load a little money on it, you simply follow the signs for which stations/platform you want to go. The confusion most first time travelers find in Japan (mostly in Osaka and Tokyo) is from the fact there is 1000x ways to get to any destination. In fact some spots might have up to 5 or 6 different train platform exits within a stones throw! So don't ask for help in trying to go somewhere with your ticket.... instead ask "How would YOU goto XYZ." When doing so, you will take all the pressure off the person you are talking to who might be unfamiliar with the route you are attempting.
Off there in August been twice before love it
We’re so loving it here so far! 😊- Anna
As you know, I’m here just to check how good is the street food. And somebody said, at those 7-eleven in Japan is the best food???. Enjoy.
Lots of food coming up in the next vlog! - Trevor
I always enjoy watching you both. Thank you for your information, content and fun. Helpful tips about the shots.
I personally wouldn’t visit a place that still requires a shot that doesn’t prevent anything. I’m glad to know this, possibly they have a “test “ as an option, but I’m not happy when two people come into contact with an infected person, one has had one shot two years ago, the other has had all of the shots and both get Covid… then how good is the shot?
Happy to see you both happy and enjoying a new adventure!
Happy 50th country !!!
The Toilets in Japan!! Omg! You know how many times I left the toilet without flashing?! My daughter then would say (4 yo) , “mom lets find the flash button before doing her business!:)” in some places there is no big sign FLASH, and impossible to find it! I swear!!
Very interesting!Welcome to my country Japan!I think changing trains are much easier in Tokyo, as most stations are linked and you can use your ICOCA card there as well.
Awesome that you are in Japan. I suspect there would be English signage in Tokyo? I know in Seoul they have English signage in the subways. Look forward to more of this series!! Would have loved to see more of the temples and inside of the castle!
Good thing to know about the trains in Japan! Looking forward to the food video!
Once you figure out how to get on them they are great 😂- Trevor
Your comments about the subway/train travel brought to mind a time when I went to DC to pickup my son who was interning there. We went to take a subway from the hotel area to the museums. I was trying to figure out the tickets, which track to go to, and just scratching my head trying to figure it all out. Luckily my boy says, "Dad, I got this" and got us to the destination. LOL. I'd have been lost wo his help. Always good to ask if you don't know..
haha nice.. picture all that, but with no English 🤣 PS: It was all worth it for us - Trevor
@@DelightfulTravellers No thanks, dealing with it in english was bad enough. Love you guys. Try and watch all your vids.
Hope you go to kyoto. We loved it there.
Don't think we'll make it there this time! We heard there's tons of tourists there (because the country recently opened) - Trevor
Hi guys... lovely to see both of you travelling to Japan, tbh..the Metro can be overwhelming because they have so many lines and run by different company unlike Thailand is run by 1company. I've been to Japan dozens of time & yet each time i get confused with the subway on which direction to go and there's so many platforms in few stories of elevators. Lots of walking for sure. It's def not easy for first timer. Wait till u get to Tokyo Shinjuku & Shibuya station and there's so many people in the station.. you need to stick to each other closely otherwise you could lose one another within the crowds in the station...😅Take care guys👋☺️Oh..btw, there's also lots of stairs to climb up & down to get to another platform for transfers as well in some rail station which i hate the most especially when carrying heavy luggage, some has no lifts...😢railways there has been established for years/ages hence some are built in old fashion rail stations.
We can't wait for Tokyo! Thanks for watching 🤗 - Anna
what a wonderful country!
50 countries! Wow! Congratulations. 🎉. Beautiful cherry blossoms! Enjoy
We still can’t believe this is country number 50! - Anna
Hi Delightful Travellers. Great video as always 😊 I appreciate your hard work and I support my fellow Canucks😊 My neighbors, just came back from a cruise to Japan. They told me that it is an incredibly clean country. They said they could not see any garbage bins in public and no trash littered on the ground. Apparently Japanese people keep their garbage with themselves and dispose of it once they get home. I can’t wait to see more videos of this amazing place.😊😊
Hey BB! 🥰 Thanks so much for your kind words. Sounds like you enjoyed Japan as much as we do - Anna
try limousine bus next time to get to downtown from the airport which u can get ticket at the airport counter insted of training guys.. i always do that, it is much easier.😊
the icoca card should be the first thing you purchase and you wouldn’t have had those transit and ticket problems. That’s why most tourists find it easy.
Haha thks i knew these kinichiwa/sayonara/arigato… but ttly forgot! I just booked a cheap flight with stopover in Tokyo bc covid regs have dropped 👌
Like before seen video...❤❤❤ greetings from Greece
👍
Don't you have a JR Railpass? You can use most trains en metros on the JR line. So easy to use. You say that you don't want to complain, but honestly you do. Don you prepare yourself when you travel to a country?
Don’t you prepare yourself when you travel to a country? The answer is as much as we can but it’s not like we take one or two “vacations” per year and have loads of time to prep and research for months in advance. We’re typically planning current and future travel at one time, filming videos, editing videos already filmed, actually travelling, running a web design company and then trying to take a day off here and there to enjoy ourselves once in awhile. In the very brief time we had to research Japan transportation we read that you have to have a JR pass shipped to your home address in advance (that may have changed now), we also would have had to plan all of our travels in advance to figure out if the expensive cost of a pass would be worth it (we never planned it out but there’s a good chance we would have spent more on a pass). At the same time, we’ve watched some videos of people with a JR Pass and things weren’t going that smoothly so apparently that doesn’t solve all the problems.
@@DelightfulTravellers the scariest and most delusional out of them all are the life long foreigner anime fans living in Japan. They brag and toast Japan has the best of everything from food to Publix transportation etc then the moment someone speaks the truth about Japan the foreigners in Japan go on an attack excuses after excuses etc etc it's scary. It's known worldwide the scariest and most delusional foreigners all end up living in Japan.
So true. All the system in Japan wasn’t built for the tourists, everything is for people living here. If you complain, simple, don’t come back😊 I mean any country doesn’t want you to come if you complain like this in public.
I hope u can visit hakone
Looks wonderful! Regarding entrance, I believe they are opening fully in May, meaning no vaccination or tests needed?
Oh so good to know! - Trevor
@@DelightfulTravellers We kept our eyes open for that info, since our teen son really wants to go to Tokyo , he loves the Japanese manga and anime😀time to start saving up😅not cheap all the way from Sweden.
It took me a day to figure out the train system in Japan, you’re right it is so frustating at first.
Also, most middle age or elderly persons don’t speak english, so you might wanna ask teenagers for help or directions.
The rooms in Japan are so small lol, cause they value privacy and efficiency.
Glad we're not the only ones. We luv Japan either way! We're having a blast 😀- Trevor

So we are in Tokyo stayed there for couple nights on our wy back to U.S i mean i love japan in general people are nice i felt very safe but it is stinky difficult to communicate with the japanese - people in the airport amd hotels can speak english but thats about it majority of them arent speaking english. We went to tour mt fuji its awesome.
Hey Anna and Trevor we'll I actually live in Japan and you can just call that card an ic card for short, in Tokyo they use suica cards with are the same as that card Anna was holding
We just been there i have to use a translation to communicate to japanese . We are in tokyo
Same! 😅 - Anna
In Greek🇬🇷 language we use the Japanese🇯🇵 word SAYIONARA, but we mean the slipper for the beach 🏝️☀️
2 Thumbs up 👍 👍
Yes we kinda have an anxiety while we are in the train whether or not we are heading the right place so i got this idea to get my translation, type what i wanna ask to the japanese next to me ( theyre nice ) show her/him what i type and it wrks . Just not to talk loud inside the train its a no no in japan 😂
I thought the 3p's of travelling was , make sure you are PREPARED, Don't PANIC when things go wrong & Give yourself some PEACE of Mind
You didn't use IC card, such as Suica or Pasmo to get around in major cities of Japan? You buy the card and you can travel from any railroad station to another without buying tickets.

Osaka is the second largest metropolis in Japan. Although the population is third.
Osaka only developed around downtown area. 95% of Osaka is rural low density slim residential neighborhoods. Similar to all Japanese cities.
@@JENNYLEEWORLD Since Osaka used to be the capital of Japan, it had a larger population than Tokyo. After the emperor moved from Kyoto to Tokyo, the Japanese government invested a large amount of taxpayers' money to develop Tokyo, while Osaka fell into decline by restricting the height of buildings. That's why most skyscrapers in Tokyo were built by companies in Osaka and Kansai. 70% of large Japanese companies are Kansai companies. That's why there are many large company buildings, but due to government harassment, only buildings up to 100m can be built and they are low.The economy is undoubtedly the second largest in Japan. If you say Osaka is the countryside, Yokohama will be the countryside too! There is nothing in the residential area. Because it is in the countryside like Ome city, Fussa city and Kiyose city in Tokyo. If you don't know Tokyo, stop saying

I'm confused by your comments about entering Japan. Proof of covid vaccination requirements ended on April 29. And I hope you're not visiting Japan without visiting Kyoto? That would be a crime.
Why are you confused? The cherry blossoms were out and we said it was in early April when we filmed. Glad to hear the requirements have ended 😊
You two are awesome for covering the confusing (and imo messy) rail line situation! Not enough travelers cover this is an explicitly clear way the way you guys did. So, thank you!
Imo, makes no sense why anyone would let 3-4 different corporations build railways in the same area, and each kiosk has their distinct branding. I had a nightmare situation when I went to Tokyo in 2018. On my way back to Busan, hopped on the same Narita rail that brought me to Tokyo station, and a ticketing agent who spoke zero English told me "no, no, back Tokyo station, you go", I was so confused why she was sending me back. I got off in the middle of the countryside and went back to Tokyo station, only to find out I was on the correct rail. I ended up missing my flight back with standby of 5 days! I was SO angry at the ticketing agent and how illogically planned their rail system was.
Oh no... that sounds terrible JJ. Sorry that happened to you. It's a super confusing system that's for sure - Trevor

I don't want to go to Japan. I think Korea or I should say South Korea, Thailand and the Philippines. One of those would be better to travel to. Thank you but I'm waiting what's up next doc?
Japanese public transportation is extremely old and outdated. In Tokyo it's even more confusing and complicated for no reason. Japanese cities rely mainly above ground train rails and stations. Cars are not as popular than trains. Almost everything good about Japan comes from delusional anime fans spreading fake lies about Japan such as having the best public transportation in the world lol
Lol even if you spoke perfect Japanese the most you'll get out of an average Japanese person is just a single word and repeated over and over. Japanese people just repeat the same words over and over lol
