What I really liked about Michelle Kwan was the way she conducted herself. Very positive, and honest at the same time...and her skating was ethereal. I wish more people were like her.
Really enjoyed her.....
Michelle kwan finished no lower than 3rd place between 1995~2004, she became a artist and a legend.
I miss these Lori N. programs. Every phrase of the music listened to and accounted for.

When she skated like this-ethereal, graceful, sophisticated, unbothered, and elegant-she was literally unbeatable. At the two Olympic Games where she placed 1st after the short program, however, she would implode during the long program-falling from grace; being out of the zone. Frank Carroll described it best: "She would over-analyze competing at the Olympics. Instead of skating in her usual easy-going, let-go manner, she made the idea of winning the Olympic gold medal too much of a big deal."
People love Michelle, People hope she win , People know she could do it.......so Michelle pushed herself too much.
However, Michelle was robbed and Tara was overrated at the 1998 Olympics. Michelle's performance was classic and beautiful. Tara's Disney Cartoon program had no artistry more than Peter Pan in the Neverland which undeserved the Olympics gold.
Michelle did not implode at the 98 Olympics.
What an ignorant comment, she did not "implode" at the 1998 Olympics. Even in 2002, her program was not that bad and she managed to still land a good number of triples.

In 97 seeing Tara come along with the same fearless conviction I believe really threw Michelle off her kilter.
You really have to be arrogant to an extent to think you're unbeatable and Michelle saw that quality in Tara. She was fearless.
It really took an entire year for Michelle to get past that.
Tara really got under Michelle's skin.
Tara had a kid's body and weight so easier to jump, nothing more. Her performance just like a kid, she should go to the kid's Olympics. Tara couldn't stop to grow up and everything changed.
Tara had no pressure because no one supports Tara would be the winner. Everyone surprised what happened at the 1998 Olympics and Michelle was robbed.
The ISU raised the age limit to 17 NOW, which means Tara Lipinski didn't deserve to win and she should go to the kid's Olympics.
Tara skated safe because she never tried to be a artist on ice like Michelle. Tara skated like a happy puppy running in the park.
@@TT-ee4qp Even if Tara did more difficult jumps, she frequently underrotated her 3-3s and majorly flutzed. With these built in deductions she doesn't even necessarily deserve higher tech marks than Kwan.
Beautiful skating but this music is annoyingly one note. I wish it had broken and gone more dramatic in the middle. It is hard to keep speed when the music plods along.
With the passing of 25 years its very clear she lacked the grace and delicacy of Kristi Yamaguch and Oksana Baiul who were the preceding Olympic champions
Gorgeous. Perfection. Worlds above anything we've seen at a major competition since CoP ruined the sport.

Maybe, if she didn't have any injuries. But still she performed better than other figure skaters. Other figure skaters have consistency problems.

Her solid foundation created a lot of opportunities for other American skaters ... to even surpass her each Olympics. Behind each gold Olympic during those years ... was Michael Kwan.
Michelle kwan became a ledge, a artist. Some people deserved the Olympics gold but never got it with bad lucky like Michelle, some people didn't deserve the Olympics gold and got it like......

I think something was hard in her family - pressure or something. Tara, Kristi had super happy supportive families and such joy. Anyway hope all these yrs later, and even divorced, I hope she is so happy ..
It's kinda' annoying that the commentators keep talking & showing clips while they're announcing her scores. They need to stop as soon as they're announced.
Yeah. The time to show clips is before the scores are announced, not during.
The criticism that I have is that I wished she would done another type of 3/3 instead of the 3toe/3toe. I think she would have more credit I believe and she could have put the 3toe at the end if she didn't make it.
20 years ago though. Ladies didn't pump out the triple-triples quite like they do today. The technical side of skating is always increasing. But yeah, nowadays when I watch skating I think to myself "is that all you got?" when I see a 3T-3T.

@@B___T985 Michelle had triple triple combo since 1995 ~ 2004 ( not every time ) , which means her technique was stable and better than the other skaters like Tara or Sarah had triple triple combo just for 2~ 3 years. （∩▽∩）And Tara's technique was overrated, under the new system, Tara's incorrect triple triple combo and lower jumps wouldn't get marks.

Michelle was robbed at 1998 Olympics, Tara didn't really make a correct 3+3. Michelle's artistry and technique were better than Tara. Enjoy it.
@@TT-ee4qp I wouldn't say Michelle was "robbed", but the coin could've flip on any side. Tara's "style" was childish and poor (with 2022 eyes), yet Kwan's was more "mature" and atemporal. On technical content, Tara clearly out jumped Kwan, even if her technique was "flawed", Kwan's jumps and spins were never nothing to write about and she was very consistent, but she also repeated herself season after season with the easiest of contents (compared to her competition).

@@piznoctsauo8141 Less is more, Michelle's artistry got the most 6.0 ( 57 times ) in the figure skating history.....with her jumps and spins . If you could do it better, maybe you would get the most 6.0 because you.....not easiest of ....Lol
