  • Während der Alpenbildung wurden Gesteinspakete zum Teil in grosse Tiefen versenkt und dort metamorph umgewandelt. Diese alpine Metamorphose werden wir uns in diesem Video anschauen.

It would be absolutely wonderful to add an excursion of nearby Alpe Sponda/PIzza Forno to discuss the Kyanit-Staurolit metamorphism. Also, what are the rock types in the layers of the great fold at Campolungo pass, and which layers are older/younger? And, how many phases of deformation took place to create the structure we can see today?

Hi, maybe we can cover Alpe Sponda another time - at the moment there are no videos planned on alpine geology... next we will produce a new video series on magmatism. but this will take some time;)
regarding your questions: the fold is mainly made of dolomite marble and tremolite/phlogopite-bearing dolomite marble. regarding the phases of deformation I cannot really help you. I am no expert on that. However, you can check the explanations to the geological map of Campolungo. You can find them here: shop.swisstopo.admin.ch/de/karten/geologische-karten/erlaeuterungen-zum-geologischen-atlas-der-schweiz-25000
just search for "1252" and then download the "1252 Ambrì-Piotta" file. It is available in German or Italian. Hope this helps!
