@thenewsminute, that officer / minister arguing that it is moral liability of firms taking subsidized lands / services / tax-exemptions to prefer local candidates ... but all firms may not take subsidized or free resources ... it is to be asked what about them, their flexibility and expectations.

If outsiders people keep fighting like this , coming and settling here , locals here will raise price of each and everything , especially rents so that no would be able to afford it .
Government interference in the private sector would send us back to license raj. The bill being discussed here, if it comes into effect would gradually lead to widespread desertion of companies from Bangalore and with it the migration of people employed in the sector (and any other related sectors). Considering that IT accounts for 25% percent of the state's GDP, it means that there will be an impact on the state's fiscal health. This would also stagger further growth prospects as the state will neither be seen as investor friendly nor would it be particularly favourable to set up industries here.
But sure you would have lower rent and ample water. In fact the city would be devalued, and there would be a total collapse of the real estate sector that currently thrives in Bangalore, leading to massive wealth erosion. Keep in mind that these problems largely arise from shoddy urban planning practices put in place by inept and corrupt state departments. For ex, just by improving public transport in the city we decrease peak rent prices as it disperses the population evenly (this is already happening in places like Whitefield where the metro line was extended to recently). These problems are at least being picked up currently precisely because of the migration of people and the widespread economic activity in the city. These voices would go away with this bill, leading to these problems being ignored rather than being picked up and solved.
We take away one of the main reasons that makes Bengaluru attractive, flexibility for people to move and settle in the city. Enacting this bill would reduce Bengaluru to a ghost town, a place with many buildings but not many people. Sure this will eliminate any 'outsiders' staying in the city because most of them will move on. If we're fine with that consequence then sure this is a good bill.
Collectively as a group of citizens we need to objectively think about issues rather than thoughtlessly agreeing to whatever these leaders say. Just this exercise itself will make us smarter and the country better.
The actual issue is
" Groupism".
People who come from other states prefer people from their respective states over others, locals get sidelined because of this.
I worked under a North Indian senior manager in Bangalore who brought nearly 50 plus fresh graduates from Delhi for jobs that did not require any specific skill.
He sarcastically said localites were not good enough to be recruited.
Casteism, regionalism and communalism are real issues in the corporate world.
Where this groupism doesn't exist? Kannadis don't do groupism? On the name of language the way you people vandalise your own spaces that is perfect?
same old cheap populist endeavour. Are locals of Karnataka cannot compete with the rest of India? Why are these cheap politicians trying to divide India in the name of populist measures? Are they credible enough to think beyond the quota system?
Its not about competition its to control migration crisis , bangalore has had over 60 percent migrant population from past ten years it has grown , if this continues then wat will people who live here do? We do welcome people but remeber we live here of course we would require a first prefrence , also karnataka has an equally talented community, all these companies have grown in 90 using local population and in recent times they dont see those stats because they just need people who work for less money.

Absolutely, Kannadigas deserve to be prioritized for jobs in their own state. It’s appalling that some oppose this bill. The Karnataka State Employment of Local Candidates Bill is not about charity; it’s about justice and equity for the people of Karnataka. For too long, locals have been sidelined in their own land, while outsiders benefit from the state's resources and opportunities. This reservation ensures that Kannadigas get their rightful share in the economic growth of Karnataka. Those who oppose this bill are essentially advocating for the continued marginalization of locals, which is utterly unacceptable. This legislation is a necessary step toward correcting this imbalance and fostering inclusive growth.
