    I just bought 4 with a tapping head along with an extra body and silicon elbow since I have many 1881 universal disconnects. This size allows me to fit an extra 3 of these with 1 corny and an all rounder into my keezer. These are a perfect size for me to pressure transfer to when I want to brew and need my pressure fermentor/unitank without wasting the volume of CO2 to move to a corny. It took me seconds to see the utility of these once I discovered them and ordered that day.

Two will be dedicated for beer but the other one is for carbonated water. These are narrow enough that it can fit on my fridge door alongside a co2 tank.

    These are absolutely game changing kegs and I’ve been after some for quite a while now but they are impossible to get in Ireland. They are available in Kegland’s Aliexpress store but they charge €198.08 delivery! Now I know that Kegland does this to protect retailers which is perfectly fine but perhaps they should reconsider for those of us who live in countries that have poor Kegland distribution. Of course we could buy them from mainland Europe but the shipping cost kills us every time….

    I just bought two of them - They would be ideal for lagering beer for a couple of weeks in my kegerator. I use a Kegland Series X kegerator, and I am fairly sure that I could fit 9 of them inside (rotated as needed over time). I normally make 2.5-gallon batches, as I can't lift a full fermenter for a 5-gallon batch. I have adjusted my Beersmith batch size in a test profile to 1.9 gallons - we will see how the new (smaller) batches work out. FWIW, I brew every Saturday (rain or shine) indoors on a countertop...

  • @jasongarland3165
    @jasongarland3165 Před rokem +1

    I could use several of these. This looks to be a much more cost-effective solution for serving small batches than traditional stainless kegs.

  • @babettes_yeast

  • @CascadesHomebrew
    @CascadesHomebrew Před rokem +4

    I am looking forward the the 4L versions. Kegland said they expected to start rolling those out around the first of 2023. For me, the 4L size will be great for kegging 1 gallon batches or for taking along beer to a event. My big question is lifespan. If you have to replace them every few years, then the cost savings can quickly disappear. I do love this 8L size though. I have several of the 10L Torpedo kegs and love doing either small batches or split batches. Thanks for the review!

    • @DavidHeathHomebrew
      @DavidHeathHomebrew  Před rokem +1

      I agree totally. Ive got similar but far less protective 5L PET kegs that are at least 7 years old and are still going strong after much use. I often use these for test batches. The 4L from KL will replace them

    Great video! I recently picked up one of these and it worked great for the 1 gallon dry hopped cider I made. My only feedback is that for beer I typically brew 3 gallon(12L) batches so this might be a bit small. I would really like if they made these in 12L. I think my plan is going to be to carbonate it a standard keg with a carb-stone lid, transfer to the Oxebar and then bottle remaining beer.

    This looks fantastic. Waiting for it to come to India! Hopefully soon. Only question I had when using it in the vertical mode, when the amount of beer reduces, will it become too top-heavy (resulting in it falling / becoming unstable) seeing that the body of the bottle itself is very light, and the tapping head and the gas / liquid lines will not have enough weight to counterbalance? Thank you.

I have not invested in any keg system yet, I only have a 5 Gallon pressure barrel to serve real ales but nothing on the pressurrised side of things to serve lagers, and other highly carbonated styles. My question is: what equipment do I need to serve the beer from the beer line? And same question to pressure CO2 in it?

    How much luck have people had serving it laying down in the regular fridge? It tends to roll all over the fridge unless you make little feet / doorstops for them. I also felt I needed to remove the pressure release valve and replace it with just a soda bottle cap as that can leak when the top is filled since it is on its side.

I have 3 Oxebar gegs and ONE tapping head with 3 spare caps i cold crash and decant from a pressurised fermenter into the 3 Oxebar kegs. can I just seal with the 3 bottle caps and when I want to dispense open, insert tapping assembly, repressurise with gas and serve ?

    • @DavidHeathHomebrew
      @DavidHeathHomebrew  Před 8 měsíci +1

      If you fill them to the brim and then cap then you should be ok for shorter periods but ultimately if I am filling then I would have a tapping head on each for oxygen purging to maximise the beers life.

  • @grahamhawes7089

    If these could be sold with a cheap regulator for disposable CO2 cartridges, this could be a fun way to give a gallon or two of beer to a friend so they can enjoy your beer on-tap in their own fridge. Or for bringing to events.
    The regulator could be set from the factory to a reasonable serving pressure, removing adjustability to keep costs down.
    I currently use a 2.5gal Torpedo keg for events, but filling it requires constant attention to avoid getting liquid in my spunding valve, and because it is opaque, I have to use a scale. These are transparent!

    I have an oxebar keg and the issues i'm seeing is that the keg doesn't do a great job at holding pressure. even when all the fittings are securely tightened and checked with star san for leaks. Not sure if CO2 if diffusing out through the plastic or the disconnects. Curious if you've come across this issue and i'm not sure Id be happy serving from this keg if its slowly losing CO2, tank would be gone quickly. at least would be good for bottling vessel
