    I just want to say that I'm really impressed with how thorough this video was. I'm playing with the idea of bar-end mirrors to go with a new handlebar because my bike also has welded-in threaded plugs on the stock handlebar, and I haven't found much for weights that appeal to me with expander plugs. Out of curiosity, did you ever try them so they were oriented over the handlebar instead of sticking out and adding width?

    • @sstressfl
      @sstressfl  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you for the encouraging words :) I tried them briefly (not bolted) and decided two things.... I did not like that they were ~2" above my hands. Way too easy to hit/get in the way of safe hand movement. Also, when pointed inward you see your arm reflected back at you. They need some outward distance to work well.

    Great video. I have the exact same mirrors on my CB500F. No vibrations , as much view as the stock mirrors. I’m toying with the idea of putting them under the bars rather than over so I can have them point inwards and not have my elbow in the way for better filtering / lane splitting though

    • @sstressfl
      @sstressfl  Před 2 lety

      They are a great mirror for the cost. I can see how lower solves the elbow issue (mine is very minimal unlike the stock mirrors that were almost entirely blocked by my shoulder/arm) but would be worried about them being blocked by your forearm (maybe?). If you try it, would be interested in hearing how you like it or dont like it.

    • @sstressfl
      @sstressfl  Před 6 měsíci +1

      If you’re using rubber insulated bar ends, no. You’ll want to mount mirrors first. If you’re using solid weights then yes. But then it will come down to the aesthetic 👍

  • @marka6487
    @marka6487 Před 2 lety

    I don't know if you can move the throttle and clutch but you can mount these mirrors over the handlebars rather than inside. You just use one of the spacers inside the loop end of the mirror (if needed) and tighten that onto the end of the handlebar instead of using the inner expanding clamp. That's how mine are mounted as I have large handlebars. I have the same ones as in this video (for an e-bike) but recently changed them for a larger set that has clear glass instead of blue, still glare resistant but easier to see with. The old ones look tiny in comparison. Only problem is that the balls of the new set are near impossible to move, something another Amazon customer complained about before returning. I wonder if I got his return?

    • @sstressfl
      @sstressfl  Před 2 lety

      I got ‘em working great! Seems like it would be easier right? Lol glad you found a set that work for you 👍😎 other than the balls… maybe try some wd40? Wiggle em around to see if you can get them to loosen up?

      @@sstressfl I was going to return them but then I thought that if I can get them in the right position, at least I will never have to worry about them moving. I tried bar end mirrors on bike, but didn’t like that I had to move my eyes further down to see behind me. I commuted in crazy traffic, so that extra amount of effort and time it took to look down felt too dangerous. I went back to the ugly stock mirrors because they were much more functional.

      I thought I’d experience the same thing. And now I’ve done both country and city riding on the gsxs750 and from a functional standpoint the mirrors made no difference in ease of use. If anything the bar end mirrors have given me a more full view since they don’t get cut off by my elbows like the stock mirrors. I used to have to move my body to see. Now I just glance.

I just had a quick look at my bike, and both the left, and the right have the rubber "closed off", because it's one whole thing, e.g. I would need to cut the rubber off, or get someone to do it rather. I don’t understand what you’re describing. Do you mean when you turn the bars it pulls the throttle?

    I don’t like my bar end mirrors because they break the first time my bike goes down. Just not acceptable.

      Wow! That’s too bad. In Vermont a motorcycle is required to have 1 mirror. No other requirements or legal definitions.

      It is the same in Slovenia, basically you must be careful when buying them so that they are legal. I have some chinese ones now but I did some research and have ordered these ones (but I have to wait for another month for stock): www.motogadget.com/shop/en/m-view-pace.html
