Sonic Generations is an A to S tier game IMO, right up there with Mania for diamonds in the roughness of the 2010s. Sure, lots of reliance on nostalgia, but still plenty of new bits and fun to be found.

24:47 There's actually a mod called Unleashed Project: The complete addon, which makes the stages almost identical to their unleashed counterparts + Physics and other neat changes.

A chuckle was had at "Should have been Griffith", a bit of a generational gap there. I've never seen anyone from my time say they prefer that voice! No disrespect, of course.
I still really like Gens. Its a solid A tier game and with mods it can be AMAZING!
Your wish of playing as Shadow in Generations legitimately is being fulfilled by Sonic X Shadow Generations!
Well it has a shadow story but i dont think shadow is playable in the sonic stages but technically yeah

0:05 Nah, mate. Generations may be an excellent game, a 9/10 for sure (only hampered by the final boss) but it ain't a 3D Sonic game. It's like 65% 2D.

sonic generations came out before i was born but its one of the best games ever
If I were to recommend some other mods myself, I would recommended:
-Real Tails/Shadow/Silver Character mods, made by the same guy as the Knuckles one, I specifically recommend Silver's, because they've made enough changes to make it feel as if Silver did have a boost game. And, to note, Tails will be getting an update that'll add a Classic Tails.
-Sonic 06 Experience and STH06 Project: just worth experiencing for the novelty alone just to see how Sonic 06 would work in Gens. Engine.
-Classic Sonic Improvement: a mod that changes and absolutely is essential to play as Classic Sonic in Generations. It not only improves the physics, but adds the Peel-Out and the Drop-dash. It allows to use a new model and improved model, but also allows you to use custom skins for Classic Sonic!
-Unleashed Restorations, just to restore little things that were cut from Unleashed. Fully recommened to use it with the HUD mod, the Unleashed Project: Complete Add on and one of the Unleashed Sonic mods by Master Dex (which also includes Unleashed's physics). You can even get a mod to have Chip as a companion with the Chip Returns mod!
-Proto's Gameplay Overhaul for an incredibly flexible and controllable Modern Sonic
-Also, I recommend checking out the Colors Project, a mod project similar to the Unleashed one, but for Colors: currently, it's in a demo stage, with Tropical Resort only available, but I recommend it regardless because it just greater than the All in One mod.
And, I don't know if you already had done this but it is essential you get the BetterFX and Direct 9Ex/11 mods just to get a better experience performance wise. I'm just saying since I didn't see you putting it down below.

If you like legacy sonic, you should try customizable sonic. Its basically costumes for sonic from all of his previous adventures
I actually have recently tried that mod and it’s AMAZING
It's ok. I never played a Sonic mod either. I think. Although I remember playing a version of SA2 where the voice over problem is fixed, and the character models are updated to modern standards. So yea I played one Sonic mod.
And power wise, Hyper Sonic is leagues above Ultra Instinct. Hyper Sonic is (potenchally) outerversal in power. A level no Dragon Ball character will ever reach.

Why should a console owner go through the trouble of buying a PC just to add mods to a game, when we can just play Tears of the Kingdom instead? Now that's a game filled with HOURS of fun, and the best part is, no need for stupid mods and a PC, all it takes is patience, skill and creativity to have fun playing it.
