Squirrel Removal in a Nutshell

  • As a professional wildlife controller I have been fine tuning my squirrel removal method in Bristol Tn. for several years now and I have it down to a science. Lots of wildlife controllers like to trap inside the attic to remove squirrels. I have developed a process that forces the squirrel to get out on its own. This saves leaving baby squirrels (or adult squirrels) in the attic to die. I run a trap on the entrance to make sure the squirrel is out, but this is just a failsafe. See how it is done.

Wolf or bear piss. Probably cat piss would do it too. Just google it.

I got excited when I saw Bristol until I saw it was Bristol Tennessee. Well I'm ready to tackle this problem myself. I did it five years ago but I'm five years older now haha it's a lengthy process we have to stay focused to make sure they're out and trapped and seal things up with Mesh etcetera and repair everything. I wish I knew a little bit more about that bottle of stuff you used. Thank you so much for a great video

I hope to have that coming soon. It is not so much what it is but how you use it.

Great, informative video. Would putting a layer of hardware cloth across the wood patch, maybe also wrapping it around the edges 0:02 give extra protection against the squirrels chewing back through it? Just a thought.

Generally speaking, squirrels don't go into attics much once temperatures become uncomfortably high there. That should start to happen soon. If you know where the squirrels are getting into the attic, you can lightly stuff some paper into the entrance and see if it gets pushed out. That is a simple way to see if you have any activity in an entrance. However, squirrels will go around the house to another entrance if there is one.

Thanks Pat, this is helpful. Have you ever seen a situation where squirrels get into a crawlspace, and then go up inside the walls to the second floor? I think that's what's happened to us. I've inspected the soffits and eves and roof, and there are absolutely no holes or weird little nooks for them to get into.

I think that is a definite possibility. Squirrel will fit easily in the space inside of a wall. I've had squirrels come in and entrance and then go down inside of a wall before. I don't think there's anything keeping them from going up inside a wall if they wanted to.

Do you know any good people to call in the Louisville Kentucky area?

I would check with your state game and fish department. They will probably have a list of people who are licensed to do that type of work. Find someone in your area who, hopefully, has a college degree in biology or natural resources and experience in this type of work. They will be the best choice.

i sprayed a mixture of cayenne pepper and red pepper flakes boiled and simmered in water, all over the tree they were using to jump off, and the ledge they would land on. now i’ve noticed a squirrel desperately trying to get in different spots, not going to the oils spot, sitting and stalking, poooping everywhere. there must be babies up there but it’s not my fault, she shouldn’t bought her own house.. it sucks but i made a DIY repellent for a reason, i’m not spending money on these rats

I use coles mix that supposed to be used to mix in bird food to keep them from eating the bird food. They hate the smell of that also. Only problem, you have to spray it everyday but it does work.

It is a good idea to key in on the squirrels protective mothering instincts and get her to move the babies out. It saves having dead baby squirrels in the attic. It sounds like the pepper was a pretty good deterrent, but any momma will be highly motivated to get to her babies.

Evictor Strobe Lights evict 100% of squirrels in the attic. 175,000 Candlepower is too much for them to tolerate. Within a week, squirrels take babies and leave.
