I really respect this guy because he made a few errors and he showed that. Fantastic video that actually helped make this process easier.
Thanks
Brother If you’ve watched many of my builds you know that screw-ups make up at least 40% of my content. Lol. 👍
This is the video I've been looking for! Thanks for the thorough step by step instructions. I'm putting a brand new locally fab'd aluminium tank (with 7 baffles!!!) in my '72 c10 and running all new fuel supply & return lines + wiring, all of which is over my head. So this video is indispensable. Thanks again!
Glad you found it helpful. The video after that one covered running the rest of the fuel system. 👍
@@BadLuckGarage I'll definitely take a look! I feel blessed in that I'm running 'soft' braided lines. I do seem to be having issues getting the sock to stay on the bottom of my pump - do you have any tips or tricks for that stage? It seems that the metal tabs bend down, but then I can't get the sock on any further on the bottom "shaft" of the pump, so as soon as I go to put in my tank, it immediately pops off. Thanks!
The tank looks great , and the pump unit seems to be solid. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the build 👍
Yea it’s a pretty nice unit. Wish I would’ve went this route with the C10.....it would probably still be alive.
Just got this tank setup in today, it's nice stuff! Well worth the money.
Yea I was pretty happy with it. Just like a factory style setup pretty much. 👍🏻
Thanks for this video. I just got my EFI Tank, very similar to yours. It helps me watching you install yours, before I do mine. Thanks
Glad it helped
Another top notch video. Love your teaching style.
Thanks brother. I try to just have a more relaxed and casual style to my videos instead of sounding like an OSHA instructional video all the time. 🤣🤣👍🏻👍🏻
That's a good job on the tank vent lines! I took some screenshots on how you did it and I'm going to do it the same way on this car I'm working on. Thank you! 🙂
Cool, thanks for posting this video, I purchased one for my Camaro some time ago and I will eventually be doing the same thing.
Looking good! I am going to wire up my fuel pump and sender here in the next week as well
I’ll be watching👀
10:42 it does say it in the instructions to leave it. Im so glad u made the same mistake i did, i cut the white piece as well.....BUT i didnt realize it was the return line diameter. So like u did, i used the excess and used a heat gun and made it work for a new white piece on the fuel pump and i was good to go!
Thank u alot! I have a 72 nova im in the middle of LS swapping as well, Thank god i came across ur video and was able to correct my screw up....i put the.cut piece back, which might have leaked!
Good job brother another great video. Now thanks to Dustin you can get your welder up and running lol good job Dustin your the man
Yea he hooked me up for sure. Maybe I can get the ends this week and get it wired in. 👍🏻
Cool vid keep them coming...😎 👍 👊
I’m trying brother!👍🏻
Hey Robert. great video brother. Well done and to the point. I got my sweatshirt last week or so. It's a beauty. I love the gray with the red logo. Exactly what I hoped it would be. As long as it doesn't shrink in the long term we'll be golden. ;) Can't wait to see this car run. I hope to have the Vette running this weekend after my heads and cam swap.
I’ve been thinking about getting a gray one myself. And yea, cam and head package really wakes an LS up. I hope you get it finished this weekend. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@@BadLuckGarage I forgot to say I made a couple progress videos for you. Nothing on your level of professionalism lol. Just goofin off. I may do a couple more up through the tuning process.
@@PNW_Car_Mods Hell yea! I'll check them out brother!
Thanks
Thats a nice ass tank bud. Its so nice working on new shit 😀 Nice job explaining how to do the install look forward to the install 🙊
I’m definitely not used to working with all these nice parts. But it’s a welcome change from what I usually have to deal with. Lol. Hoping to throw the tank in and make up the fuel lines tonight. Plan is to drop the engine and trans in this weekend. Then it’s just about the wiring. 👍🏻
@@BadLuckGarage i bet its nice lol and thats awesome brother that 6.0 is gonna look beautiful in the drnova
@@BadLuckGarage i bet its nice lol and thats awesome brother that 6.0 is gonna look beautiful in the drnova
Yea I can’t wait to drop it in there. Motivation always picks up once the engines in. 👏
@@BadLuckGarage hell yeah brother getter done lol
I am contemplating going with an intank electric pump in a 69 mustang tank that is going into a pickup truck. The engine will have a carburetor right now but I want everything to be there for an efi swap later down the road. I want to run an aeromotive 13301 Bypass regulator. Tanks carries their GPA style fuel pumps that would work for the mustang tank however the inlet and outlets are only 1/4 NPT. Aeromotive recommends a return size based on the size of fuel pump youre running and the distance the line travels. Well for my application my return would have to be a -8. Do you think a -8 going into a 1/4 NPT fitting would create a backpressure issue since the carburetor only really needs 7 psi the rest would be going back to tank.
It definitely “could” cause a restriction depending on how much flow those pumps have. Also if you’re interested in saving some money, they sell a knockoff of the Aeromotive 13301 regulator for around $35 on eBay. It even has the Aeromotive logo on it. Lol. The his is the regulator we’ve been running for the last 2 years on our twin turbo Camaro.

Great video as usual just a little extra smack then usual
Gotta make it smack brother. 🤣
It didn't cost me shit I know it's pretty big but shouldn't have a problem carrying any amps over there LOL and the plug was already on there so I just left it didn't know if you needed it
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH DUSTIN!!!! Definitely shouldn’t have any amperage drop. It’s like four friggen battery cables in that wire! I’m looking forward to learning. Hopefully the machine I bought works the way it should. I’m gonna practice with flux till I get a bottle and valves, then I’ll switch over to mig. 👍🏻
Hey been watching your Nova videos, excellent stuff. I'm doing the same thing with an 6.0 LQ4 and 4L80E. Did you use your stock intake and throttle body? Thanks, Jeff
Yes
Glad I saw this video! Just got my tank, pump, and hanger. It is a lot cheaper to by all this stuff separate than in a kit from Holley or Tanks Inc. Saved about $200. Do you think my stock fuel gauge unit will work in the new tank just fine? Rather not buy a new one if I don’t have to. The stock tank is identical. Only difference is the new one is set up for EFI just like this yours. I don’t see why it wouldn’t. Love your videos. Great clarity and lighting. Great explanations. Love all the links to parts. Perfect amount of in depth instructions. Do you have anything on installing a 4L80E into an F body or G body? I want to see how to hook up wiring and linkage and shifter.
No, just in a C10 and in this Nova.
Did you still add the gas resistant gasket stuff when you did this? Just doing and wanting to double check
It’s been a few years but I generally just use copper rtv.
Just looking to verify that those fuel line adapters are 1/4” npt to AN6? I have one of those tanks and they look like 3/8. Thanks
The info you’re looking for is in the video at the 5:30 mark
@@BadLuckGarage I saw that before I asked the question but was looking for confirmation.
Thank you for responding.
my 1/4” npt fitting are not screwing in
for future use if you want half of a fraction you just double the bottom number. half of 1/2=1/4, half of 1/4=1/8, half of 5/8=5/16 etc...
Not doing an ls but im doing a holley sniper efi. Instead of getting the kit with the inline fuel pump i will get the efi tank. Holley sales a tank but cost $200 more without fuel lines.
Pretty sure the Holley tank is the exact same tank. 😉
Why run the fuel lines on the passenger side? 🤔
Tank exits on the passenger side so I’m just gonna follow the factory lines to allow me to use all the factory fuel line clips and mounts on the passenger side of the frame. Using all hardline until I get to the engine bay, then the last couple feet will be braided line. 👍🏻 I actually meant to be done with that yesterday but it took me almost 6 hours to edit this video due to a file that was corrupt. Had to re-edit 3 times and that burnt up all my work time. 🤦🏼♂️
Hey man. Really appreciate your video. I probably watched it 20 times today when installing my new tank. It'll be on my CZcams or tiktok soon if you wanna check it out. Thank you again for the video!!
Glad it helped brother.
where did u bought that fuel pump -I need to to get one but with out the assambly like on any auto parts want to sell
Links for all the parts are in the video description.
Hey how many gallons does it take before the baffle gets any gas
The baffle sits on the bottom of the tank. So if there’s fuel in the bottom of the tank there’s fuel in the baffle.
Can I use my stock nova tank and just add a external walbro ?
Yes
Where would your parts list for this B I would appreciate that thank you
Links are in the video description as stated in the video.
Oh and yes the black part is like a heat shrink. You can heat it in boiling water
Can you post a link to the weatherpack connector kit?
These are the ones that I was trying to use at first that will only work up to a 14 gauge wire : rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm570.l1313%26_nkw%3DSealed%2BWaterproof%2BMotorcycle%2B1%2B2%2B3%2B4%2B5%2B6Pin%2BElectrical%2BWire%2BConnector%2BPlug%2B30Set%26_sacat%3D0&campid=5338299795&toolid=20008
These are the Deutsch connectors that a subscriber sent me that I ended up using but they require a special crimp tool. rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp2047675.m570.l1311.R1.TR12.TRC2.A0.H0.TRS0%26_nkw%3Ddeutsch%2Bconnector%26_sacat%3D0&campid=5338299795&toolid=20008
where did you end up mounting the vent piece at?
Behind the license plate, next to the fill neck.
@@BadLuckGarage ok Thank you, Im gathering to parts to do this swap to my 73 nova.
Hell yea. Make sure you checkout the entire DR Nova playlist then. We covered everything involved in this swap fairly well and links to all the parts we used are in the video descriptions. 👍🏻
Do you think the gasket maker caused your leak?
The only leak we found in this setup after we got it running was from one of the compression fittings that didn’t seat correctly. This cars been running for over a year since then with no issues.
Have you had any issues with your sending unit and fuel gauge readings?
No sir.
Do you think this tank and hat setup could fit 2 walbro 450’s?
It’s possible. May have to offset them a bit though. But there’s definitely room in the baffle.
I’m guessing getting them in would be a pain in the ass, that 255 looking like it barely fit.
That’s why you would need to offset them a bit. That’s pretty much the norm when using twin pumps. Either offset them or enlarge the opening in the tank. Then you have to always make sure you keep enough fuel in the tank to keep the pumps covered so you don’t end up like Project SteppinWolf. 🤦🏼♂️
I’m buying parts and pieces to put a 5.3 in my 74 nova. I have a vsr 78/75 going on it. Hoping to avoid hurting anything.
Yea I assumed you were going for boost. 👍🏻 Not sure if you’ve seen the Project SteppinWolf playlist but I was running a single 450 on the 6.0 with a 78/75 and it was good at 12psi. Never went beyond that though. And then the fuel slosh issue took out a piston so 🤣🤣🤣
I can send !! A Doll! LOL
Hey bud is this the same thing cpp is selling wondering if it's worth it to pay the extra for this would have liked a 340 or better fuel pump not sure if I should buy the kit or just the tank and piece together the rest of the stuff using a larger fuel pump
Cpp kit comes with a 255lph hoses fittings and more
I’m not sure what cpp sells but you can configure this tank any way you want with any pump you want. That’s why I put links in the video description for either the kit or the individual parts.
Thanks again bud
No problem brother. And good luck with your build!
Looks to be the same thing but contains regulator and filter as well for 460.00 I just ordered it! And thanks again bud!
Be nice if u edited the video to warn about the white cap on the pump, I was following step by step and cut mine off too when I saw you had removed yours
Brother you should treat how to videos the same way you treat instructions. Read/watch the entire process before you begin. Or even better yet realize that this isn’t a how to video at all. It’s us sharing our experiences with you and showing where we messed up real time instead of lying and pretending we’ve done this 1,000 times like other CZcams channels. This was our first experience with the tanks Inc setup so you learn as we learn.
doing a 1969 chevy fuel tank swap plz if you have a video I would like to see it-thank you
The procedure is exactly the same. The tank is just shaped slightly different.
actually im adding a tank on the rear of the chassis
Thats where it goes.
I’m going to add a gas tank on the glove box compartment!
Lol
