11/22/63 is simply the greatest King book this side of the year 2000 and by a long way too. It's a underrated masterpiece that in my opinion can rival anything else he has written ... ever. All entertainment is subjective of course, so there is no right and wrong way to feel, it's how each individual reacts to what they find entertaining.

@@BookishDrummer It's amazing how King fans can differ. The Dead Zone is my favourite book as I know it is yours, not many others feel the same way then we differ so strongly with 11/22/63. If I really think of Kings works as a whole, 11/22/63 may just be my second favourite.

This has to be the most upside down ranking video of Stephen king books I have ever seen! AND I absolutely love it hahaha! I appreciate somehow who has a differing opinion on art. How you enjoy something is entirely subjective and love that you have no qualms whatsoever to feel how you feel. Honestly, when I rank his books it’s very hard to NOT be swayed by how I know “the general consensus” feels. I try to really see how I enjoyed it or not.
I will say I have some hot takes too on some of his classics! But, other classics of his I absolutely love. I always love seeing how differently everyone ranks his works. Awesome video! Cheers

The uncut version of The Stand is very unwieldy, but it has a late 80's / early 90's energy that crackles. Every scene with Randall Flagg is iconic and brilliantly written. Easily some of his most terrifying prose ever in his entire canon of work.

I loved The Dark Tower 7 so much! I think I liked it more than most people. I can understand the feeling of some anticlimaxes, for example a certain character is pursuing the ka-tet for the entire book and then the actual battle between them is quite rushed. The very ending is so great and such a bonkers twist ending! Left my jaw on the floor!
I'm rereading The Gunslinger right now, and you're right, its like a different book on reread! Its so much better and it's just amazing the amount of foreshadowing that goes into the entire series.
Glad to see The Long Walk a lot lower on the list, I'm not a big fan at all.
Although I don't agree, I love your love for The Regulators! It's kind of growing on me a bit.
Super glad to see Desperation and Wolves of the Calla a bit higher.

As an ambitious, eager reader at a young age (elementary), I remember countless times picking up my dad’s SK novels, and trying to read them for about 10 pages. The Tommy Knockers, Green Mile, and Gerald’s Game at the least. As I got older, I heard rumblings from my uncles about the greatness of the Dark Tower cycle, and was intrigued by the hints of titanic buildings, and grand narratives. At 17, I conducted some research, and picked-up the same edition of The Stand as you have, with plans to read the first DT afterwards. I loved it, but after about 250ish pages, I got distracted by life, school, loves and despairs. It’s sat on my shelf for 6 or so years, mark still on the same page where I left-off.
Just recently, my buddy read Carrie, and gave me his new, battered copy to read, unasked. I sped through it in less than a week, and the hunger’s awakened in me again. First I gotta finish Children of Dune, but I really wanna tackle The Stand again. But god, is the prospect of starting over painful. I wonder if I should just spark-notes the first chunk like I’m back in high-school, writing an essay the night before a due date.

Always interested to hear what other people think of The Institute as it is one of my favorite modern King books, and definitely agree. The start is really well done and they set up a really engrossing character, then the switch is a little jarring. I did keep wondering when it would switch back. Personally loved the overall dread and tension that came with following the escape, and found The Institute as a whole deeply interesting in terms of its purpose. Can agree that parts of the ending got a little confusing but overall really loved it. Think it would honestly work pretty great as a TV series or something, cutting back to that initial main character more often as well as some of the other POVs.

The craziest thing to me about Mr. Mercedes is just how much better the tv series is. That might be the case for the entire trilogy actually but especially the first season. It adds new characters and depth to each and every cast member (maybe besides Jerome where they only take away from him, which is still for the better iykyk). It feels like the tv series, which was co-written by Dennis Lehane btw, was a much needed second draft to a book that got published much too early.

My favorite King is Bag of Bones (I'm not sure you mentioned it here, unless I missed it?). Least favorite so far is probably Duma Key. I LOVED the last 150 pages or so, but the middle of it dragged on for so long that I almost didn't get to it. I just started Needful Things yesterday!

Wow! The Dead Zone is my favourite also. The best wrap up of any King I’ve read as some leave me non plussed but the journey to the destination more than makes up for any flat endings. Still have plenty more King novels to read tho. I’ve just started on the Dark Tower series having just finished The Drawing of the Three which I thoroughly enjoyed and was so pleased to see it also was very special to you. I’m so looking forward to completing this journey. A lot of people will argue against but King is so the best author ever, mainly because he can do it all, basically cover so many genres and do so with amazing aplomb. I’m gonna have to re-read a part in Drawing of the 3 as I have a question, but will see if you might clear it up having read it 3! times. Question: Eddie with Roland inside him are delivered to Balazars office. Balazar is wondering what happened to the H as Eddie was shaken down by airport custom agents. Cutting to the quick Eddie promises Balazar he will get half the H after using his office privy and then get the other half once he sees that his brother Henry is alright. So as you know when Roland and Eddie come back with the first half of the H they end up shooting every one before one of Balazar’s goons come in with Henry head. They make short work of this goon. So my question is if they didn’t have to get the other half of the H why did Eddie have to go cold turkey when he and Roland returned to the beach? Cheers mate I know you can clear this up, no rush tho and if I work it out in the meantime I will let you know, I’m sure the I’ve misread it tho. 😎

Hi again, so I went back and read over the passage relating to my question. I found no solution. Must’ve been an oversight I thought. But I began to wonder, ponder it a bit. An oversight? By one of the greatest writers to have ever scratched parchment with a pen?? Something is afoot. The mistake is glaringly obvious for it to get past all the editors, the readers, and you yourself having read it thrice. Nah no. The answer lies waiting I’m sure, the solution to my confusion is up yonder upon the roads to be yet walked or ridden. You didn’t want to spoil it so you down played it discreet like. Well only time passing and pages turned will reveal my sneaky suspicions one way or the other no? I, or we shall leave it at that dear fellow reader and excellent reviewer. Nothing more to say except Thankyou. So Thankyou. 🤩😎👍

If not for the title and obvious effort you put in to make this video (and of course the sweatshirt) it doesn’t seem like King is for you. Maybe you should just rank your top 25.
