SOME OF THE BOOKS MENTIONED IN THIS VIDEO ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR SOME AUDIENCES. - ZĂĄbava
IT was the first Stephen King book I ever read and pulled me back into being a heavy reader after not picking up a book (for entertainment) in a while. The character work is out of this world and right after I finished I immediately started to binge his other works. Hands down my favorite King novel.
Thatâs what happened to me đ
I hear you on that. My all time favorite from him as well and it's not even close. SUCH a good book, blows me away
â@@otherworldsthanthese they are saying around that maybe you are that "Adam MedvidoviÄ" that wrote that "Night in Zagreb" that is raising a lot of dust - its like novel that is actually revealing whats gonna happen. It is known that "Adam MedvidoviÄ" is a pen name, but actuall writer is unknown. Wanted to ask you is it true? You are a genius for writing that and a man with the balls. If it is you.
Exact same here bro
But but butâŠthat one scene! Gimme a break. Best book heâs ever written.
I am so impressed that you read all SK novels. The book Rage was written at a very different time. There were no school shootings that I know of in the 70âs and it was a powerful book for itâs time. Sadly, we are in a different world. My favorites are Per Semetary, Salemâs Lot and the Shining and the Long WalkâŠ. My least favorite was Cell. I just finished Later and really enjoyed it.
peter mcvries was awsome
Currently trying to binge his books. I never knew how many books he wrote. This video will help me alot ....thanks!
I just got through with reading Revival for the second time and in my opinion, it's one of the best examples of his newest balls to the wall horror, and The Dead Zone was the first Stephen King book I ever read and it holds a special place in my heart.
I liked how batshit crazy the ending of Revival was, but I just thought the main chunk of it was a bit dull :/
Finished reading Revival about a week ago and canât get that ending out of my head. So creepy and dark and somewhat sad. Especially what happened to Astrid and all of the other âcuredâ patients.
14:50 - Long Walk is indeed the first novel that Stephen King ever finished writing, which was in 1967 when he was a freshman in college. He actually started Rage earlier than that when he was a senior in high school but didn't finish writing it until 1971 when he found the partial manuscript it in a box in the cellar of his parents house.
Its funny how every King's book, hits its readers differently. For example, dreamcatcher, was the first book of him that i read, and even tho ive read most of his books by now, dreamcatcher is still in my top 5,i love it.
Yea I really liked dreamcatcher.
Oh man, I've been waiting for this!
Youâll agree with some of my rankings, and HATE some of them đ
I love love LOVE Misery! My favorite King book so far (Iâve only read The Shining, The Outsider, The Stand, and Misery). This book LITERALLY had me reading on the edge of my seat.
Me too!
Nothing beats Misery.
What a fabulous job you've done! As you said in your introduction, 100 King fans would undoubtedly come up with 100 different lists. But yours is well thought out. Having said that, of course my list is different. I think my top ten (no particular order) would include The Stand, Salem's Lot, Bag of Bones, It, The Shining, Pet Sematary, Needful Things, Desperation, Firestarter, and 11/22/63.
First of all CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Itâs absolutely fascinating that you read all of Stephen Kings novels in just three years, especially some of his novels are insanely long!! I love this list and it makes me want to continue reading Kings books!! My favorite so fat are definitely It, green mile and I really loved Liseys story, but Iâm currently reading Salems lot and I love it so far!
"This book is even more all over the place than my sexuality" I love you
I just finished my first King book, IT, and I loved it, and now I'm struggling to decide which one of his to read next... thank you for making this video, its very helpful! :)
the stand!
Sooooo happy you ranked Insomnia high enough. It will always be my favorite book for so many reasons. And it hurts when I read Mr. King saying that the book didn't work for him. A masterpiece.
I've only Carrie, 'Salem's Lot and The Shining so far, and I'm currently on IT.
I'd say my favourite is The Shining. The world-building of the Overlook is great, the horror elements are extremely discomforting, and the character work is unforgettable.
I'd even go so far as to say it's the best book I've ever read, besides 1984. That's gonna be a controversial opinionđŹ
Seriously tho, why don't people talk about that book enough? It's just perfect!!!! Can't wait to experience the rest of King's bibliography.
Iâm always hesitant to refer to any fiction as perfect, but I think a lot of Kingâs bibliography is close to it đ
@@otherworldsthanthese The film adaptation of The Shining is also one of my favourites, but I honestly don't think it does the book justice.
Fire starter and the stand will always be my top favorites â€ïž my mom has been a Stephen king fan since the 80s and both really love reading so the stand and fire starter were the first books she ever let me borrow of hers. Not only are really good books but I have a lot of good memories of bonding with my mom over them.
Very good list! Makes me excited for all the upcoming good reads I have! I've only read about 10 so far - but Duma Key has been my favorite! Excited to read Firestarter and The Dark Half! Thanks again for the excellent review and list! đ
Harry a year ago: we are going to review the Institute
Harry now: we are going to review every book in the world
Ur reading skills are amazing
Stephen was worried about saturating the marketâŠ.lol, he did. For 5 decades.
I was never a reader and just decided to look at Mr. Mercedes in the fiction aisle at my local barnes...little did I know it would turn me into a reader and now I'm about 20 books in by Stephen King. Love how he brings characters to life
I would love to hear your ranking of your favorite novellas and short stories. He really shines there imo
I've got to say "The Long Walk" totally broke me emotionally. Most of my high school friends are now dead [= who I did gay stuff with at the time, just cuz that was the 90s :)], and I feel just like Gordy in "The Body" and when the narrator's only friend in "The Long Walk" [=it's heavily implied Garraty the narrator is homosexually in love with this boy McVries], when that boy McVries gives up on the contest [=a metaphor life in general] and says "It's time to sit down, Garraty!" and the protagonist shouts "NOOOOOOO!" as his possible boyfriend McVries is shot in the head is so freakin' heartbreaking. I didn't know Stephen King could make me cry more bitterly than I shivered in fear from his writing. The Long Walk deserves respect as ART. I feel like when I become aware I'm about to die I'm going to remember that terrible page: "Time to sit down, Garraty!"
Nice to see Firestarter getting the recognition it deserves.. the movie was decent but the novel is outstanding.
Oof, Dreamcatcher was the first King book I ever read so it holds a special place in my heart for that reason, even though objectively it's not the best. But it made me fall in love with his writing style and his characters.
My favorite King book is either Misery or The Dead Zone - can never really decide between those two - and my least favorite is The Gunslinger.
I desperately need to reread The Dead Zone, because I remember loving it so much but it was such a long time ago!
I love how subjective Kingâs work is! Some of my favorites were really low and some of the ones I hated were really high. Good video and I applaud the dedication of ready every book the man has written!
Congratulations! For reading all his books. Youâre amazing!
I felt he same about IT.... THAT SCENE didnt need to exist
Sat here waiting to see where The Outsider lands because its my favourite King book
Interesting choice for a favourite đ
@@otherworldsthanthese I haven't read many. Only 3/4 but I prefer Kings current writing style personally so that's a bit contributing factor
I started drinking a shot every time you said "really really." I blacked out somewhere around The Regulators.
Can't believe you did my boy Revival like that.
oopsie
Got 11.22.63 is on my TBR. I cannot wait
Youâll love it!
Your ranking of Wizard and Glass is the only thing I have trouble comprehending. It had arguably the best (well, tragic, really) ending of any of his novels and read like a sweet fantasy fairy tale. Loved it so much.
Iâve read the shining, IT, the long walk, and Iâm on the wastelands for the dark tower series. I canât wait to read more of king
"You're the Firestarter, twisted Firestarter."
Dream catcher on the very bottom⊠damn. Itâs crazy how different peoples opinions are
The most common opinions on Dreamcatcher are not good. So basically not much people like it.
Suprised to see Revival so low, but I guess thats why they are subjective lists and everyones is completely different. That book shook me to my core and stuck with me for months afterwards. My absolute favourite is The Dead Zone, which is maybe the most heartbreaking book I have ever read. My least favourite is The Talisman, I literally cannot get through that one, and I usually love King's fantasy work.
I will say one of the marks of a great book which is longer is you don't realize how long it is. The first time I read The Stand was the abridged version which was still 800+ pages long. The second time was the unabridged version and I was probably even more captivated by it. It probably helped the first time reading The Stand I was in the 8th grade and the second time was just a few years ago). But The Stand is my favorite of King's (and in general, one of my favorite fiction books). You did get me to change my mind on IT though, I can't in good conscious have it quite as high as I did because of THAT scene (come on King, really?).
What scene? Iâve not read IT yet. Currently reading kings other work. I have only watched the movies.
I was always skipping science modules and using free period to hit the library shelves and sometimes when I picked up a King book I'd think and my first was The Green Mile - "So this school gives out detentions if any jewelry is more than studs in the ears or a crucifix and doesn't sell any fast food because we're a private Catholic secondary school, but we have these awesome, gory, psychological novels?"
That intro xD
Finally someone who gives praise for The Dark Half, my favorite novel from him. George Stark is such a great antagonist !!!
wow this only took like 5 years
almost three, jesseth
Currently trying to work my way through the stand and gotta say it's slow at least for me who's only used to reading YA and middle grade đ
The Stand is a tough read đ
Thanks for your rating. I have not read as many books by him as you but after watching this one I will coz you got me interested in his works.
Hope somedeay can read all of the king books, started this year.
Good luck from Portugal, keep with your work mate
At the beginning you said you've been working on this video for 3 years and I immediately thought
"I'd like to work on YOU for 3 years"
Is it just me, but cycle of the werewolf is the greatest Stephen king novel ever
Well spoken kiddo. I read the Shining when it came out because the silver cover was so cool. I was in 6th grade, and hooked! Recently I picked up Duma Key at an airport and I itâs a true hidden gem, with its enchanting beachy gothic tone. Thrilled to see it high on your list.
I haven't made it very far through King's books yet but of what I've ready I remember really enjoying The Dark Half and Misery
It's great to see The Institute in the top 10. I loved that book! A lot of people thought it was just 'okay' and I definitely had some small issues with it, but still a great book!
Top 5 best King books for me,
1. The Stand
2. It
3. 11.22.63
4. Needful Things
5. Salem's Lot
My three worst
1. Lisey's Story
2. Gerald's Game
3. Cell
Right now I'm reading needful things I'm really liking it so far đđ€
I havenât read very much Stephen King, but I love a lot of his writing. I absolutely HATED IT(probably because I read it when I was ten) but my current favorite is If It Bleeds, even though itâs short stories. I just really loved all of the character development (specifically the main story). Holly was a great character and I definitely recommend.
personally i LOVE the long walk, easily one of my top 10 stephen king books
Just finished insomnia really enjoyed it.. Now re-reading IT.. That ONE scene in the book was weird but it never bothered me like it does most..
I have only read about half of his novels so far but Dreamcatcher is my least favorite and Wizard and Glass is actually my favorite. If you look at it like a speed bump in the Dark Tower plot, I understand how you might not like it. But Roland's backstory is so tragic and it really helps you to see his character more clearly. Without the backstory there is no heart to the series. Also, I dated a woman with the last name Delgado when I was younger and it ended somewhat tragically so it made me really identify with his character more. You might find that you like it more when you are a bit older. Not meaning to sound condescending at all but I think viewing a coming of age story is more impactful when you have some gray in your whiskers and have been through real hardship. Maybe it's just me.
Im reading my first king rn (dreamcatcher) and im acc enjoying it alot
@@jlover123 It's not horrible...just by comparison it's not as great imho.
When I read the green mile itâs my favourite and this book is the first book I was really crying badly
Great long awaited comprehensive list Harry! I rank The Stand higher on my list & Desperation & Insomnia lower. I also love The Dark Half, 11/22/63, Firestarter & Misery
The Dead Zone is my favourite Stephen King so far. I read it in two weeks. Iâm currently reading The Long Walk, which is harrowing
Bros sexuality joke got me đ
I saw Dreamcatcher and Firestarter coming, everything in between was a surprise
Thanks for ranking the Dark Half so high !!!
As for me : IT is my number 1 King book, I haven't read everything but Sleeping Beauties is my least favorite one for now.
Thanks for the video~
11/22/63 best book đđ»
My favorite King book is Needful Things and least favorite is Dreamcatcher. The first book of his I read was Salem's Lot and I remember how scared I was reading it and I've been hooked on King ever since.
I don't know if anyone have said it already, but I love the crow/raven display at the bookshelf. Reminds me of Kafka on the Shore.
The Crow is such an interesting character, Iâd love to hear your opinion of what it represents :)
@@otherworldsthanthese I personally think that the boy named Crow was Kafka's alter ego. There was a part in the book that says that he named himself Kafka because it translates to "crow" in another language (I can't really remember coz my memory is jumbled while reading this book đ). Crows are associated with intelligence, braveness, and higher perspective (we can relate this to the part where the Crow repeatledly said to Kafka that he should be strong and the part where Kafka searches for the boy named Crow to answer a question). Aside from that, crows are also a totem of death which we can interpret that Kafka's past self had died when he decided to run away from home and take this new identity. I'm sorry I'm terrible at explaining things but I hope you get my point. đ I'd love to know your thoughts about the boy named Crow too because I think it was an interesting character to study and analyse.
You got some really cool editions of the books. The covers look amazing!
Hey,I live in India,
And I m a huge fan of Stephen King Books.
The way he describes his thoughts to people is just unimaginable.
Read The Shining and now I've ordered his most anticipated book -IT.
THanks for all the rating though
I was surprised by the ranking of Under the Dome. I havent read it yet but everyone keeps telling me its amazing
I've just started it two days ago :)
"this book is even more over than place than my sexuality" me fuckin too mate
Really looking forward to the release of Gwendyâs Final Task on the 15th of February!! Currently reading Chizmarâs novel, Gwendyâs Magic Feather. Itâs pretty good!!
very informative, appreciate it :)
Ahh I love the rainbow!!
Wolves of the Calla was my favorite of the Dark Tower series. "Many other functions."
Thank you very much. Good content đŻ
As soon as I heard "I've been working on this for years" I was in. (Edit: I disagree with so much of this list)
Love the content! Found ya a few weeks ago. Love the collection too! Currently binging all the titles and collecting. Thanks for your work!
how is the opening line to the gunslinger good at all
I read and finished tbe institute last week and now I'm reading firestarter.. there both very similar but theres 39 years apart between them. Also, firestarter is being released on movie in the uk sometime in may 2022
I really really enjoyed this video
Iâve read close to 30 SK books. My first is Desperation. It will always be my favourite. Not because itâs the best, but because it just is.
Let's count the number of times he says "it's so good."
Just donât make it a drinking game, because youâd black out after 5 minutes.
I havn't seen anyone besides you to agree, but I absolutely love The Dark Half! It's my favorite Stephen King book, and one of the few books Ive read that I geniunely and literally could not put down!
I really wish The Stand was shorter đą
Favorite: REVIVAL
Least favorite: SLEEPING BEAUTIES
Of those Iâve read:
1) 11/22/63
2) IT - would be #1 if the ending 100 pages were better
3) The Shining
4) Misery
5) The Stand
6) The Dead Zone - last of his I read that I thought was great in this list.
7) Mr Mercedes - it was decent
8) Revival - was ok but didnât like the ending
I have some reading to do
It's amazing that your able to read and digest that much material that quickly. That said, I feel bad you read Regulators before Desperation. It still wasn't fantastic (either, really) but it had some crossover themes. I could go on about my own favorites. I Love the Dark Tower series and its threads through most his work. Shining and Dr. Sleep my favorite 2 all and all
"Stand is too long"
-puts IT at No 8
Me: rly bruh smh
Great video, Harry!
I going to get a lot of hate for this but my favorite Stephan King book is cell and I hope he writes a sequel for Cell
I was hoping you would do this! Hooray! :-)
great job you're doing
Also thank you for the suggestion of reading Desperation before The Regulators. I've tried reading Regulators and it is very intriguing, but I just can't seem to follow along.
Great list! I've watched this video twice. The very first King novel I ever read, and one of my all-time favorites, is The Dark Half. Absolutely LOVED it! My least favorite thus far is Lisey's Story.
IT gets so much crap for *that* scene. I may be in the minority where I understand that it is odd but completely think that kids facing a huge thing like IT would maybe do that. They are all learning about their own sexualities and yet are also thinking they are about to die... It isn't uncommon for people to do crazy stuff right before they think they are going to die. And kids definitely might have that thought of "I need to do this before I die..." I personally think IT gets too much flack for that scene without considering what it was trying to do. Especially when there are books like Tampa that literally have a woman sexualizing a HS kid... and no one is talking about how that shouldn't have been written.
And personally it is silly to rank a book down 6 books due to a one-two page part of 1000+ pages. Again, this is just my opinion, but I think it isn't the most outlandish thing for kids to do when faced with death...
It was the best. The Stand would be, except last 1/3 got goofy.
Miseryâ€â€â€ I agree! It deserves a place at #2 for sure!
Great video. I would say my 2 favorite are Needful Things and The Talisman. I reread those quite a bit. My underrated one is The Dark Half and my overrated one is 11/22/63. I've only read it once but I found it predictable, didn't care for the characters, and patronizing. Your The Stand is my 11/22/63. I really liked your list and video. Keep up the good work! I've only got 4 King novels left.
So I just started reading Stephen king books my favorite one I've read was IT. I'd the ones I've read was IT the shining and dreamcetcher
Never Read The Green Mile but I adore the movie
You should definitely read it!
great video mate...thanks for sharing ...really enjoyed
