Garden & Pub Project - Apr 20 to May 21

- Our garden and pub project started at the end of April 2020, during lock down. The garden was revamped with artificial lawn, new decking area, BBQ shack and outside bar area and of course the addition of the pub shed - The Piston Broke! (that's what I've been seen I built it!)
This is our journey in pictures with two videos of where we are now... This has been the most enjoyable project I've ever done and I'm already planning further work and extensions, so watch this space!

That is so good! It looks like a proper boozer that's been there for decades. It was encouraging to read a comment on the size, 4.8m x 3m, mine is 4m x 3m and a blank canvas, got power out there this weekend, now the fun can begin!! Thanks for the video, top work!

I was already impressed with the tv on the wall, and then you panned round to the cinema screen. Just incredible work. And a smoke machine too for the nightclub lasers. Brilliant.
Next you need a stage, and you can book some bands. I wish I was your mate - but maybe not your neighbour though ;-)

Your backyard pub shed is the Bom!!! Meaning it is so kool,,☺️I didn't want you to get the wrong notion when I said that Bom word that's what we use here in the US. I built mine in 2016 and still holding up,, enjoy your pub dude.

the only downside i don’t like about your bar is there is a bit to much lights, you dint want to really make it to flashy and like a nightclub feel. anyways Fantastic bar great job 👏 i am actually thinking to build a bar myself maybe you could give a a few pointers on how to build one?! -charlie

@@bells1969 I use a small 1.8kw electric fire which after 15 mins takes the chill off and becomes very cosy 👍🏻 There is heat off the commercial beer fridge that helps a little.

How much roughly? Really tempted!
Approx £6k but that was the garden too i.e. Artificial grass, decking, sleepers, slate, bbq shack etc. That also includes all fixtures and fittings inside 👍🏻 All labour by myself and Dad.

Pub shed and all fixings etc. around £5k... With decking, outside bar, artificial lawn etc. Add another £1.5k. This was at 2020 prices!!!

What insulation is that? How’s it holding up? Any things would do differently
It's a thermawrap insulation. It's good and does its job. Only use a 1.8kw heater and heats up in no time. Only thing I wish I'd done now... Is made it bigger!!! 👍🏻🍻

Have you insulated the whole building?
Yes. Used a thermawrap foil insulation. Does the job. A 1.8kw fire takes the chill off and keeps it warm.

Did you find the foil bubble wrap sufficient at holding heat? How’s it been the last few days in the cold?
It's OK and does a job. No matter what insulation you use it'll always be cold in cold weather. It's about retaining the heat once heated. I use a 1800w electric heater which keeps it toasty.
@@markwalker75 thanks for your response. Any issues with condensation or mould yet? I'm converting a building in my garden to a man cave and people tell me i need to be careful about condensation buildup
@@rockgod200 no problems. Ensure there is airflow. When boarding and insulating leave an air gap 👍🏻
@@markwalker75did you leave the air gap on the inside of the shed or between the bubble foil and outside walls and then board straight over the top? Did you insulate the floor at all aswell?

Internal bar wood was a Georgian oak wood dye with 3 coats of yacht varnish. Exterior is a light brown creosote.

No. All done by myself and Dad. Never built anything like this in my life! That's why I enjoyed doing it and the pleasure of seeing it built 👍🏻
