  • In this follow up to my original review and range session of the new Ruger/Marlin 1894 in .357 Magnum, I try some reloads and mount a scope to try and improve groups.
    It worked! While the groups tightened, the trigger got worse. Next session will be heavier bullets and after a thorough cleaning of the action and trigger components.

    That enormous scope looks ridiculous on that carbine.

      It does! It's only on there to wring out new loads to ensure accuracy, then it will be replaced by a Skinner site.

    H 110 likes to be loaded near max. My rifle likes near max loads with H110 and 158 xtps shoots around 1700 fps.and very accurate.

    I think 1.5" at 50 yards would be considered good enough for a pistol caliber levergun. I cringed before your first shot when the dog was right under the muzzle. Maybe you moved him at the right time.
